37 Suspension problem of the 2013 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 08/03/2016

Axle nuts - 2013 Dodge Journey, felt as though the vehicle was going to buckle under the front end, especially if I had to make a sudden stop. I loud clunk type noise would accompany the jolt feeling. Began occurring more often, to include when vehicle would shift. Took it into the shop the first time, and the order was written up as 're-torque the axle nuts'. Issue continued, but was always described as 'could not duplicate the issue'. After numerous attempts, I was told that they had to replace the axle nuts as it looks as though they had been compromised. I informed them of the previous fix, and was told that you can not re-torque axle nuts, they should have been replaced. The dealership tried to make me pay, as it was something not covered under warranty until I brought up what they had done, so they took the loss. I would think that the axle nuts should have never become loose to begin with, as it seems as if it would be a high risk factor in liability. First occurrence: November 2014 second occurrence: August 2016.

39 Suspension problem of the 2010 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 06/23/2016

In June 2016 I took my car to bettehausen Dodge in tinley park, IL. They did some repairs and since then the horn goes off by itself. The car can be parked with the motor off or you could be driving in traffic and the horn will blow. I took the car back to bettenhausen in August 2016 they did another computer update and the horn is still going off by itself. The horn was find until I took it to bettenhausen in June. Once they finished working on it they horn blows sporadically. Again in August 2016 I had my car towed to bettenhausen because the car broke down. Upon bettenhausen reviewing my car they stated it was the heater hose, a gasket and the anti freeze bottle had a hole in it. It cost me $582. 00 for that repair. The service department also informed me that I needed front and rear motor mounts broken, front and rear struts blown out, front and rear brake pads and rotors warped and worn, right rear wheeling bearing excessive noise. These are major repairs and will cost major money. Why didn't bettenhausen inspect my car thoroughly in June when it was towed in? I think these things were wrong with the car in June but it was inspected by the service department. So I drove around for months with all this wrong with my vehicle. What if I couldn't stop, or a wheel fell off while I was driving the expressway? it was under warranty in June and now it is not and these are major safety hazzards.

45 Suspension problem of the 2010 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 07/16/2015

Breaks have to be replaced at least every 2 months. My car continues to overheat and we have the thermostat 5 different times. We have to keep turning the key off and on til the car decides to start. I have contacted the people about this and they keep telling me that there is no recall for my VIN number. It needs to be added because it is obviously an issue with more than just my car. I will contact an attorney because now that it is out of warranty they tell me I will have to pay to have the issues resolved the start issue is of course stationary the break problem is while driving and so is the over heating issue was driving down the road heard a scraping noise and the front bumper was talking off and the bumper bar was loose. These are apparently very dangerous cars and all should be recalled.

47 Suspension problem of the 2014 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 03/01/2015

Our vehicle would vibrate while we were driving at highway speeds. We thought this was a normal thing with the Dodge Journey but asked the dealership to look at the issue anyways. After an inspection, our tires on our 6-month old car had been worn down and needed to be replaced. The tire company requested an alignment check and it was discovered that the right side inner and outer tie rods are bent. We have not been in any accidents/car collisions. I have contacted the Chrysler corp about this issue who is looking into it further but claim there may have been some physical damage to the vehicle. We have been in no accidents and have only had cosmetic work done to the left side door (paint only).

49 Suspension problem of the 2012 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 08/15/2013

Started getting a lot of grunting from the front end when going over bumps and turning into driveway. The dealer looked at it and retightened front end parts and so far seems to be ok. Also the dual temperature control only blew hot air on passenger side. The dealer had to order a new servo unit for the temperature control. The dealer was very good about it. Have a lot of same concerns as other peoples compliants.

51 Suspension problem of the 2009 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 05/07/2013

I have been having problems with my 2009 Dodge Journey. I also have problems trying to turn it on sometimes. I believe it might be the key or ignition. I bought a new battery thinking my old one was dead and it also started great for a few weeks and then it started doing it again. Sometimes I turn the key around and it turns on fine and sometimes it does not. It is frustrating because sometimes it does it when I am away from home. I am also having problems with my front brakes or suspension because when I press on the brakes my steering wheel starts to shake. I had my brake pads and rotors checked and they are good. I just do not know what else to do because every trip to the mechanic costs money. There should be a recall on this vehicle!.

52 Suspension problem of the 2009 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 04/15/2013

Have had the rack and pinion fixed 1 1/2 years ago and it is leaking again. Have had to put 3 sets of brake pads on in 3 years. Also had to put new rotor and brake caliper on right front due to brake locking up! this car only has 53,600 miles on it and has been one thing after another breaking down on it. Been told by two Dodge machanics this should not be happening. Would like for the dealer to do something about it. Been told there were recalls on this car and we have never gotten one in the mail. Help!!.

53 Suspension problem of the 2012 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 09/22/2012

I purchased the vehicle on June 15,2012. Unexpectedly, on September 22, 2012 my vehicle lost control at the location I 287nb exit 41a parsippany ramp onto 80 e traffic then my vehicle lost control and slammed onto the guard rail repeatedly. I immediately notified john johnson of the incident and I pleaded for them to send me a tow truck because of my 100,000 mi warranty. Further, I contacted the manufacturers Chrysler group and explained the situation. Eventually, because of the accident cause and effect they took the vehicle and send for a contractor inspector from pennsylvania to inspect the car. After the inspection, the contractor contacted me and told me he is sending in the report to Chrysler and wait a week before contacting them for a copy of the report. Moreover, I followed up, and Chrysler could not tell me who was handling my case. Finally, after pursuing my case someone told me that my vehicle case file was closed and sent to the legal department because it was determined that my vehicle steering wheel went out. Further, I was told that someone would be in contact with me shortly. No one contacted me and several weeks passed and I still didn't hear anything from the Chrysler group. I tried again until I got an answer and I was told to expect a letter and no further information was provided. Eventually, after a long wait, I received a letter that stated that my claim is denied and that the inspector did not find any manufacturing defect that caused the accident. I asked for a copy of the report and Chrysler refuse to provide me with the inspection report that gathered information from the vehicle imaging onboard computer systems. Additionally, I am still without my car or a car. My family and I have had pain and suffering and hardship over this ordeal. And I am still making monthly payments for a car I don't have or drive. Can you please help me?.

54 Suspension problem of the 2012 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

I purchased this car new on July 23,2012, and almost immediately there was a loud groaning noise from the front end, also started to pull to the right. My first dealer contact was on sept 4, 2012 and worked on the brakes, and this somewhat corrected the problem for about a week. The dealer has worked on the steering and brakes a total of 8 times, replacing the brakes several times, also deglazeing and lubricating and whatever, each time it worked for a week or so. The last time , April 29, 2014, a complete brake job was done on the rear brakes, a front end alignment, and repair the front brakes. This cost me $499. 00. Mileage is 46700. They also rebuilt the engine due to head and valve failure. As of may 25, 2015 it is again making the noise and pulling hard to the right. I think Chrysler should take this car back. VIN [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

55 Suspension problem of the 2010 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 06/18/2012

I have had my tires replace about every 25,000 miles the are wearing really bad on the inside I have had alignments done and there is no issue with the alignment I have spent over $1000 on tires not sure if it is caused by the brakes and rotors being bad. I've had them replaced twice also.

56 Suspension problem of the 2011 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 08/27/2011

I purchased at new 2011 Dodge Journey crew in February 2011, with 5 miles. During the course of a few months, I noticed that the drive was a little bumpy. I assumed that the uneven ride was due to low pressure in the tires or balancing issues. I reported this issue to the dealer in July 2011. The vehicle was evaluated with the following outcome: rotors and brake pads needed to replaced, balance tires and re-aligned tire pressure. The dealer ordered new rotors/pads and I returned 2 weeks later for installation. A few months later, I started experiencing the same uneven ride and complained to the dealer. This complaint resulted in my tires being replaced (mechanic stated I had 2 bad tires). The mechanic also stated that the old tires had some wearing on them (most likely due to unbalance tires). My complaints to the dealership started to increase and resulted in a visit every other month to have my tires balanced. Needless to say, my rotors and pads had to be replaced a second time in March 2012 (24k miles). I worked through Chrysler case management on this replacement and I had to pay a $100 deductible for the repair (not sure why, but needed my car to make a living). My vehicle was back in the shop in April 2012 for balancing issues. The dealer forced balanced my vehicle (this was the second forced balancing on my vehicle). On April 20, 2012, I had another visit to the dealer just to be told that they replaced my front left and right axles, in an effort to fix my balancing issues. Needless to say, this has not resolved my uneven driving issues and I am back at the case management stage. Throughout my entire year and a half with this vehicle, several dealerships have told me the Dodge Journey has been known to have this type of issues.

Replaced brakes and had rotors turned. Rotors warped and fromt and rear brakes gone again at 35,245 miles one year later. Replaced front rotors and all 4 sets of brakes.
