1 Crankshaft Position Sensor problem of the 1999 Dodge Intrepid

Failure Date: 11/17/2008

I own a 1999 Dodge Intrepid ES and while driving, the car just quits and I have to coast to a safe area off the road. The engine just kills. Once stopped, I try starting the engine. It just turns over and won't start. After waiting about 3 to 5 minute, it will start up as if no problem. Mechanic can not diagnose the issue through computer, because it won't store the fault code. It happens on a monthly basis, approximately. I have replaced cam sensor, crank sensor, timing belts, and no fix. It's almost as if there is a bad ground to a electrical sensor or exposed wire. Plugs and wires were replaced, but no solution. I'm just looking for someone who has eventually solved this issue. The car isn't that bad, replaced a lot of electrical sensor components, but would just like to solve this problem permanently. Any advice or solutions are more than welcome please. It's somewhat nerve racking to drive, not knowing when the next problem will occur. Please help.

2 Crankshaft Position Sensor problem of the 2004 Dodge Intrepid

Failure Date: 01/20/2006

When driving any where any speed car will start hesitating then cut off. Sometimes if you let it sit for 15 mins it will turn back sometimes it will take longer. Very dangerous car and it's a shame to pay 487. 00 a month for a car that may very well cost you your life. In 2005 had to put it in the shop because it would not start back up. Our mechanic said it was the crank angle sensor but now in 2006 it doing it again.

3 Crankshaft Position Sensor problem of the 2004 Dodge Intrepid

Failure Date: 09/30/2005

In August 2004 we bought a 2004 Dodge Intrepid with 17,000 miles from a Dodge dealer. In September 2005 the vehicle started experiencing hesitation and stuttering at start up when the temperature fell below 40 degrees. Took it to the dealership and the mechanic said it was the crank sensor, which was replaced under warranty. Problem didn't go away. In November 2005 took the car back to the dealership. At that time the cam sensor was replaced under warranty. Some improvement was noticed. In October 2007 the dash lights started to flicker. This happened whether the car was driving or at a standstill. Back to the dealership. They said it was probably the battery. We agreed to pay for a new battery and left the car there while the battery was being replaced. The dealership test drove the car and the lights still flickered. They then determined that a ground wire was loose, probably causing the flicker. This car is 4 years old and currently has 30,000 miles. We don't drive it many miles per year and don't feel it is really reliable. No wonder Dodge stopped production on the Intrepid!!.
