While driving the vehicle in a wet parking lot the abs light and stability light came on and remained on. This has also affected the cruise control as well. There was a recall on Dodge Journeys from 2012-2015 for the same issue VIN may need included in the recall.

The cruise control does not come one or display that is is active.
I bought my vehicle in 2017. Before a year of owning it I got into a wreck because my cruise control wouldnt turn off and instead started accelerating more. Then I started having issues with my catalytic converter took it to the dealership and they said there was no way. Shortly after the rest of my systems started to go along with it now it's been about 6 months and I have a vehicle that can no longer move or so anything. Once my catalytic converter went out it started clogging the rest of my system. As of September 2019 my engine is now completely gone because of all the back up not being processed by my catcon.

Abs light, skid control light remains on, cruise control not operating at all when turned on vehicle lights came on, cruise control not working at all fear that there may be issue with brakes, have seen complaints of leakage into abs system on other year models.
My traction light and abs light is on and the cruise control will not work. Also the airbag light is on. The mechanic checked the codes but nothing is showing up.
When it rains the abs, traction control lights and service all wheel drive lights come on and the cruise control does not work . Next day soon as I drive all lights go out. It is happening more and more. . Thier is a recall for 2015 Dodge Journey for this but they say not for mine. Funny that I have same problems and same year car. This happens when driving in the rain or wet roads.
I went into my church for about 2 hours and came back out and started the car to let it cool down for my kids. As it sat idling all of a sudden my check engine light is on, my etc light is flashing, and my esc off light is on. Shut it off and turned it back on and the engine light was on. Started driving and the etc light started flashing and esc off light came on. My car slowed down from 60mph on the highway and I couldn't speed back up. I had to pull over and turn car off and back on 3 times to make it back home. To make it home I had to put cruise control on and hope I didn't get behind someone going slower than me because all the lights would come back on.
/012 Dodge Journey 2. 4 litter. While I drive the cruise control will engage automatically at 30 miles per hour. The car rapidly accelerates. I have to hit the brake to cancel it out.

When I went to dealership I knew I want a truck with 3rd row, I test drove the Journey I picked out of what was offered when I test drove the first truck, it refused to shift from 1st to 2nd gear so we went back and drove the one I purchased. Well I got it home and drove for a few days and noticed when I would take it out of park it would ,ake a loud thump noise only sometimes like I am sitting on a hill. I took it back they heard the noise said they could fix it but service said that was normal, which I strongly disagreed but my deal was funded and nothing they would do. So another month or so later I notice my gas to empty was jumping drastically I figured bad gas so I drove it out and tried again and again. Finally had it because going from 60 to 30 in 2 miles is major that same week I used my cruise control for maybe the 3rd time since I had the vehicle and it would not keep a steady speed I went up 5 mph faster than I set it and then dropped it did this until I cancelled the cruise. I immediately made an appointment with the dealer they have had it a week and no word from them yet. Meanwhile I have researched and see the same issues I am having lead to more issues like the brakes not stopping the vehicle and I travel 100 miles back and forth to work and have small children that is a very uneasy feeling. The other issues like the radio freezing inbetween changing from blue-tooth to radio so I have to drive that entire hour trip to work without any music unless I stop and restart the car. Also when I get off the highway a lot of times the sensor for the speed and radio finally kicks in and the radio plays extremely loud like I am still on the highway and the entire ride the radio would not turn up pass the low volume.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Dodge Journey. While driving 30 mph, the contact's vehicle accelerated on its own. Also, when the cruise control was engaged, it would seize and fail to deactivate. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to scott evans Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, ram (2280 bankhead hwy, carrollton, GA 30116, (770) 834-5050), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer stated that the remedy would not be available until next month. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 38,123.
There are times when my abs light comes in and my cruise control won't work and the anti skid lights is in. The brakes half way make this grind noise and I need feel the brakes locking up but not all the way but sure gets your attention. It's happened a couple times while just driving or going down road or stopping on city streets moving straight.
Cruise control sticks when using it on the highway and I have to press the cancel button multiple times to take it off while other times the cruise control won't work at all.
Returning from a trip to mi back to my residence in TN. As I made a turn into my subdivision I started to accelerate to my next turn when I experienced a sudden acceleration of my vehicle. I had been using the vehicles cruise control as much as possible during the 10 hour drive home so it felt familiar, like the cruise control was trying to accelerate my vehicle. As the vehicle was accelerating and I was steering the through the curves in the road I had removed my foot from the gas pedal and tried hitting the cruise control off button several times. This had no effect in stopping or slowing the acceleration. The total distance from my turn into the subdivision to the end of the road or next intersection was roughly 250-300 yards all downhill so we picked up speed quickly. By the time I realized I could not effect or slow down the acceleration by shutting off the cruise control my next thought was to hit the brakes but we had run out of road. At this point I chose a direction where I saw no houses or large trees. We hit an area where it sloped up about 30 degrees then flattened out then sloped up again coming closer to other houses. I'm guessing we were traveling about 50-55 mph when I went off the road. We finally came to a stop after hitting both slopes and the closest houses back yard deck and then into a tree. I had my family in the vehicle with me; my wife, two sons and daughter. One of my sons was taken to the hospital via ambulance for back pain and a cut above his eye which required 8-9 stitches. The rest of my family were checked out with no injuries to speak of at that time. Only at the hospital I learned of the recall for the cruise control and an explanation of the cause and effect it had. The recall explanation fit verbatim to what happened to us. We had not received any notification for the recall on this vehicle or the other Dodge vehicle we own.

We purchased a lease 2017 Dodge Journey gt on 1/10/2018. I currently have approx. 4300 miles on it. We had the cruise control recall taken care of, at a dealership on June 11, 2018. The first time I used the cruise control after getting the recall done, I was going 72mph on my way to work and my entire car shut down. No steering, no brakes, no radio, the interior lights on the dash were on, but nothing else. I was able to make it to the side of the road, the car wouldn't do anything for approx. 2-3 min, after that amount of time, I was able to get it started again, but did not drive it. I called my husband to bring me his vehicle so I could go to work. He drove it home and said there were no issues, but he didn't use the cruise. On June 18, 2018, the day after it happened. I took the car back to the dealership, they had my car for 6 hrs, drove 27 miles and found nothing. On July 5,2018 I was on my way home from work at approx 11pm, I was driving on our local turnpike and had the cruise control set at 72. The vehicle would not keep speed, it kept going down to 65mph then would rev 6-7rpm and get back up to 72. Once I turned the cruise control off, the vehicle kept trying to speed up on its own. I was able to keep it from speeding up by applying the brake as I was driving. I am not comfortable driving this vehicle so, we try and use our other vehicle as much as possible but, we both work 50-56hrs a week. This vehicle is and has a safety issue the issues with this car has nothing to do with my driving, the heat, the cold or anything, this is a major safety issue with the vehicle.
While on a family trip to san diego from my home in riolinda CA we experienced a strong jerk motion followed by a acceleration while the car was driving in cruise control. My husband tried to remove the cruise control so that he can return to controlling the acceleration himself and it was still accelerating more. He slammed and then continuously slammed on the brakes almost rear ending another vehicle. We have refrained from using cruise control.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Dodge Journey. While operating the vehicle, the abs and traction control indicators remained illuminated. Also, the cruise control stopped operating. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the front passenger side wheel bearing sensor was faulty and needed to be replaced. The sensor was replaced and the failure was remedied; however, the failure recurred approximately one year later. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 39,000.
I just became aware that a recall was made for my vehicle, a 2017 Dodge Journey. Last year I had an accident in norristown, PA after my car failed to stop or slow down while attempting to turn left with cruise control activated on a city street. My vehicle went up a hill, over a couple of fences, before stopping against a tree. A few inches further right and my 17 year old daughter might have been badly hurt or killed. My car had body damage, the bumper torn off, the passenger doors damaged, the radiator and ac damaged (ac still doesn't work), and I needed to have the condenser replaced. I knew the car had malfunctioned, but never received any calls or letters about any recalls despite buying the car brand new.
This was a rental car from avis. While driving at approx 70mph with the cruise control engaged, the windshield wipers came on by themselves, all dial instruments went to zero and all the electronic alerts (oil, over heat, tire pressure, etc) annunciated. The throttle remained locked at the cruise setting and would not disengage with activation of the brakes or cruise control button. I was able to over power the engine with the brakes and get the car to the side of the road. It was still running at an engine speed to support 70mph and fighting the brakes. The push to start/stop engine control would not work. I eventually got the car into just rap and then park. At this time, it would not turn over. A weaker person would most certainly been involved in a bad accident. I was concerned the car would catch on fire as the brakes smoked significantly. Tom kraft 316-573-8830.
Two days ago my abs and esc light came on, I have also noticed since then I have no cruise control. In the winter here the roads are quite sick, and the antilock brakes that are on this vehicle no longer function. When I was driving into work and came to a stop light, I tried to stop and kept sliding as a result.
Tl- the contact owns a 2017 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that there was a progressing failure with there being a delay when the push to star function was used, air in the brakes when the brake pedal had been applied and the cruise control failed to function to the contact stopped using the feature. Months later, the contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 18v332000 (electrical system, vehicle speed control) and the dealer goldy Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (187 kinetic dr, huntington, wv 25701) indicated that they would schedule an appointment for the recall repair June 27th. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was waiting to determine if they may provide further testing and diagnosis recommendations to the dealer in addition to the recall repair. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Dyd.
While having my cruise control on I passed a semi going uphill. As soon as I got around it and back into the right lane it lost speed significantly. I pulled onto the shoulder and stopped. After about 30 seconds I pulled back onto the highway and built up my speed again. About 10-20 minutes later the exact same thing happened again. I did not feel safe passing anymore vehicles. I continued on home which was 2 1/2 hours away. Just 1 mile before getting home my engine light came on. All this happened on Sunday July 22 about 1 pm. We had just purchased this Dodge on July 17, 2017. Monday I went to the dealership where we had purchased it. They told me that there was a recall on the cruise control. When I looked up any recalls it doesn't show any. Is my dealer lying to me? are they hiding something I should know about?.
My car is exhibiting all of the problems that other 2012 Dodge Journeys are under a recall for, regarding the abs, and traction control, but I'm being told by the dealer that my car isn't covered under this recall. I have resurched and quite a few people are having this same issue, and being denied the recall. The recall needs to be expanded. My car has 110000 miles on it. I had the brakes changed last year by the dealership, and they have continued to make noises like a spinning rusty wheel, and now I have lost my abs, and traction control, which then takes my cruise control. Cars should not come apart just because they reach the 100000 mile mark. I can clearly see I'm not the only person dealing with this same issue, so they need to look into this!.
Purchased new in 2012. Dodge Journey sxt the tires developed cord separation at 22,000 km. Manufacturer kumho. Neither Chrysler nor kumho would offer any compensation. Even had 4 wheel alignment done that checked out ok to make sure it was not the problem. Replaced them with american made tires and so far no issues. My advise to new car purchasers is have tires if off shore replaced with domestics as part of offer to purchase. Secondly vehicle to date only has 37,000 km and brake rotors developed a warp. Pulsation is being felt upon moderate braking. I am not one to be hard on brakes and have never had to panic stop thus not having to over heat the brakes. Next issue the cruise control will not engage when the button is pushed. The clock on the radio does not keep time . This is not our daily driver and the warranty has run out time wise. To date only just over 37,000 km. I own 2 other n. A. Vehicles by gm and Ford 2001 and 1999 respectively . The 01 sunfire 455,000 km 4 sets of pads and original rotors and drums and f150 with 157,000 2nd set of pads and original rotors so you can see it is not a poor driving style. Very disappointed with Chrysler products . Have to take the Journey back to dealer for service to see what can be done and will be getting hold of Chrysler rep, this one is more in the shop than in my driveway thanks to gm and Ford for keeping me rolling. If no positive results from dealer or Chrysler I will not recommend their product to anyone from my experiences. I hope some one at Chrysler reads this comment. I would certainly like to hear their response. Having read many forums only to find out many are having the same issues with the same vehicles.
They're are recalls for all the issues I'm having with my vehicle but when I put the VIN in it doesn't fall under the recall list. I don't see how they can choose what cars to fix if the same problems and parts are on all them. So I guess Dodge is definitely not the vehicle to buy since they don't stand behind they're work. I was driving and the abs light and traction control light came on and cruise control stopped working. And from what I've been told it's the brake sensor and that's one of the recalls my vehicle VIN doesn't fall under.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that the abs warning indicator kept randomly flashing. The contact also heard an abnormal loud noise when applying and releasing the brake pedal. Also, at various points in time, the brake pedal failed to function and the cruise control intermittently failed to work. The dealer (chris myers Dodge Chrysler Jeep (27163 us-98, daphne, al 36526, (251) 621-8885) indicated that they serviced the vehicle with a warranty and cleared the code, but had not specified a specific repair diagnosis for the brake failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 34,400.
The contact owns a 2015 Dodge Journey. While driving at various speeds, the cruise control failed to disengage when the brake pedal was depressed. As a result, the vehicle accelerated. The contact depressed the brake pedal again before the cruise control was disengaged. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed, but the cause of the failure was not found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure.
