35 problems related to horn assembly have been reported for the 2007 Dodge Nitro. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I was sitting waiting add a red light going to make a left turn in my car shut off in the middle of the road now I had to take it to the shop and they saidit was the totally integrated power module on my 2007 Dodge Nitro and I see where there's been a recall under totally integrated power module wayback in 2007 and now my car is in the shop gettingmy totally integrated power module repair and it's doing all the things that other cars have experience such as engine stallingmy horn goes off in the middle of the night whenever it wants there's a fan it comes on and turns all my dash lights on and runs my battery downnow my car is in the shop being having a total integrated power module repair and iwant to know why do I have to pay for a recall that they already knew about.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Nitro. The contact stated that on several occasions, the horn activated independently of driver input. The contact also stated that the vehicle experienced several other unknown electrical failures. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 144,672.
I started my car then after 5 miutes my radio and lights turned off the my engine turned off. At 3am we heard someone honking outside and it went on for 20 minutes until a neighbor knocked to tell me it was my car honking but there was nobody in the car. I pressed my alarm key off and on but nothing would stop it finally I took the horn fuse out and disconnected the car battery. A person on the web told me he had a similair problem and it was a recall "electrical system" NHTSA vehicle safety recall. I typed in 2007 Dodge Nitro slt and that was one of the recalls on mine. So the car turned off while parked and car on and also at he lights and the horn goes off. A mechanic told me it sounds like the (tipm).
Horn honks whenever it wants. Abs, esp/bas, traction control, and check engine light come on. Abs esp/bas and traction control lights were intermittent but now are consistent. Engine code comes and goes and says it cant communicate with tipm. Occasionally when parking and pulling out of a parking spot it feels like there is no power steering/ runs rough while turning sharply but there is no leak in power steering and it is an intermittent problem.
While driving down the road all of a sudden I hear my horn start to honk. I few seconds later some of my warning lights started to light up and I decided to pull over to the side of the road and stop the car. After I did this I opened the hood and saw smoke coming out of the engine compartment on the drivers side. I assume this might be the integrated power module. After this happened I am unable to start the vehicle or place it in drive. It is totally undriveable.
There has been multiple complaints filed with the 2007 Dodge Nitro with various electrical errors. This vehicle is unpredictable and unsafe. Imagine driving down the road with your two toddlers and the vehicle stalls. Next your horn starts honking out of control, the automatic door locks begin to uncontrollably lock and unlock. You have to open doors at the perfect time to get out of your vehicle. That's not all! then your windows start to roll down by themselves. Oh and don't forget the crazy adventure you'll endure when you drive your vehicle at night and then your headlights turn off by themself! you never know what kind of day you're about to have when you get into this demon car. If you like to live life on the edge I have the perfect vehicle in mind for you! it sounds like multiple Nitros were effected by the same issue, but we would rather sweep the issue under the rug instead of actually accepting responsibility for these death traps. I am appalled that this vehicle hasn't been recalled. Maybe something will be done when enough people die related to the malfunctions.
Horn honks randomly. Sometimes blaring, when I press it doesn't work. It happens when I am driving and when the car is sitting. I found several people complaining about the same problem from Chrysler with the totally integrated power modules (tipms).
Alarm problem. Horn sounds at random times for no reason. It goes off in a erratic pattern and I had to remove the horn fuses to silence it. Because it goes off so much, it is draining my battery. I replaced the battery 7 months ago (November of 2018) but its now draining rapidly. I've been unable to start my vehicle twice in the last few days. It has not yet died while in motion. Also I have a lift gate ajar fault and had to turn off my interior auto lights so I can drive at night without them on. However the lights do flicker on and off constantly, even with the auto light feature off. When I use my turn signal to go right, my interior lights always come on until the blinker is off.
Everything falling apart on this car. Now the horn goes off when its off, on the freeway or just at a stop light, the other thing, when I fill up the gas tank the gas shoots back up.
Electrical problems, while driving on public streets, horn, windshield washer, door locks go on at their will, never know when they will go on and even with the key off they still continue to honk spray water and locks go up and down. Air conditioner/heat fan goes on and off at will.
Our problems started where the vehicle would lock or unlock itself at random times while parked armed and unoccupied. The lights headlights would come on and the alarm would sound. Then the horn started going off by itself for no reason again vehicle unoccupied, usually in the middle of the night, now when you drive it the horn has gone off a few times. The other day my wife was driving it and she was in the left turning lane and the engine stalled, she had to put it in park and restart it, very annoying and dangerous.
When I got my ride the horn was unhooked. So I reconnected it and now the horn honks itself and my auto up window switch isn't working.
Horn not working or going on by itself same problem on other Dodge Plymouth vehicles 2007 thru2010 problem is tipm relay and fuse box the cost to replaced the box about 500 Dodge knows about the problem I dont know way they dont recall this vehicles.
I just got a used 2007 Dodge Nitro in oct. 2016. I had it 2 months I notice that every so often I had trouble with the power door locks not working. Then at 3 months I go take my child to school, and all of a sudden my horn goes off, the windshield wipers start going off and spitting out fluid, everything in the vehicle starts going crazy and then I'm in the middle of a very sharp curve when the vehicle cuts off and will not start back. I was able to get pulled over safe but it could have been very differently because I was in a curve on a major road and school time right at the school. Had to have the vehicle towed and was told that the totally integrated power module (tipm) went out and would have to be replaced at $1000. Now I see so many other people with the same problem. It is not right that Chrysler never put out a recall on this or that nothing was ever done about it. I paid almost $2000 for an extended warranty but they will not replace the part either because they say it's just a fuse box. Please something needs to be done or someone is going to get killed if not already.
My car lost all power. It would not start or roll up the windows but at times it would blow the horn and windshield wipers would turn on but car would not start. This was after I drove it home and turned it off. Also the windshield wipers will stop working while driving it. I took it to the dealership who charged me $1200 to replace my tipm.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Dodge Nitro. The contact stated that the vehicle experiencing failure with the electrical system, the wipers will function independently, the vehicle horn and headlights illuminated. The contact mention that when the key in her hands the motor fan will stay on even though the vehicle is off and all dash lights illuminated. The radio also turn on independently. The contact stated that after the tipm and the power control model was change the failure continue to occurred. The contact stated that there are no turn signals. The vehicle was taken to the a dealer for recall wiper motor before. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired of an unknown recall for the windshield motor at an unknown Chrysler dealer. The contact also stated that the vehicle would failed to start when attempted to drive. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for a diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure multiple times and inquired the contact no recalls were associated with the VIN for the failure. The failure mileage was appropriately 100,000. Aw.
My truck honks randomly been dealing wih it for 1-2 years. . It honks when its off or when im driving its very scary as a female having to drive it like this. I had tipm replaced and still having issued I removed the fuse for horn but afte a year my battery started to die and I hear a sound coming from fuse box(tipm) not sure whats the problem but I have read many people have been having issues. . . Recall for safety,.
Battery dies overnight when car is idle. It starts with a jump start and is fine during the day. I found the problem is that the dash board lights are coming on at night draining the battery. I also hear ticking & weird noises from the fuel box under the hood. A/c does not work, horn does not work & I am washer fluid does not come out when trying to clean windows! hazard lights flash & the alarm goes off for no apparent reason. Took it to a dealer who said he received about 15 different codes when running diagnostics & that the dealer needs to flash the pcm.
Electrical involving the engine shutting down and the system going haywire and offline putting you at risk, alarm, horn, wipers, instrument cluster and engine running by itself. The vehicle will not start and will not crank over as part of the tipm making it unable to start. There is a recall for 2007 Dodge Nitro pertaining to this issue that many are unaware of, like me if you are not the original owner, not safe at all could leave you stranded as I was left stranded christmas day and now without transportation. I really hope they can resolve this issue at the dealer.
Whether driving, sitting still, or the vehicle not being used, the horn randomly beeps.
Horn starts blowing for no reason regardless of it running or parked. Hazard flashers activating for no reason. Antilock brake light flashing, limited slip lights flashing. Headlights flashing off and on.
For over the last year my car has been locking and unlocking on its own . My horn had been sounding off even while im driving without me utilizing the horn and even when im at home without the alarm on. I also have had repaet issue with the headlight and taillights because the wires keep burning out .
Since March 2014. The horn has gone off by itself (3), the truck has died while driving at a speed of 30 mph (1), truck has failed to start (1).
My 2007 Dodge Nitro wouldn't crank. So I took it to the Dodge dealership they told me that it was the gps, well I paid to get that fixed and it started doing the same thing. . So I took it to another shop whom told me it was the battery. . Ok I got that fixed and was still having the same problem. In the middle of driving, the horn continously goes off, so does the windshield wipers, the doors began locking and unlocking. So I took it to one final shop and that's when they told me its a problem with the total integrated power module. I asked could this be fixed and was told its been on back order. So now I have to drive around with my vehicle malfunctioning. .
Door locks have randomly stopped working. The key fob and interior buttons will unlock all doors and trunk but randomly will not lock. When using the key fob, the horn beeps and headlights flash but the doors do not actually lock. At times the doors still do not lock even after driving at 15mph, when they normally would lock automatically. When I took the vehicle to the dealership they charged me $100 to run a diagnostic test, which showed some type of tripped sensor (I think related to the abs braking system or transmission related) and an error related to the tipm. They reprogrammed the tipm and said if that did not fix the problem I would have to return to the dealership and pay $700 to replace the tipm. The problem with the locks seemed to be fixed, but only lasted about 30 days. Although I can manually lock the door, I have no way of locking the trunk area and the back doors are hard to manually lock unless you put the windows down. I think having an unlocked vehicle is unsafe, especially since I work 12 hour shifts that start when it's dark in the am and end when it's dark in the pm. I also had a problem with the brakes a couple times where it feels like I'm hydroplaning, sort of like there is a delay in the brakes grabbing, but the road was completely dry at the time. This also seemed to happen randomly 2 or 3 times, then stopped. Not sure if something done at the dealership in the past corrected this.
I started the car to move it in the driveway. After backing up, I put it in park. I then tried to place it in drive, and the shifter lock wouldn't release. (it normally releases when the brake pedal is depressed. ) after a few tries, I attempted to turn off and restart the car. When I turned the ignition to restart the car, all the electronics activated, the headlights were flashing, the horn was cycling, the wipers and sprayers were running, etc. I turned off the ignition and popped the hood release. When I got out and walked to the front of the vehicle, I noticed light coming from the hood gap. When I opened the hood, flames were surrounding all sides of the tipm unit, and the hood insulation liner was on fire. I disconnected the battery and was able to extinguish the fire.
Horn goes off on it own, even while driving. Starts won't start, battery is not dead. Doors lock and unlock on their own. Passenger door controls the drive setting for locking and unlocking car, shutting radio off. The drive door will lock and not let you out, even trying to pull it up manual and it won't let you. Have to use key in door to unlock and quickly open before it locks again. In an accident this could be a big problem.
I have had numerous issues with this vehicle that Dodge must think is not serious enough to fix. About 5 months ago while driving the car the horn kept going off. In an hours time the thing must've gone off at least 30 times! I took it in and the dealership gave me 5 possible causes as the computer scan didn't find any issues/code. Today it started going off again. I was in my house, so the car was not running. When I went outside thinking I could possibly unplug the horn, I noticed that the radio was on. No key in the ignition! over the last 5 months, the horn has gone off both while and while not driving it, the radio has come on when no one was in the car and no key in the ignition and the car has stalled while it was being driven down the road. This needs to be fixed! I am not the only one with these issues. When googling "2007 Dodge Nitro horn going off" there are multiple stories of this happening to people, which include all types of electric issues. Some resolved the issue when a new tipm was installed. Dodge/Chrysler needs to recall the vehicle for faulty tipm before people get seriously injured! thanks, colleen ericson.
My Nitro was broke into and the alarm did not alert me. Now the alarm goes off without warning and the doors locks and unlocks and horn chirps at any given time. The authorized dealer diagnosed the problem and stated that I had an after market sunroof and that was causing the issue. But reading everyone's post. That is not true!.
Driving north on interstate I-75 in heavy traffic due to an accident, my horn started sounding, my windshield wipers activated and windshield washer fluid started flooding the windshield. I pulled over and shut the vehicle off and restarted the vehicle normally. Approximately, two months later, I attempted to unlock my car remotely using my key and the horn started blaring, the windshield wipers activated and the windshield washer fluid sprayed continuously. I called Dodge Chrysler corporation to see if they could offer assistance. They told me which fuses to pull. I had to disconnect the battery to stop the horn, then pulled the fuses and reconnected the battery. I was able to replace the fuses and drive home. Dodge Chrysler told me to contact my dealer if it did it again. On September 14, 2013. I attempted to unlock my car using my remote key and everything happened again. I disconnected the battery and pulled the fuses but after reconnecting the battery and reinstalling the fuses, the problem persisted. I contacted Dodge Chrysler and they transferred me to my local dealer. I took the car in first thing Monday morning but the service department could not replicate the problem and no codes were stored. I picked up my vehicle that evening and within 3 miles of the dealership, my Nitro horn, wipers and washer fluid all activated. I immediately returned to the dealer and left my car. The service department was able to replicate the problem but Dodge Chrysler would offer no cost assistance to replace a faulty tipm (totally integrated power module). I was informed that I would have to pay for the $750 repair myself. There are numerous reports of this and other incidents involving the tipm for not only Dodge but Chrysler and Jeep products. Dodge Chrysler Jeep corporation needs to be held accountable.
Power door locks inoperable. First happened a week or so after purchasing used. Went out on a Friday night but worked again before I could get into shop on Monday. Worked fine for two months until yesterday when it happened again. Cannot lock or unlock via key fob or door button. Must unlock driver door with key and manually lift door knob on all other locks. Rear door locks are extremely difficult to reach to unlock from the front seat as the locks are towards the rear of the door. Hatch is completely un-accessible as there is no way to unlock it. Locks do not lock when you drive and reach the appropriate speed and do not unlock when the car is put back into park. When key fob is used the lights blink and the horn sounds but the lock/unlock functions do not work. Brief internet search has shown others with this a problem with both the Dodge Nitro and Jeep liberty. Currently in the shop being looked at as an electrical issue.
I purchased a 2007 Dodge Nitro for drivers select on rl thornton freeway in dallas. Unbeknownst to me Dodge had a recall for the tipm which to my knowledge has not been correctly fixed on the car I bought. I had Nitro serviced by huffines in plano TX only for Nitro to go out again. It is currently being serviced again and dealership wants to charge me around 500. 00 for a manufacturing issue that should be covered for free due to safety issue.
Alarm system malfunction. Alarm would activate and stop, activate and stop. According to neighbors, this happened on and off from Friday night 11/13/09 through Sunday 11/15/09. I was out of town at the time. Vehicle was sitting in driveway. This issue annoyed my neighbors big time. This problem has annoyed a neighbor so bad, that I feel threatened by him, and had to call to state police on him for parking across the street from my house and revving his truck engine, flashing his headlights and honking his horn while facing my house. I had to have the vehicle towed to the dealership where I purchase the Nitro. They could not find any problems with the alarm system, but I do not buy this at all. Something happened to caused the alarm system to malfunction over a 2 day period. I was told by the dealership, once an alarm is activated, it does not reset itself, and should not go off again until it is reset. I want to know what happened. The car had been vandalized, I. E. Cut wires, but I think this was done out of shear anger by someone annoyed by the alarm going off all the time, but I cannot prove this. But still, the alarm system should not have continued to activate itself.
Driving are parked the horn will sound and lights flash. Parked with engine off windshield wipers, and fluid will turn on, and radio will come on. Windows and locks don't work all the time. A new battery will last two days before it won't start. Check engine light stays on even after I had new heads put on. Airbag light stays on.
Car has stalled three times while driving and one time did not restart which resulted in it being towed. The horn and driver's side lock have broken. I advised the dealership of my safety concerns regarding the stalling and also low rpm's. Car is now at dealership for 6th time and they currently do not know the problem. Car has approx. 8000 miles. First stall happened around 1000 miles.
