Dodge Journey owners have reported 7 problems related to rearview system braking (under the back over prevention category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Dodge Journey based on all problems reported for the Journey.
The rear view camera has become unreliable. It sometimes flickers. It sometimes is upside down. It is sometimes gray. It works properly about 10% of the time. I believe it was a significant contributor to my backing into and damaging another vehicle in a parking lot. I understand that there is a recall notification (NHTSA 25v552; Chrysler 59c) for the Dodge Journey beginning with model year 2019. This vehicle is a 2016. I am not overly concerned about the specific accident noted above but do consider this a serious risk that should be reported.

The backup camera randomly works. When it does work, within minutes it slowly fades from a picture to a black screen.

The back up camera on my 2019 Dodge Journey is currently displaying either a blue, black or upside down picture. This is the same problem that is described in your recall notice for Dodge Journeys made between may of 2019 and February of 2020. My car was built in March of 2019. Is the NHTSA reviewing production of cars made prior to may of 2019?.

Approximately two weeks ago, my back up camera, which is located on my rearview mirror started flickering off and on and then it flips upside down and I’ve done some research on the internet and it says that a lot of people has had this issue with the Dodge Journey in the back up camera so I find this to be a safety issue and I believe this is something that Dodge should be fixing for their consumers.

I purchased my 2020 in April of 2021 brand new. When I’m driving my SUV, it will stall and not pick up speed, but my rpm still rise. Both of my front headlights fog all the time and have been replaced multiple times. The fog makes the lightbulbs blow and they have been replaced multiple times. The back up camera is turns upside down stops working when it wants to goes black and also has a green light. It was replaced by the dealership and started doing the same things again after one month. There is also an issue with my radio. It works when it once the volume stops working when he wants and the bluetooth works when he wants it has also been replaced by the dealership and now they won’t replace it again because it has been replaced.
My backup camera doesn’t work at all! just a black screen. So it doesn’t comply with the law… I can’t see to back up at all. If you google the 2018 Journey it says there is a recall on the backup camera but when I put my VIN number in it doesn’t pop up as a rd all but this needs to be a recall and is very dangerous it hasn’t ben inspected but it readily available if h would like to came inspect it. There was no lamps warning signs or anything. ?.
When put in reverse? the camera either doesn’t come on or it’s looks upside down on the review mirror. It makes it extremely difficult to back up in public areas when there is so many blind spots in the back. Also the electrical system has issues- bluetooth, cruise control, volume will go up loud on its own, check engine light stays on and it says fuel cap seal is basically messed up and it’s been replaced multiple times and won’t change it’s reading. The real cause is the small leak off fuel injection system tank. Also can’t get the hands free call system on the wheel to work properly.
