I drive a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. Last week, as I was driving my children to their grandmothers house, I noticed the steering wheel shaking. I regained control and made it to my moms house and dropped off the children. As I left her house and made it back to the road, the van became hard to steer. It started jerking to one side and wobbling. I called the dealership where I purchased my van and was told to bring it in immediately. The day after bringing the van in, I returned to dealership and they showed me what was wrong with the van. It was lifted up into the air and I was showed that the rear axle on the driver side had been broken. There was 2 mechanics there and one suggested that I had been in a collision or hit a big pothole. The other said that it couldn't have been a driver error because of the way the break on the axle was bent as well as the lack of any scratches or damage to any other area of the van. My tires and rims show no damage, and the undercarriage of the van also shows no sign of hitting a pothole, as there are no scratches anywhere under the van. One of the mechanics said it could have been something wrong with the axle because of the bent way it was broken and he also noticed that it showed signs of it being already cracked because the metal appeared to be old on one spot and fresh on another. I highly deny hitting anything like a pot hole or having been in a collision there is absolutely no damage to any part of my vehicle save the broken axle.

When trying to stop or slow down, steering wheel vibrates so much it feels like I won't be able to hold onto it. My son replaced the rotor and pads on front brakes as they seemed worn. Then in April 2014 we took the car back to the dealer because brakes were grinding. They replaced rotor and pads and things seemed ok until may, when brakes started squealing and steering wheel vibrating again while braking. . Took car back to dealer on may 21, and asked them to check brakes, rotate tires, and change oil. They said brakes were in the "green". Still having vibration of steering wheel while braking, so I asked to bring it in for another check, and now they say the new rotors, (about 2 months old) show signs of significant wear. They asked me if I drove with both feet, and I do not. They verified my complaint of vibration in the steering wheel, and asked me to bring the car back in on this coming Friday. The brakes should not be wearing out this quickly. . .

The brake rotors warp every 20,000 miles or so, so bad that the steering wheel shakes. This has happened on both my 2008 and my 2010 caravan. Dodge has known about this problem for years and has refused to address it other than to give a discount only if you ask for it. Getting them fixed at the dealer is a pain cause they take the van for at least a day some times two. Also the wheel bearings on the 2008 did not last very long at all first set was replaced under warranty(37,000 miles) second set(68,000miles) was not. I have not had the wheel bearing issue on the 2010. The wheel bearings are sealed so it has nothing to do with the warped rotor issue.

The contact owns 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. While the contact was driving approximately 5 mph attempting to park, the steering wheel began to vibrate when making a turn. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where they replaced the steering rack and the inner tie rod ends. In addition, on a different occasion the vehicle exhibited an extremely loud rattling noise coming from the front end of the vehicle and an independent mechanic replaced the sway bar end links and bushings to correct the failure. The failure mileage was 42,943. Updated 03/16/11
