We've owned this vehiclenot even 4 years. It had an engine recall that it was part of. It says it was repaired, however it never recieved a new engine. Now I just spent $9,000+ to replace the entire engine because of the exact issue of the recall: metal fragments in the engine. Why did I pay for this recall problem? did Dodge replace the engine during the recall? paperwork says no, but shows it was "repaired". If it was replaced, why did I replace it again for the exact same issue? Dodge has financially ruined our family. Besides this $9k we've spent $6k on engine work before the new engine, $4,500 on transmission work (with more to come as we're currently experiencing transmission issues) and $6k + on all kinds of issues that has never occurred on any vehicles I have owned in the last 30 years. And we've spent all this in under 4 years. This is unacceptable! for an american auto maker to produce and sell vehicles like this. This is why we people buy foreign. This Dodge is not a well built, trustworthy and dependable car. You won't believe how many times we've had to miss school and work because the car was broken down or being repaired. Our Honda civic was 20 years old, ran better and was 100% dependable. I never had to replace the engine, do any transmission work or have had half the problems with my civic than I have had and currently have with this "american" car that is only 11 years old. As a 1 income family with 2 kids in college and one still in high school, this is completely devastating to us. Trying to save money and get ahead and all of it has been spent fixing this vehicle. Dodge has completely devastated our family. How can an american auto maker be allowed to get away with producing vehicles like this? why should I have to go bankrupt owning a Dodge? why won't they accept responsibility for their defective product? I've spent $25,000 fixing this Dodge in 4 years. I can't afford to fix it or buy a new car. We're ruined.

We had problems with axels. After that the throttle control system light would turn on. Now the backup camera doesnt work and we changed everything and still doesnt work. Currently the car starts getting hot when we drive in the freeway and the ac blows hot air.
The electrical is so messed up the battery drains within hours, I have shorts in all aspects of this car(bluetooth, navigation, clicking relays nonstop, heat goes out intermittently, power switches on doors. I saw my headlights surging in power in the middle of nowhere, they would get bright, then go dim, then a battery icon illuminated on my dashboard before my car downshifted so hard I almost lost control of the car. The dealer replaced my motor mounts and my alternator, after calling to say my battery is bad and then turned around and said it wasn’t. Not to mention my brakes locked up in a little rain and I couldn’t stop crashing through a wall. Replaced my rear light turning bulb and it exploded with fire when I went to change it. The suspension is horrible and I am pretty sure my cv axles are all broken. Everything keeps breaking. Lifter taps intermittently, rough idling and hard shifting. Key fob doesn’t start car or is recognized with fresh batteries in it. When I jump start it sometimes the horn goes off for a minute. The reverse camera goes out for days and randomly comes on again. Under the hood feels so extremely hot and for some reason it doesn’t register as overheating. Even when I check fluids and for the coolant levels are low for some reason. There is an actuator that constantly is going off under the dash. Airbags didn’t deploy when I hit the wall at all. The limp mode has come on and gone off a few times. Only codes I have is for tps and an outdoor ambient temperature sensor that says it’s either negative 40 degrees or 122 degrees. Which won’t let me clear nor allow me to remote start. Warranty is gone and when you take the fuse box cover off under the hood(just the cover) it goes haywire shaking and lights all over the dash and I have to shut the car off. Yes somebody please inspect this vehicle. The absolute worst vehicle I owe 12k on and I can’t afford to fix all of this that’s shutting down at the same time.
I purchased a 2013 Dodge Journey approximately 8 months ago. Before I bought it I asked the salesperson if the front end was out of alignment, as it pulled to the right. He told me everything was checked, and it was in excellent condition. He told me the reason it pulled to the right is that the roads were made with a slight slant for water to run off. It continued to pull, although it was drivable. When the snow fell, oct. 2021, and the roads were packed with snow and ice I could barely keep the vehicle on the road. It kept wanting to swerve off the road to the right. I had to drive 20 miles an hour to and from work on bad roads. There were times I had to stop as I felt little to no control. I had never had anything like this happen to me. I called iron trail motors in virginia, mn (where I purchased it) and explained what was happening. The person I spoke to said their car was slipping back and forth, also. She said she had an SUV and they aren't easy to control in the winter. I've had to replace 3 different wheel bearings in that time. I was just in the shop last week. They told me the reason the wheel bearings were going is the lr and rr upper and lower control arms were bad. Lateral links. They must have been bad when I bought the vehicle, along with many other repairs. The work they need to do is $1200 -$1700. I was informed driving with a bad control arm is dangerous. To start, a control arm is a hinged suspension link situated between the chassis and the suspension upright or hub that attaches to the wheel. If something is wrong with the control arm, the following can happen: your steering will be unpredictable and hard to control your vehicle may pull to one side, even when you are holding the steering wheel straight it still needs to be repaired.

The airbag light came on intermittently but now has stayed permanently. The suspension of the car become almost uncontrollably bouncy with the slightest dip or hump on the road. The bouncing continues for a couple miles and at times does make steering difficult. The tires are 4 months old and the car has been serviced at regular intervals.

I am going through rear tires every couple months. We have taken by car to get looked at and they said everything looks good. However I can put new tires on and then 2 or 3 months later they are bald with the wiring coming out of them.
I got my 2018 Dodge Journey crossroad new with only 36 miles on it from the dealership. I've had nothing but problems with my front passenger side camber being out of line. I had to have my struts replaced under warranty. Camber not adjustable, dealer under warranty made whole bigger for adjustment. My 2018 Dodge Journey crossroad now only has 64,000 miles and my front passenger side top camber bolt broke and my wheel fell outward. Thank god I was just pulling out of my driveway making a right hand turn when it happened.
My awd light is on and when I was driving my SUV rear wheels spin my SUV around in the middle of the highway and I almost caused an accident. On highway 84 going toward mississippi.
My sound system is not working. Once the vehicle reached 200,848 miles it stopped working, then the next day the led hatch light she'd working?I came out to get in the vehicle and turned it on it didn't work?.

We were driving the car when steering suddenly became almost impossible. It was frightening and dangerous. We were finally able to muscle the car to the side of the road, dodging traffic all the way, and stop. We took it to the shop and were informed the rack and pinion steering had gone out. We took the car to the shop and the mechanic told us what had happened. The repair work was very expensive but what was shocking was to find out that this has been an ongoing problem with the Journey which Dodge has elected to ignore. Below is a link to one site which reports this. This is irresponsible. . Read more...
Vehicle randomly shuts off when driving it transmission seems to have wiring sensor issue jerks randomly car repeatedly says needs oil change when it doesn't and there are no leaks.
The vehicle continuously stalls while I'm driving. I have not driven on the highway because it's a major safety issue. The horn goes off crazily sometimes while parked. And, recently while driving locally in my neighborhood the car over heated. The engine light comes on off , and sometimes I have to wait a while before I can get the car to start. I have brought it to a private mechanic on numerous occasions and he's unsure of what's going on and questions recall. I have spent thousands of dollars and it's been a frustrating Journey with this Journey.
I have taken it gotten it fix so many times the light will stay off for a week then the check engine lights keep coming on saying the same thing over and over. Then it will add more things that is wrong. It will cut off while driving all the lights come on. I won't get on freeway scared it will just cut off.

Vehicle makes a ticking noise while playing the radio and or driving on the freeway and going over 60 mph. There is also loud banging noise on the driver side passenger seat as if air or something is hitting the vehicle. Tired don't hold pressure and driving at times seems uneven or off track as well.

The rear arms on the tire wheels bent in causing the tires to go completely wore down on the insides. It was hard to see because the middle and outside were fine. It cost $457. 00 to repair the garage said this was common. I have therepair records I don't know hoe to send online . If the tires had blown it could have been really bad as I drive 80 miles round trip a day to work. Have'nt fixed brakes yet but the rotors are shaking when I hit the brakes.
The rear driver side cambridge cant be adjusted and it is wearing my tires. Alignment shop is saying that they cant be adjusted so they cant align my car- is there a recall on this? how can this be fixed went to two places one in December 2017 and one this month January 2018.

My Dodge Journey has less than 70,000 miles on it. At this point the entire rear drive shaft and all motor and transmission mounts have been replaced. They were all severely damaged. Tires show significant wear even though vehicle is within alignment standards. The far left vent (driver's side) blows cool air, but the other three front vents are blowing heat. There is a severe, loud roaring sound that has yet to be diagnosed. This is a ridiculous amount of problems in such a short time of vehicle usage.
My catalytic convertor is bad, and I'm only at 85,286 miles. I can't believe this part is already bad on a 2 year old car. This happened when I was driving, and my check engine light came on. Nothing specific happened that should cause this issue. Also, my struts are leaking. I didn't even know this until I had my car checked at the dealership. Why are these parts failing already?.
My car I bought 9/2015 has had 3 transfer cases at 3,000. 00 each and now needs another, cracked and leaking. At this point it now needs the also need intermediate shaft that goes into the transfer case and is not available anywhere in the united states, according to Dodge. I have a loan on this vehicle and unable to drive since sept 20th, 2017. I wrote to the attorney general in masachusetts. Received a letter on oct 12, 2017 from them , telling me to contact your dept right away. I drive my vehicle on city streets. I saw leaking while I was in parking lot at work on sept 15,2017 . I brought back to aamco on sept 16, they called Dodge because this would be number 4 transfer case. They told them I had to bring to a Dodge dealership, which I did. Aamco put in 3 transfer cases. Harr Dodge in worcester, MA diagnosed on sept 20, 2017 and that is when I found out what it needs. With no part available in the entire united states. They need to recall this car now, not years. 2009 Dodge Journeys.
On August 3rd 2017 I purchased a 2012 Dodge Journey with 32000 miles. On August 4 2017 I picked the vehicle up. I noticed that evening that the front right headlight was not working. I brought the car back to the dealer and they fixed it. On August 13, 2017 the tire pressure light came on. I went to fill the tire but it seemed fine. I figured it was just a sensor that needed to be fixed. August 15, 2017 the change oil light came on even though it didn't need to be serviced. August 17, 2017 as I went to put the car in drive the car seemed to be pulling and the traction control light came on. Then the abs light and the maintenance awd light came on along with the others. The car will hesitate to accelerate and makes a kind of grinding noise off and on. The lights don't always stay on and will come off the screens but eventually they do come back on and grinding underneath the car starts again.
When you drive the car accelerate and when you break the car gos side by side and the back passenger side wheel makes a load noise like its losse this happen after the first recall.
My new car "jumps" when it hits a bump going around 40-60 mph. It feels like it lifts up into the air and it comes down in another place, fairly close but different. I suspect the frame is warpedbecause of an accident but perhaps it is the alignment?.
Severe shaking at 60mph and above. Numerous attempts to correct the issue through dealership, private mechanics with balancing and high speed balancing did not correct the issue. It was determined through several mechanics that the abs module is no longer working and could contribute to the shaking of the vehicle. The dealership advised the manufacturer does not make these parts anymore. I tried purchasing a rebuilt abs and it did not work as it was not compatible with my VIN. This is the second Dodge Journey I have owned and both have had the shaking issue. My automatic braking system and cruise control will no longer work as a result of the abs failure, which makes this very dangerous to drive. I only have around 90,000 miles on this car and planned to keep it long term, but finding that I cannot get parts. I have also always had many problems with the fuel system. The light goes on all the time for the fuel cap even when it is on. The dealership advised it is the closure for the fuel tank that keeps having an issue. I smell fuel inside my car as soon as I turn it off after driving.
2014 Dodge Journey. Consumer writes in regards to water stains on back cargo liner caused by water leaks from antenna base/ back washer hose/rear harness grommet and other locations. Consumer has concerns of electrical problems. The consumer stated while driving a clunk was heard and the vehicle began to shake. When the gas pedal was depressed the engine just revved and would not shift gears. A few days later the vehicle would no longer move, leaving the driver stranded. A spring popped in the transmission causing the torque converter to fail. A week later the transmission began leaking fluid. A bushing and seal cracked. The vehicle was repaired. The consumer would like to have the vehicle bought back in full. Updated 06/14/2017.
Have a 2015 Journey. Suspension has been replaced, cooling system replaced, and now transmission replaced. Seat belts keep not working right with lights coming on. Air conditioning will not shut off on it's own. Have had it to the dealer for at least 11 weeks so far this year at 5 different times. Still having problems with the steering wheel vibration over 50 miles, air conditioner not shutting off and vechile hesitates a lot. Gears do not shit correctly from park to reverse.
Front end clunks when you turn the wheels while driving.
The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that the front suspension failed. The front end shook and vibrated out of control. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the front end tie rod, brakes, calipers, and rotors were prematurely worn. The reason for the failures was unknown. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 61,653.
The front suspension and sway bar with all attachments should be recalled. I am not sure if other 2015 Dodge Journey users have experienced this or not but since I got my car in 2016 I have had to replace all the parts on 4 different occasions. It is ridiculous and to me is a safety issue.
