Air Bag Problems of Dodge Nitro - part 1

Passengers front seat head rest deployed on its own. The air back feature of my head rest deployed and it broke in the process. It is available for inspection. It happened when I was cleaning my car. So thank goodness not when I am driving. I was actually cleaning my car to trade it in for a Dodge durango but after reading some articles that this is considered normal wear and tear also that Dodge won't cover the cost for the repair and don't consider this a recall. I am highly reconsidering staying with Dodge now. Specially the outcome of this. It hasn't been inspected yet. No warning signs.

Airbag symbol keeps jumping on and dinging and their is a malfunctioning of the airbag which showed after being but on a machine. The tire even when changed or applying air the light still jumps on like it’ has low air pressure. And the electrical the door lock n unlock is backwards lock will be unlock and unlock is locked. Only 3 doors will lock automatically.

One day the airbag light started cutting on and off and then the horn started blowing randomly without being touched or even without even being in the vehicle with the car turned off. Took it to a mechanic and they have no clue what’s wrong.

I purchased a 2011 Dodge Nitro SUV in March 2021 from a dealer with all recall information. I contacted online about recall and they set-up to take this vehicle to a Dodge dealer to have required recall work done. I will be notified by the recall company when a new part to be place in this vehicle. Now, when I enter this same vehicle VIN it states as 0 recalls. My airbag concern light on my dash remains on and sometimes alerts me by sound! nothing has been replaced for over 7 months and now it shows no recalls! I have both original invoice pages from this dealer still stapled together and scanned to email if needed! my vehicle would not pass inspection if needed, because of this issue and safety concerns. On 2/11/2021 me an my mom was head to doctor at 445am and it was just raining cold and we hit a patch of ice going 20 miles and hour and I lost control and we went rolling 3 times and air. Bags did not deploy and the seat belt restriors didnt restrict as we was rolling some time in process my head hit windshield and got knocked out it was on a hwy moving their was no one on the road but us. . It wount let me up load my pictures I have but will be glade to mail them to u waiting on police report he put wrong information about me on for so it needto be fixed.

Took my vehicle in for a recall. The recall was for replacing the emblem on the steering wheel. The emblem was removed but the replacement cover was not installed. Also the recall for the drive shaft was not done.

My airbag light doesn’t go off after the recall fix that was recently sent out. I took my car in for the recall fix and the airbag light is still on. Is my car even safe to drive now ?.

Airbag-dash light keeps coming on and shutting off. Went online and found several forums with several people that have the some issue. Issue started when going over a street hump.

The wiper relays went out recently and somehow caused the door locks to beep and go crazy then die completely. And a few weeks ago the brake came undone somehow and fell into the wheel well, ripping the inside of the rim open causing a blow out while my wife, 2 year old and I were on the freeway. And now after taking it to 2 different Dodge dealerships, the problems are not fixed, there is more warning lights on than I've ever seen. And so far both places have told me they fixed an emblem on the steering wheel, and that the other recalls aren't applicable because of being a 2007 and the recalls are for the 2008. Even though my Nitro is obviously having the same if not worse problems. All the way down to the emergency brake not working, we love our Nitro and Dodge as a company and would please like some kind of help with this situation. Our vehicle is our only source of transportation and it is not safe for us to be driving, especially in the winter conditions we just got hit with here. Here are some pictures of what happened with the brakes, thank the lord we were getting off the freeway when the brakes gave way, if we had been on the freeway 15 seconds more, the accident would have been fatal without question.

The light w/ the airbag and seat belt sign on dashboard are on for the last several months. It worries me because my teenage twin daughters drive this car. Secondly, we had work on the car done less than a year to fix shifting cables or something to that affect, to where dealership had to take the complete dash out and ever since the light has been on. Not to mention the rattling that goes with it. We do not feel safe driving this car because I am trying to prevent from something actually happening whether we are stationary or driving. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Then the vehicle was towed to contact's resident where the Chrysler engineer informed the contact that the vehicle was a total loss. The vehicle was then towed to ron carter Chrysler Jeep Dodge located at 3005 fm 528 rd alvin TX 77511 where the vehicle was diagnosed that the seat belts, air bags, drive shaft, air bag module and hole in floor needed to be repaired . The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. Ap.

Takata recall.

We were driving like every morning to our work and when we try to pass the intersection we have to stop on a yield sign to let the other traffic pass. When I try to hit the accelerate all the lateral air bags exploded without reason and the1st thing we thought was that someone hit us. I try to move the car and the car wasn't running at all also I cannot stop it so I have to turn in off. We go out of the car to see if we got hit but the car didn't have anything so we try to see under the car and all the drive shaft was cracked in half! the sheriffs come to the scene and they can't believe that the car was in that condition if we didn't have a wreck or anything! they say that everything looks like a safety recall, we did a research online and was right my car has a safety recall since 2013 and they never send me a letter or call me to let me know about it! I drove that car everyday to work,to pick up my kids from school etc. . Etc. . And I can't believe what happened I could die if my car wasn't stop! I was very lucky that I was on a yield sign when everything happen. Now my car insurance didn't want to pay anything because they found out about the recall and told me that the agency has to pay for everything because that was a manufacturer problem! but the Dodge don't want to pay or fix anything they also have the nerve to told me that my car didn't had a safety recall at all even when the mopar page say that my car did had a recall! now I'm without car and dealing with the expenses of towing my car etc. . Etc. .

Tipm issues. Causing horn to go off while stationary and driving. Causing car to not start while stationary. And causing issues with the lights, wipers and more.

For several days it turns on the dash light airbag and intermittently the alert sounds indicating the problem with the airbag, when the car is in motion, across the street or in the road.

Throttle sticking. Have to pull over and restart. Will not restart all the time. Dash door icon indicates rear door is open when it is not. Safety issues may not have a place to pull car over when throttle is sticking. From 2006-2012 Dodge was had these electrical and engine problems plus others. From day one why no recalls on these problems.

Was in a wreck on hwy 73 two vehicle hit me from behind and airbags never opened but everyone else bag work I t my head on steering wheel.
