I took my car to a local mechanic shop and they told me that my head gasket was leaking oil and I needed to take it to a Dodge dealership to get it repaired. When I called the dealership, they quoted me $700. 00. I then found out that there is a problem with these and when I called again they said the Plymouth is meeting customers halfway and they would pay for half. By reading all of these other complaints, there is a major defect with the head gaskets onthe Neons and I don't feel that I should have to pay anything. . This should be a recall. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Head gasket was leaking oil. A private mechanic has diagnosed problem, and stated that engine was going to be replaced. A cause for this defect has not been determined. Please provide any additional information/attachments.

The head gasket leaked oil, so had to be replaced. What I am angry about is Chrysler knew that the orginal part was faulty, hence they re-designed the placement part. However, they are making their customers pay for their mistake, which I think is wrong. I have recently seen where Ford is reimbursing their customers for the same problem (faulty head gasket). Why wouldn't Chrysler do the same thing to keep their customers happy?.

Vehicle was taken to a mechanic because of oil leakage. It was determined that the engine head gasket was leaking oil. The head gasket has been replaced. The original engine head gasket was replaced at 8, 000 miles. Chrysler confirmed that there was a problem with the head gasket. But it was not under recall. Ak. Et.

While driving at approximately 45mph a bubbling noise was heard. Engine had blown head gaskets. Had no prior warning of problems. Towed to dealership for repairs. Head gaskets were leaking again.

I had the head gasket oil leak repaired at an independent mechanic's shop (a certified mechanic) after the several dealers were booked solid. I couldn't wait to have the repair done two weeks later. Now, only a year after the repair was done, the same repair needs done again. From what several dealers have told me, many Neons develop this head gasket leak and need repair. My car was only two and 1/2 years old when the head gasket went. I don't understand why Chrysler has not recalled the cars to have it fixed. It has been very costly to me. I again have to have the repair done next Wednesday.

We have been told by several mechnics that the head gasket leaking on Dodge Neons is a common problem.

Owner noticed vehicle was leaking oil. When taken to dealership, found problem to be with the engine head gasket leaking oil. The problem has been reported to the dealership. The problem has not been corrected. Vehicle is not under warranty.

E98012; defective head gasket had a leak, causing the oil to leak, resulting in an underhood fire. Dealer replaced the head gasket. Dealer cannot determine the problem.

My vehicle was purchased in Feb. 1996. Within one year it had been recalled and serviced for several reasons. The first incident was the fuel pump module. The amount of gas on the reading revealed 1/4 of the tank still full, however the tank was actually empty. Also within that year I began noticing water in the back seat and in the spare wheel well, due to a leak in the rear window seal. Six months later the same vehicle began leaking oil and when serviced it was found to be a head gasket leak. The gasket and it's components were replaced under warranty. In addition to other recalls the vehicle has been serviced regularly. However, within the four years this car has been revealing symptoms that are unbelievable for such short amount of time. It has currently been diagnosed with another faulty head gasket. The vehicle is beyond the three year warranty and is expressing the same symptoms that it has had in the first year. I am searching for answers to remedy this problem or warranties that may apply.

My head gasket was leaking and has recently made my car start to overheat. My speedometer has also not been working since about 2 months after I bought the car and I have taken it in to be repaired approximately 5 times and it is still not working correctly.
