6 Suspension problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 05/24/2012

I have not had a complete failure. Waiting on that to happen. I purchased a brand new 2005 Dodge Magnum sxt with v6, automatic transmission in 2005 from a dealership. It had approximately 36 miles on it. I have not had the pulling to the right everyone else had, but it does make a funny scrubbing sound while driving as if the tire was rubbing against the car on the right rear passenger side and several other problems that are common. I have depressed the brake and felt vibrations from pedal on several occasions. The car doesn't seem to be able to stop completely. I even got out to look, thinking I hit something. A few months ago, the power outlet located inside the astray stopped working. It blew a fuse, I replaced it. Then, two weeks ago, the power outlet in the console stopped working. Just two days ago, the battery went dead for the second time in three months. I replaced the battery again. Now all the sudden the ac/heater stopped working. You can hear it trying to come on, but the fan motor doesn't seem to be coming on. We've noticed that the headlights seem to surge at night. I will be taking our car in to the dealership, along with copies of complaints from other consumers.

7 Suspension problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 04/01/2012

I was driving when the vehicle failed to accelerate over 55 mph (sometimes it would not go over 35 mph). The failure resolved temporarily when the vehicle was restarted. When this does occur the electronic throttle position and traction control light both come on and the car revs up loudly until it is shut off. It is dangerous when you are going 65-70 mph on the highway and the car drops down to 35 mph. Now that the weather is colder it happens more often including as soon as you start the car. There also is a lot of shaking while on the highway or while braking. I took the car to a Dodge dealer and they said the suspension is extremely loose, which again is dangerous because the wheel could just fall off. I also have the problem that I cannot get the gear out of park at any point. I did find the recall and called Chrysler, but they say my VIN is not part of the recall (why not? it is the same problem). They notated it, but have not done anything to help me. I have to keep my car in neutral and put the emergency brake on anytime I park. There have been several occasions I cannot park in spots because even with the brake on the car still rolls. I have read several other complaints on here and see these are all common problems and may all have recalls and I feel my car should be included in those.

8 Suspension problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 10/20/2011

I am the second owner of this vehicle purchased in 2007. At 60,000 I had the rack in pinion replaced at about 1000 dollars, next was the cooling fan at 75,000 miles (cost 700. 00 dollars). Then at about 90,000miles the water pump, thermostat, tension pulley and timing belt had to be changed for a grand total of 1300 hundred. I am now at 100,000 miles. I have had suspension issues since about 40,000 miles have maintained oil changes and maintenance. This seems unfair!.

12 Suspension problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 06/06/2007

Bottoming out at less than 5 mph under normal operating conditions, severe grunting/groaning when backing out of parking spot and hitting brakes, frequent alignment needed (every 2 - 3k miles), frame bolts need periodic torquing. Multiple servicing under warranty on suspension. Car now has 57000 miles and again has warranty repairs for suspension issues and now they tell me that rear frame needs to be replaced because bushings are shot - priced at several thousand dollars - stating bushings are not covered under warranty. These are serious defects.

13 Suspension problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 01/23/2007

2005 Dodge Magnum rt, continental tires started showing tread wear at 6000 miles. Dealer at 9000 miles made note of unusual tread wear and blamed it on excessive speed. At 11,000 miles 2 out of the 4 tires were completely worn through and the other 2 almost worn through. Car is 1. 3 years old and has only been driven 11,000 miles. Dealer will not replace tires and continental will only give a 50% rebate on the tires but will not reimburse for mounting and alignment. Car also pulls to the right consistently.

14 Suspension problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 10/15/2006

Premature tire wear on my o5 Dodge Magnum r/t. I have replaced the front tires at 10k miles due to them cupping and balding on the outside edges. I did this and had the front end checked out. Then at 35k miles I had to replace them again!I then took it to a front end shop and they aligned it and said the factory has a bad set of specs as it will wear out the tires in no time!this is not normal or right!.

15 Suspension problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

16 Suspension problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 08/07/2006

The front tires are cupping every 3,000 miles. Dealer has checked alignment, rotated the tires and replaced them for free 4 times with 2 different brands of tires. I now have 30,000 miles and the tires are worn out again and the dealer has told me that is just the way it is and to stop coming to them to resolve the issue. It has been quite rainy where I live and I feel that the tire damage is now putting me at risk. The ability of the tires to perform in rain soaked roads has diminished significantly because of the unusual wearing and I feel that it is unsafe to drive the vehicle in any inclement weather. I really hope this issue can be resolved before there is a fatality. Since the tires are so badly worn on the outer edges the vehicle vibrates at highway speeds and seems quite unstable. Any little bump in the highway causes the steering wheel to jerk violently. I am not sure if this is caused by the worn tires or an inherent design flaw in the front end. I know from researching the internet that there are many owners that are having the same problem.

17 Suspension problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

18 Suspension problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 12/13/2005

First off I do not feel safe in my Dodge Magnum, I have had it a week and I am not satisfied that this car is safe for me and my kids. I am experiencing the sharp pull to the right, I was told it was"supposed" to do this, if I would have been told this I wouldn't have bought it. I was assured this would be the best and safest car I wouldn't have problems with it according to the salesman. I am disappointed being I do not feel safe with this vehicle, this pulling is dangerous and is going to severely injure or kill someone. This problem needs to be addressed and fixed before tragedy strikes. Mta.

19 Suspension problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

The 05 Dodge Magnum I purchased came with continental tires from the factory. The tires currently have eighteen thousand miles and are near bald. 23 Suspension problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 12/04/2004

My 2005 Dodge Magnum has pulled to the right since day one. I have had it to the dealer 3 times and twice they told me that the Magnum is designed to pull to the right as a safety feature to keep you from going into the left lane in an emergency, ie passing out etc. I have that statement in writing on the second service order. Dodge will not take any action.

24 Suspension problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

26 Suspension problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 09/25/2004

Since the first time I drove my 2005 Dodge Magnum, it has pulled to the right. The dealer and manufacturer say that they all do that and it is an engineering problem and they can't figure it out nor can they fix it. The car comes up to specs on the alignment and everything is supposedly fine, but it continues to pull to the right.

27 Suspension problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 07/20/2004

My 2005 Magnum rt has had a right pull problem since it was purchased. I've taken the vehicle to 3 different dealers to have it fixed. Now it is a mild pull but I'm experiencing uneven tire wear. The dealerships have worked hard to correct the problem but daimler Chrysler is denying that it is a problem. There are hundreds of us that have this problem all through the Magnum internet forums and nobody has gotten Dodge to fix the issue. The vehicle is especially crown sensitive and will run off of the road if you dont keep both hands firmly on the wheel. My car still does not drive straight and the dealer says it is "in spec" and they act as if I'm stupid. The Dodge 1800 number people are useless and only try to send you back to the dealership.
