Takata recall there's a recall on Dodge Journeys 2009 and the sxt is having the same exact problem. The pcm is draining batteries and causing my truck to shift hard or shifts to the second gear and won't power past that. Very concerned because my wife is pregnant and she often has to press on the control board from work to get the truck crunk. Once a week she gets a jump off because the module drains her battery. Because our VIN doesn't fit the recall numbers it won't get fixed but it's the same problems as the recall.
tamara recall the pcm it's been getting very hot and messing up my computer system. I've bought 3 times and keeps on messing up my computer systems and cannot even transfer power to the alternator. This therefore make the car battery die on me when the car is in motion. It happened 3 times and one was in he middle of no where.

Bought a used 2009 Dodge Journey in February, have replaced the battery and starter in the last few months. Sometimes we can start the car normally, sometimes you have to jump the car off. Yesterday, the car would not shift or start, tried the neutral safety switch which enabled me to push the Journey but still would not crank. Research online shows that many other consumers have or are experiencing the same problem. I feel Dodge needs to take responsibility and figure out why these vehicles are malfunctioning. It's costing us money and time we do not have trying to chase down an electrical issue. I even had the pcm checked out and it too was in a good bill of health.

First incident was sometime in April 2014. While driving the engine stalled (turned off) three time daring that same day. I submitted an incident report to this office. Called Dodge corporate office and spoke to a representive named misty. She help us get the local dealership fix the pcm flash throttle body, which the dealship stated was causing the problem. Dodge has a recall on for this pcm problem on the 2010 and some 2009 Journey models. My VIN number was not covered according to Dodge, but not VIN numbers are stated on the recall notes. The secound incident happen around a week an half after the first one and after the dealship say it was fixed and safe to drive. My wife was driving with the kid on board and while exiting the freeway, the engine stalled (turned off) and had to use the emergency brake to avoid hit other cars. Called misty at corporate and took car back to dealership. Dealership now is saying the problem is the win module, which again is on the recall for the 2010 Journey, but not on the 2009. Asked dealship manager (jeff) if this would fix the problem. He stated he is not sure, but that is the next diagnostic step to take. I also aked how much it would cost to fix he stated $700 and they would not cover it, because my VIN number is not covered under the recall. Misty at corporated was trying to reduce price, but dealship is not willing to work with Dodge corporate. Misty authorized a rendal car, I'm having to pay for the insurance incase I have an accident. This needs to be investigated and all 2008, 2009, and 2010 need to be covered under the recall. All models are having the same problems.
