3 different times I have had to replace the battery in my Nitro due to the stereo. The radio is not powering down properly and keeping the communication bus awake causing parasitic battery draw. I have a mygig head unit with navigation and sirius satellite dvd player. At time the the Nitro will lock me in or out due to the stereo not powering off properly due to this issue you also can not get satellite service to work. Dodge needs to recall this issue as we did not ask for the issue. Also when filling up with fuel it does not stop on it is own like other cars and trucks, it spits fuel back out at you and spills everywhere on you the car and ground. The battery problem happens when it is turned off with no key in the ignition.

The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Nitro 4x4. The contact stated that while driving her vehicle at approximately 40 mph , the vehicles windows, lights, and radio would sporadically turn off, or on. The contact stated that while driving her vehicle the vehicle had shut off completely, however she was able to coast off the road safely. The contact stated that she then got out the vehicle to look under the hood to tap tipm box, which allowed her to restart the vehicle. The contact stated that she has contacted the dealer for an appointment. The contact stated that she contacted the manufacturer who advised there were no recalls on the failure she was experiencing. I was driving in town, just pulled forward from a stop light. My wipers started running, my entire instrument cluster started flashing. That included, check engine, oil pressure, low voltage, abs, eps, lost all speedometer reading, rpm reading, fuel level, engine temperature. On the odometer screen it displayed no bus. Now it does it while running, moving, stationary, and not running with the key turned in the on position.

My airbag light came on a week ago and wont go off. Very nerve wracking. If I fill gas tank gas comes back out of tank all over me and truck. Key fob stopped working setting off engine immobilizer costing me $207 for a new key because the one that came with truck could not be just reprogrammed. I love my truck, but it is becoming one thing after the other and as a single disabled mom of an 8 year old, I cant afford this money pit. Especially with what my loan costs me every month. I seriously thing Chrysler should take some responsibility for problems in their vehicles especially since I see a lot of people have complained about the same issues. I can say I will never buy another Chrysler product again. We little people pay more than enough for these vehicles, to just have to turn around and invest thousands more. I would not complain if it was just mine, but when you look and see all the other people that have complained about the same issues, then its time to complain because it is obviously not just mine and not just because its an older vehicle which I had thought til I saw the other complaints!!!!!!!!!!.

The door locks for the rear doors do not work. The engine heater core also stopped providing heat to the car. Even after cleaning it out.

2008 Dodge Nitro with 80,000 miles driving in town and all the dash warning lights came on blinking and the engine almost stalled. It continued while driving it. Took it to mechanic next day but lights were not on. 3 pages of "lost communication" codes printed. Mechanic said it was most likely the main computer but the lights were not on so they couldn't fix. The next day lights all came back on driving on highway car almost stalled and it wouldn't shift. We drove it straight to mechanic. It would not restart. Thankfully it was parked at this time. Mechanic said it's the main computer module and will cost $1500-$2500 to fix. If it died while we were driving it would have been tragic! it has under 100,000 miles this should not have happened already. We did not take pictures of all the warning lights that would be the only evidence we have. We can upload a bill once we get it.

Tl the contact owns a 2007 Dodge Nitro. While driving approximately 40 mph, the brake, check engine, oil pressure, and traction control warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle did not stall. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was determined that the check engine indicator was due to a throttle body failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that a diagnostic test needed to be performed; however, the contact declined. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 183,990.

My check engine light is on becuase of the rollover sensor issue.

The car jerks back an shits off randomly in the road an the emergency brake doesn't work it almost caused me to get in an accident.

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Dodge Nitro and stated that each time the vehicle key fob or key was use to lock the doors, it would unlock the doors independently and it also would make the headlights illuminate. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for a diagnostic testing or repaired. The manufacture was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage approximately was 171,000. Aw.

While driving at night, with my headlights on, my dash began to flicker and so did my interior lights. My engine also started to studded as I was accelerating. Finally I went to roll my rear passenger window down for my son and the door started smoking and caught fire! I pulled over on a city street to let the fire die down.

Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Dodge Nitro. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle the wind shield wipers would erroneously activate. During the failure the turn signals were inoperable. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer freedom Dodge(815 east camp wisdom rd. Duncanville TX) and manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000. Jft.

Driving my 2007 Dodge Nitro on a secondary road twice and also on the highway doing 75 I had a loss of power, put my pedal to the floor and nothing. This was a recall back in 2007 but of course my VIN# was not included and it expired. How can you determine which vehicle and when it will be affected when you send out a recall? I bought the vehicle second hand and do not know what the previous owner did or did not have done. I drive my elderly mother and grandchildren in this vehicle and now I do not feel safe. When I called I was told "too bad" so now it costs me 1200. 00 for a safety recall that should be honored on all of Chrysler vehicles. Hopefully someone in the Chrysler family will not have a bad outcome in one of their faulty vehicles.

The contact mentioned that the front driver's door was the only door able to unlock. The doors were able to unlock by rolling down the windows and opening the doors from outside the vehicle. The contact stated that the rear hatch door also failed to open. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 132,000.

3 weeks after having my 2011 Dodge Nitro detenator would stick between gears, at both slow and high speeds and I was burnning through gas way too fast. Nissian found my tansmittion oil to be black, I paid for flush and told it was good to go. Next day the car died, the throttle body indicator came on, this was fixed, still burning through gas! couple weeks later now it sounds like a disel engine idle, I can not afford all these problems. I found several owners of this car have had same problems along with electrical as I have had as well, my electrical system cuts out randomly and a few times my kids and I have smelt what seemed to be that of burnt rubber or something. Im very displeased and upset with my purchase.

Drivers side rear door won’t lock or unlock with remote or by buttons in the car. It has to be done by hand.

Tipm flashing , wipers do not work, abs light on- speed will not go over 40 and takes a while to reach speed. Acts as if the vehicle is running out of gas, brakes not working properly.

Multiple attempts to start, while driving at the highway or at a light it slow down as if going to shuts off, rear windows not working, doors power locks intermittent.

As I was driving to work, the alarm began going off, the wiper blades both front and back turned on, the doors were locking & unlocking themselves as I was driving & my vehichle stalled in the middle of the morning rush hour. Thankfully, I was able to once again start it long enough to pull off to a safer area. I propped the hood open after doing some quick research on youtube as to what it could be causing the alarm wiper blades to turn on. I tapped the tipm (or fuse box) a bit just like in the video iooked up and sure enough the alarm shut off & my car started once again. I've looked at several forums online between Dodge Nitro users & they all seem to be having the same issue pointing to the tipm. In the forums the owners of these vehicles are stating there's thousands of Dodge/Chrysler vehichles with this same issue. Yet, there has been no recall. Not only does the tipm replacement cost approximately $1,000. But it is extremely dangerous to drive these vehicles that are stalling in the middle of traffic, during rush hour & with children in the car. Please take a look into this issue, don't ignore the thousands of people that are having this issue with Dodge/Chrysler vehicles & do a recall. Once, again I feel that it is very dangerous for a car to stall & behave in that manner while in motion. Not only for the driver but for other drivers around these cars with defective tipms.

Wiper fluid shoots out the windshield wipers turn on the alarm goes off and car shuts off does all this at once.

Electric problem causes the vehicle to loose all engine power while driving down the road.

The contact stated that the remote start key was not working, the vehicle alarm kept sounding, and the doors would not lock or unlock occasionally even with the key. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 150,000.

The wiper relays went out recently and somehow caused the door locks to beep and go crazy then die completely. And a few weeks ago the brake came undone somehow and fell into the wheel well, ripping the inside of the rim open causing a blow out while my wife, 2 year old and I were on the freeway. And now after taking it to 2 different Dodge dealerships, the problems are not fixed, there is more warning lights on than I've ever seen. And so far both places have told me they fixed an emblem on the steering wheel, and that the other recalls aren't applicable because of being a 2007 and the recalls are for the 2008. Even though my Nitro is obviously having the same if not worse problems. All the way down to the emergency brake not working, we love our Nitro and Dodge as a company and would please like some kind of help with this situation. Our vehicle is our only source of transportation and it is not safe for us to be driving, especially in the winter conditions we just got hit with here. Here are some pictures of what happened with the brakes, thank the lord we were getting off the freeway when the brakes gave way, if we had been on the freeway 15 seconds more, the accident would have been fatal without question.

Was driving up mechanicsville turnpike in richmond,va. Heading home when vehicle cut off without any warning then had to try and start it back up after 3ctries , been complaining and getting brakes repaired since 2016 have been complaining about rear double clicking since 2016.

The breaks on my 2008 Dodge Nitro keep locking up completely while I'm driving down the hwy. Which causes my truck to come to a abruptly forcefule stop. Especially when I'm traveling at speeds of 65 or more. I can get the brakes to release by unhooking my battery for about 10 minutes. Long enough for the system to reset. My brake pads are slightly worn . My abs light is also on / on my dash.

While driving to work on Monday morning at 60mph the truck shut down lost all power and can't be restarted almost crashed . . Have replaced all the major suspect to find out along with 1000s of others the anti theif device or the wcm is the problem and we as consumers should not have to cover the cost or head aches of getting this resolved. There are more than enough complaints to issue a recall so people can get there trucks bck on the road. .

Car had not been driven regularly due to it throwing codes preventing it from being safety inspected. Driven briefly around 12:00 noon on Thursday, October 11th, 2018 to see what codes it would throw. On Friday, October 12th, 2018 car was moved out of garage & parked in driveway where it sat until Sunday, October 14th, 2018 when it spontaneously combusted and local fire department had to be called to extinguish fire. Vehicle is a total loss.

Takata recall the radio cigarette port and wiper motor stopped working.

Tl the contact owns a 2008 Dodge Nitro. Within months of purchasing the vehicle, it stalled several times without warning. An independent mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure, but stated that the totally integrated power module may need to be replaced. The contact planned to take the vehicle to milford Chrysler (500 us-209, milford, PA 18337, 1-(570) 296-2636) for further diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA action number: dp14004 (electrical system). The manufacturer issued two tsbs on the electrical system, but no recalls. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

The driver side break light and reverse light has had to be replaced too frequently. Now the gear shift - diag code u0103 seems to cause the loss of communication of the gear position. That only allows the vehicle to only travel about 20mph and approx 3000 rpm , which can be very dangerous if there is a unexpected slow down on the highway.

I was driving my 2008 Dodge Nitro and felt a jerk then air bag tried to deploy and vehicle lost power while driving down the road. It did this twice and air bag on drivers side is trying to deploy with light and dinging every time driven. The gas cap will not seal causing check engine light to stay on and there has been contant electric issues. Head lights and tail lights have to now be constantly replaced and air bag light is always coming on with dinging noise. I believe I'm having issues with the drive train and several other issues that are all recalls in this year of Dodge Nitro.

In addition, the power windows would not roll down and the headlights malfunctioned. The dealer stated that the part was no longer manufactured. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 210,000. Ad.

Locks quit working the fob will only unlock the drivers side door. All other doors have to be done manually and I can't open the back hatch because there is no place to put in a key and unlock it.
