Vehicle Overheat problems of the 1997 Dodge Neon

Five problems related to vehicle overheat have been reported for the 1997 Dodge Neon. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Vehicle Overheat problem

Failure Date: 11/28/2008

Safety/emissions reprt states recall on my vehicle/ defect number: dr-1158. The solid state fan relay may fail because of heat rellated electrical over stress causing the fan to stop and the vehicle to over heat.

2 Vehicle Overheat problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2003

The vehicle overheated without warning.

3 Vehicle Overheat problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2000

Dash warning light came on, and then car overheated, consumer pulled over, and vehicle would not start again. Had to be towed.

4 Vehicle Overheat problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2000

While driving in city vehicle started overheating. Stopped for a little while to let the vehicle cooldown. Started up again and it worked fine. Then, it happened again two days later. Contacted dealer , vehicle was not under warranty. Took it to a local mechanic. He looked at it, and said that there was an engine head gasket problem.

5 Vehicle Overheat problem

The car has been over heating and cutting off for the past three years. The company has only put a patch on the problem. The car has been in the shop about 13 times for the problem. I feel that this car is a safty factor and is very dangerous.
