Vehicle will not consistently start in park. Placing the vehicle in neutral worked for a few months ths and now, after the starter and O2 sensors have been replaced, the vehicle has begun to have the same problems. Our current short term fix is to jiggle the battery cables/wiring harness and after 5 minutes that works. Hadn't had this issue for five years (as the owner) and during the past year it's been one non-start after another. Drove the vehicle for an hour without a problem starting. Stopped to get gas, tried to start the vehicle, nothing. The dash turns on, the vehicle cli is, but wont turn over. Battery, alternator, starter. . . Charging system checked out to be ok. Concerned I will be stranded without a true fix to this issue. The vehicle was stationary each time we tried to start it. Wwle even captured a video of the non-start and our resolution for the mechanic to view. They didnt wxoweince the issue; but I did, and they needed more information to trouble shoot further.

I've had nothing but problems with my Dodge Journey my rpm ramp up to 4-5 whenever I attempt to go 40-45mph the check engine light is on. I took it to button Dodge and they fixed something that has to do with my transmission. Less then a month later it starts doing it again. So can you give me some advice on why. Also my locks and windows and turn signal don't work right.
The vehicle occasionally will not start, sometimes if you turn the key and put it in neutral it may start but not anlways. Battery and starter are new. All electrical is good. The issue is an unresolved problems and I have seen several forums with this complaint on the Dodge Journey. No mechanic can pinpoint what causes this. I've been stuck several times for hours due to the vehicle not starting. It may be some security glitch or something. Dodge needs to recall this and get it fixed.
Writing in regards to a recall issued for 2009 Dodge Journeys on date 10/9/2008. The recall is Chrysler recall h33 that began on 11/10/2008. This recall addresses the powertrain control model/fuel pump relay. My vehicle is stated to have not qualified for this recall but is currently having the same dysfunction listed in the recall and is not operable. My vehicle has been diagnosed and needs a powertrain control module replacement due to malfunction. The malfunction occurs when the vehicle is powered on, when in motion, and when trying to drive. I spoke with debbie at Chrysler today and she informed me that my vehicle did not qualify for the recall h33 replacement of this part as identified by VIN, although my vehicle was manufactured within the same dates, make, model and year.
The car power will fluctuate with the rpm going up and down when trying to accelerate. New trhottle body with tps sensor, intake air sensor and gas pedal sensors were replaced and still having the same issue. The engine problem light is on also the electric throttle control system light is on. The vehicle has only 83000 miles. Active codes are p0642, p2138, p0335 & p0113. The car is dangerous to drive due to speed fluctuation.
It stalls while in gear and moving automatic transmission. Worse when temps are colder outside. Currently 99000 miles.
My 2009 Dodge Journey will not shut off when you take the key out. The windows will not go up and down. I brought into a Dodge dealership and had the recall on the ignition switch and the wiring harness in the driver door replaced. My car still will not shut off and windows still don't work but now won't go into gear after dealer repaired. I took it to a second dealer and now after 3 week they are saying I need a tipm for $1700. But they don't know if that will fix the problem? plus now the car will not start. My car is in worse shape then when I brought it into the dealership to repair? I called the corporate office and they are not willing to do anything.

The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. When the key was inserted in the ignition switch, the parked vehicle did not start. The vehicle made a clicking sound. The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle independently shifted into reverse. The failure occurred without warning. After applying the emergency brake, the vehicle was able to be stopped. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving 20 mph. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission had an internal failure and would need to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 112,000.
I was on i95 doing 70 miles an hour and my car stayed in drive and all the sudden started going in reverse. Backing me up on the highway. I had tractor trailers flying all around me. Cars going around me running off shoulder to keep from hitting me. I tried emergency brake to stop. I tried again once I got to 20 it started going in reverse again. They said it was a internal transfault and it grinding metal into my transcooler that will need to also be replaced with the transmission. If its internal and no fault of mine and almost killed me and I do not ever want to drive on a highway again from fear. Why should I have to pay for it. This should be a recall and they should have to fix it. I am very angry and upset and not rich.
The engine stalls when driving down the street and / or highway. There have been several complaints online but no one seems to know how to fix it. Also, intermittent no start when trying to start the car. No crank. 2009 Dodge Journey.
Transmission locks in low gear with no warning has happened at least 5 times.
I have had a 2009 Dodge Journey for only six months , it has a vtect transmission in it and just completely went out with now warning signs or nothing . Its hard for me to believe that there is not a recall on these kind of transmissions from what I have been reading . . . Now I'm out about $10,000 dollars. .
Left driver door wiring issue causes both front power window controls on driver side not to function when statiinary & driving. Intermittent dash warning lights flash & windshield wipers activate without driver initiation while driving. Airbag & seat belt dash warning light comes on intermittently while driving. Check engine for powretrain control module comes on intermittently while driving.
My 2009 Dodge Journey sxt will completely shut off while driving, not stopped but right in the middle of driving. This has happen 2 times sense getting it back from the dealer in January from taking it in for the recall for this very problem. This is very dangerous and now I am being told to bring it back to the dealership for a diagnostic test to see if it related to the recall and if not related then I will have to pay for the diagnosis lol yea right!! I have never heard of a car dying while driving it. If I am told I have to pay as mich as one penny the only thing I will be paying for is a lawyer.
Let it be noted that after the r03 recall all the following issues started occurring. First incident: driving about 30mph every light on the dashboard except the engine light illuminated, gauges spun around and back and forth, then stopped all together, the rmp's revved up to 5ooo and the accelerator went to the floor with no action as if the car was off. There was a obviuous loss of power, the car was hesitating like it wanted to stall out, and the vehicle once stopped did not start again until being jumped. Once started, none of the light were on except, oddly now, the engine light which threw codes po0562 & po700. The battery read 12. 2v on the diagnostic while off then 14. 4 when the car was started(after being jumped for 1 minute only). 5 minutes into the drive and boom, the demon took over the car again but now the car would not go pst maybe 7mph, again in accelerator power,no shifting, all power still on in the car, but seems low on power. Once turned off, it would not start but still had power. Again, got jumped, diagnostic, and same codes, alternator fine, battery fine, seems to be getting poor connection. Started 2 days later and loud, unstable idle, won't switch gears seems as if its on but running off of stored power. Dealer now says only code is po622. Symptoms are seeming to be the tipm all over again. Again, none of this started until I took it to Dodge to have the ro3 recall repaired. The key since also does not register at times, will say "mismatch key" on dashboard, all sensors flash then go away such as (gascap, door ajar, check engine light would ignite with no code, gate, key), wouldn't turn over, frequent :dead battery" then starts without jump few minutes later. Overtime the car will act possessed with all lights on is after hitting a bump, again Chrysler dealer recall department is stating tipm, dewlap will not check that while diagnosing. Help!.
The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle started to smoke. The contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to a dealer the next day, where it was diagnosed that there were a crack in the power unit case that needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 52,379.
For several years, the vehicle has been stalling intermittently; at traffic lights, when slowing to use an exit ramp, when trying to pull over for an ambulance, etc. . . . Also it intermittently increases to a high rpm for about 10 seconds or so, then returns to normal. This can occur at a constant speed on a level road. Dealer can not find the issue since no 'trouble' light is on. I see what seems to be a similar issue on an internet search, but have not found any cause. After several trips and several hundred dollars paid to Chrysler dealers, nothing has been found and nothing has been suggested. The stalling in traffic is very troublesome as it may cause injury to my family. For this reason, the recommendation to drive it till something breaks is not acceptable as it may be the occupants that 'break'! the last time it happened for me (both the stalling and the revving) is reported below.

Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. The contact stated the vehicle is having problems with the vehicle not starting. The transmission when changing to lower speed, clunks.
I was driving down the road, (the road has a slope) my car hit a bump in the road and shut completely off. I kept pressing the brake but it didn't stop the car from rolling down hill because there was no power to the car. My car rolled into the back of another car. This vehicle is part of a recall and I have made several trips to a dealer to get it repaired but I am told each time that the part is not available. I am afraid to drive this car. This time it was an accident the next time it shuts off it may be a fatality.
The fuel gauge stopped working causing low fuel to flash all the time and the check engine light to stay on. Trensmision trys to shift into another level at appeox. Speed of 35 to 40 mph causing bucking o rsurging motion.
While driving along the highway, with cruse control on, the vehicle lost power and decelerated. The etc and traction control lights came on on the dash. After pulling to the side of the road the vehicle was restarted. After being restarted the vehicle drove normally. This scenario has happened three times at highway speeds and once during acceleration. Around the same time of onset with the power loss issue the vehicle will not start intermittently. Sometimes it starts after several minutes, sometimes it does not start for several hours.
