Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problems of the 1996 Dodge Intrepid

Three problems related to manifold/header/muffler/tail pipe have been reported for the 1996 Dodge Intrepid. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2002

We started to experience a fluid leak on the car. The dealer, upon examining the car, determined that the intake manifold was leaking. They also determined that 2 bolts involved in that installation had sheared. There had been no work done on that area of the car. Having only 55,000 miles it seems preposterous that this is anything other than a manufacturing defect. I have contacted Dodge and they had no interest in this situation at all. Dt.

2 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem

Failure Date: 04/02/1999

Recall 98v184000 received in mail. Contacted dealer. Took vehicle for repairs for fuel leakage. In the process of repairs, the manifold was broken. Dealer informed owner manifold on back order since 10 Mar 99.

3 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem

Failure Date: 12/20/1998

There is a crack in the fuel line and in the engine manifold which causes the gas to leak out of the vehicle from the fuel injector which spilled out on the top of the engine. Dealer replaced the fuel rail.
