Front Seat Recliner Problems of Dodge Intrepid - part 2

I was traveling on I-95 with my child when the drivers seat back suddenly made a loud pop and fell backwards. I fell backwards towards the back seat resulting in my loosing my grip on the wheel, gas, brakes, and thus loosing control of the vehicle. I was in the extrem left hand lane of I-95 traveling south. The vehicle went off into the median at 70mph, I pulled myelf up and fought to regain control of the vehicle. I was able to regain control without incident, pulled over to the emergency lane and found the linkage to the seat back broken. I got off the jupiter florida exit went to the Dodge dealer where I was told thy did not have time to look at it. I asked if I could leave the vehicle and have a loaner as my vehicle has extended warrenty and was informed they did not do that. I asked if the could at least see if there was something they could easily repair and was told no, I would have to bring the vehicle back after an appointment. I then had to drive the vehicle 30 miles back home with the back of the seat lying in the rear seat.

On a frontal impact, with about a 30 mph speed change, the right seat bottom moved forward as its anchor failed, and the split seat back failed, with a barn door effect due to poor latch placement, caused owner's 15 years old daughter to submarine forward causing the lap belt to ride up over her pelvis at the same time seat back collapsed on her, which caused terrible abdominal injuries, a chance fracture at l-3, and a severed spinal cord resulting in paraplegia. Three point belt was being properly utilized at the time of the collision, and the trunk was lightly loaded.

The driver seat back is breaking apart where the springs are coming out of the driver seat upholstery, and seatback is moving backward. It may break unexpectedly, causing a loss of vehicle control. Please provide further information.

Consumer experienced problems with front bucket seats. During an accident in which the consumer was rearended, the driver and passenger seats broke off the track. Driver and passenger sustained injuries. The manufacturer was contacted.

Consumer stepped on the gas pedal and the driver side recliner seat collapsed all the way down to the rear seats.

Consumer was driving on an inerstate hwy, the back of the drivers seat collapsed on the rear seat.

Vehicle experienced a break in the front passenger seat recliner bolt. The front passenger seat bolt broke prior to receiving the recall notice, the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the consumer was informed the recall did not cover the passenger side recliner bolt only the driver's side.

Passenger side seatback reclines unexpectedly. However there is a recall for the driver's side, but not for the passenger's side.

Consumer called complaining about having problems with the seats. Manufacturer was not contacted at the time of this call.

While driving, the back of the seat collasped, the screw came completely out that holds the seat together. Please provide any further information. Please provide vehicle identification number.

The reclining bolt was weak.

The consumer received a recall notice # 03v035000. The dealer was contacted on 5/15/2003 and stated the parts would not be available for at least three weeks. Ph.
