Engine Exhaust System problems of the 1996 Dodge Intrepid

Two problems related to engine exhaust system have been reported for the 1996 Dodge Intrepid. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Engine Exhaust System problem

Failure Date: 09/15/1999

While driving consumer noticed gas fumes in the car, and the fumes kept getting stronger and stronger. Vehicle was taken to garage. Mechanic informed consumer of a serious fuel leak. Fuel was leaking onto the manifold from the fuel rails and o-rings. A puddle of fuel had formed that could have ignited.

2 Engine Exhaust System problem

Failure Date: 09/04/1998

When driving the engine check light came on and the light would not go off. Also, there was a gas leakage coming the under the hood of the vehicle. When the vehicle was parked and when getting into the vehicle, the odor was very strong.
