2 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 01/20/2014

Time: after a fuel refill earlier in the day (always ask gas station attendant to -not- top off the tank and usually provide an exact number of gallons to make sure the gauge will read just under full after the gas refill) event: car stalled while being driven at about 25mph this is a safety issue as the car will stall at just about anytime (on the highway, making a turn, driving along suburban roads). At this time the only solution I have been able to implement is to rev the engine significantly fast after the refuel and/or drive in 1st or 2nd gear (by downshifting via the transmission gear shifter) for at least 10minutes of driving time. It has now been 6 months since the last activity on the current NHTSA pe13-016 investigation (last activity referred to on the website was August of 2013). This is a safety issue and a recall is clearly needed to address this safety issue. Can someone at NHTSA please post an update on the investigation?.

3 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 12/14/2013

Stalled while traveling 65mph, then refired several times. Leaving from a stoplight the Magnum died in the middle of two intersecting highways, restarted, then died again. Issues started shortly after re-fueling with a full tank. Now, after a month, the stalling occurs as low as 1/4 of a tank of fuel. Will run fine for a couple days, then with no warning, stalling comes back and is currently on-going.

4 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 12/13/2013

After filling the car with gas and pulling onto the state highway the car motor stopped running. It started back up and got up to around 45 mph then the motor stopped running again. Again the car started back up and got up to around 25 mph and the motor stopped running. Then it started back up, bucked about 15-20 times and got me home. Next day the car ran fine. Five days later, filled the cars gas tank up again and pulled into heavy traffic and the motor stopped running, was almost hit by a dump truck. Again the car started back up got up to around 35 mph and the motor stopped running. This has now been happening after every refill. I don't top off the tank.

5 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 12/02/2013

Filled up fuel tank, started running rough right afterwards, stalling out when pulling up to stop light, cleared up after driving for awhile, only happens when I fill up, will not happen if I don't completely fill fuel tank.

6 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 11/08/2013

Engine stalls every time fuel tank is filled. Typically occurs at an idle immediately after fillup. Vehicle fuel system completely compromised leaving drivers stranded in traffic and has caused several near miss accidents due to stalling at low speed, or acceleration from a low speed. Has stalled while pulling out into traffic. Has stalled on freeway forcing unsafe situations. Fuel system now defective due to recurring incidents. Only resolution is to replace defective fuel, because the car is unsafe to drive.

7 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 10/30/2013

Vehicle stalled two times after filling gas tank. Difficult to restart--had to try 3-4 times to get the car to restart. Each stalling incident occurred as I came to a stop.

Just bought the car, filled up the fuel tank at gas station and went for a drive. At the first stop light I came to the car stalled while slowing down to stop coasted to a stop and restarted the engine after a few attempts, resumed driving and it was driving ok got onto the on-ramp to drive on the highway and it stalled again while merging into traffic same problem occurred several times until the fuel level went down after driving.

9 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 10/05/2013

I filled up the gas tank of my 2006 srt8 Dodge Magnum. I then pulled out of the gas station parking lot and the car died. The car died many more times the rest of this day. There were no warning lights on the dash. It acted as if there was vapor lock. It appears to be the same issue with gas getting into the evap canister, that so many other people are having with their lx Chrysler products of this year. After I burned off about four gallons of gas, this symptom stopped happening. This has happened a couple times this year when I filled the gas tank and the temperature is cooler. I do not top off. This is a hazardous situation.

10 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 09/15/2013

When vehicle fuel tank is filled with gasoline, car will stall and cut out and run very rough. Car has stalled several times when pulling out in traffic and is a safety concern for my wife and family when traveling in this car. Vehicle has started doing this every time the fuel tank is filled. Was told not to overfill tank and I do not overfill it. Have read that the only fix is replacing the fuel tank because of a faulty valve(?), which is a very expensive repair.

11 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 09/04/2013

Engine stalls every time fuel tank is filled. Typically occurs at an idle immediately after fillup. Leaves me stranded in traffic and has caused several near miss accidents due to stalling at low speed, or acceleration from a low speed. Has stalled while pulling out into traffic, causing people to swerve out of my way almost causing several collisions.

12 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 08/04/2013

Every time I fill up the car with gas it hesitates and stalls immediately after I pull away from the pump. If I do not fill up - it never happens. At the Dodge dealership - I have been told I need a new evaporation canister and fuel tank as recommended by Chrysler. I have done some research and the issue appears over multiple Dodge/ Chrysler models. Yet there seems there is no recall or service bulletin on this issue. Original owner.

13 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 06/12/2013

After fueling the car up it stalled out several times (in traffic) while driving. This has happened on two other occasions since then. Upon stopping and restarting, the vehicle engine surged and stalled again. It is my understanding this is due to a faulty check valve within the fuel tank.

14 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 06/01/2013

I filled the tank with gas, started to exit the station and the engine stalled. The out of fuel light came on even though it was full and it continued to stall and sputter. It has now happened three times since this first event and it is my understanding that this is a problem with this engine type.

15 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 05/10/2013

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Magnum. The contact was driving 25 mph when the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure recurred three times. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drive to the dealer for diagnosis, where it was advised that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 26,000.

16 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 12/07/2012

My car had been stalling after I would fill the fuel tank. First time was exiting gas station off the NJ turnpike and my 2005 Magnum stalled. I was almost rear ended by a tractor trailer. Another time I had just filled up and pulled out of station to make a turn for which the vehicle stalled once again. I took it to my mechanic who then in turned told me it was a bad fuel flow control valve, which is located in the gas tank. The price to replace the the gas tank would be between $1100-$1300 and is only way to resolve solution.

17 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 12/03/2012

Stalls after filling gas tank, 2 to 5 times, coming to a stop, just driving. Need to restart.

18 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 11/09/2012

After filling the gas tank, the car stalled at the next 3 intersections and ran rough once on moderate acceleration. No engine codes or warning lights appeared. Engine was able to be restarted nut only when depressing the accelerator pedal slightly. Would not re-start otherwise. Problem resolved itself after about 15 minutes of operation. Since then, issue has re-surfaced approximately 6 times with similar symptoms; occasionally with engine stalling while the car is slowing down but still moving. All time are associated with the first few minutes of operation after filling the gas tank.

19 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 10/04/2012

Whenever I fill my gas tank, the vehicle will stall within one or two blocks from gas pumps. It can happen at 20 miles an hour or less. It can happen entering a highway at 50 miles per hour. The car will start right up and will normally run fine after stalling. On one or two occasions it stalled twice after a fill up. Lately it happens after each fill up regardless of gas station or brand of gas.

20 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 07/25/2012

I have had at least 3 of the issues of the complaints I am seeing here and wondering why there has been no recalls issued: 1) car would not accelerate or it would die after filling up the gas tank. Went on line and found others having similar problem. Fix: do not fill your gas tank up all the way and also do not let it get too close to empty. 2) neither the back hatch or the hood will stay up on their own. Have been hit in the head with the back hatch numerous times - sometimes it works. 3) could not get car out of park. Again went on line and even found a youtube video explaning how to remove the pink thingy from the gear counsel and all will be ok. Saved hundreds of dollars but now no safety due to the fact that car can be turned off in all gears.

21 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 04/06/2012

2005 Dodge Magnum rt, 5. 7 hemi engine. Car stalls single or multiple times without warning, sometimes for several miles, after refueling. Stalling without warning occurs while car is moving or turning. Condition appears more pronounced at lower temperatures and when engine has not yet reached operating temperature. No codes set during episodes. Episodes unexpected, without warning, intermittent, and dangerous in traffic. Cause appears to be fuel tank control valve failure in fuel tank assembly leading to raw fuel contamination of purge canister. Liquid fuel appears to be entering evaporative emissions control system (on-board vapor recovery system) with fuel entering engine upon activation of purge solenoid, resulting in rich condition leading to stalling.

22 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 03/14/2012

Filled the car up at the gas station and drove about a mile down the highway to neighborhood. Pulled into neighborhood and car stalled. Restarted after a few minutes then died aft first corner. Car stumble a few more time before I reached my driveway. This has happened multiple times. I can no longer fill my car all the way up. If I fill tank more than 3/4 full car will stall and die.

23 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 07/06/2011

After filling the fuel tank I started the car and drove about 300 feet and the engine stalled. Stopped car and restarted it, drove another 600 feet to a red signal light and car stalled again. This happened five more times that day on the way home, ( about 25 miles ) by then it wasn't stalling anymore. It didn't happen again till I refilled the fuel tank and the stalling started all over again. This time I had to have it towed. After that I did some research on the computer and found other people had the same problem with this vehicle after they filled the fuel tank. Since then I only fill tank 3/4 full and have not had any stalling problems. Pain in the ass when I go on long trips !!.

24 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 02/17/2011

Failed fuel tank control valve has caused the gas to contaminate the vapor canister and purge valve. After every fill up when I pull out into traffic the car will die out in front of on coming cars.

25 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 10/26/2010

2005 Dodge Magnum r/t has developed a huge fuel leak behind the tank at the junction of the fuel filler tube; evidently the hot plastic seal around the filler tube is failing and is going to cost me $1100. 00 to fix. I have never had a fuel tank fail and am %&:?# ticked off. I feel that I should not have to pay for a new fuel tank after only 100,000 miles. I have a Buick with well over 532,000 miles with not a single fuel tank issue. To me this a factory defect that nobody has picked up on.

26 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 11/01/2009

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Magnum. The contact stated that he was unable to fuel the vehicle to its capacity or the vehicle would intermittently stall while driving. The dealer informed the contact that the vent valve failed and advised him to replace the fuel tank. The manufacturer was aware of the failure, but did not offer any assistance since there were no recalls associated with this failure. The failure mileage was 85,000 and the current mileage was 92,000. The VIN was unavailable.

27 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 02/25/2005

While driving 45 mph driver noticed fluid leaking from underneath the vehicle. Driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection. Mechanic determined that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. Driving on hwy at 60 mph, driver smelled gas. Pulled car off road , found fuel leaked from gas tank.
