When getting fuel, the vapors in the tank will not allow the tank to fill up without having to have the gas nozzle upside down. When the tank is full, the nozzle does not stop and gas spews from the tank. After driving away once the tank is full the car starts to buck and shake.

When putting fuel into the tank at a gas station pump, the fuel doesn't stop when the tank is full and spills out all over the car. Doesn't matter how fast or slow I am putting fuel into the tank. Dodge, you have known about this since 2008. Why have you not issued a recall?.

When I fill up the gas tank after the pump shuts off, the vehicle shoots gasoline back out at me, about a half gallon its gets on the car and onto the ground, this happens every time I fill up. This is extremely dangerous!!!.

My airbag light came on a week ago and wont go off. Very nerve wracking. If I fill gas tank gas comes back out of tank all over me and truck. Key fob stopped working setting off engine immobilizer costing me $207 for a new key because the one that came with truck could not be just reprogrammed. I love my truck, but it is becoming one thing after the other and as a single disabled mom of an 8 year old, I cant afford this money pit. Especially with what my loan costs me every month. I seriously thing Chrysler should take some responsibility for problems in their vehicles especially since I see a lot of people have complained about the same issues. I can say I will never buy another Chrysler product again. We little people pay more than enough for these vehicles, to just have to turn around and invest thousands more. I would not complain if it was just mine, but when you look and see all the other people that have complained about the same issues, then its time to complain because it is obviously not just mine and not just because its an older vehicle which I had thought til I saw the other complaints!!!!!!!!!!.

When adding fuel the gasoline always spits back out when tank is full spilling gasoline over the truck tire and ground. There was a recall on this a little after I purchased the Nitro new, but mack massey Dodge in el paso, TX said nothing wrong with my vehicle. So why am I still having the same problem throughout all these years?.

Fuel tank overflows every time that we fill the tank. When the gas is filled, the nozzle is fully inserted in the tank and will not automatically shut-off spilling gas everywhere until I manually stop the nozzle.

When I fill the fuel tank the fuel spills out on me, on the car and the ground, this happens every time I try and fill the gas tank. I was on Dodge forum and told this happens to all 2007 and 2008 Dodge Nitros and this is a safety issue. I was told this is a vent valve/check valve default and this valve is supposed to shut down the gas to prevent an explosion in an accident. Dodge had a recall for their Jeep but never issued a recall for the Nitro!! Dodge should be responsible for replacing the fuel tank with no cost to me.

As you fill up vehicle with gas make a clicking sound when full and spill out of tank getting gas on car. This can cause a fire and is hazardous to the environment. This issue has been going on since I purchased this vehicle back in 2007.

I just bought my 2008 Dodge Nitro. Every time I fill it with gas and top the tank off, the pump clicks off and a second later, about a half gallon of gas spews out of the vehicles gas tank, down the side of my vehicle and onto the ground. This is a major safety hazard not only for Nitro owners but for the public around us as it could possibly lead to an explosion in the event of an accident. I've read many complaints online from other Nitro owners with the same issue. A few have taken their vehicle into the shop and was told that there's a factory defect inside the tank which is causing the issue. They replaced the tank and the problem was fixed. Please. . . We need to get these vehicles recalled and fixed as soon as possible!!!.

I just bought this vehicle. Every time I fill the gas tank, the gas pump will click off when full and as soon as it shuts off, about a half gallon of gas will burp out of my gas tank and cover the side of my Nitro and the ground. I've read a lot of reviews of a lot of other people having the same issue. They have taken it to the dealer and there is a defect in the fuel tank and the tank needs to be replaced. This is a major safety hazard!!! what if I were in a roll over accident? the fuel would poor out and one little spark, I'd be blown to shreds!!! or someone could hit me in the tank area and once again, an explosion!!! since buying the vehicle, I have read complaints from so many other people with the same issue. Please recall these Dodge Nitros for the owners safety and the safety of everyone around us!!! please!!! it's a factory defect which should be covered by Dodge for the consumer's safety. I should not have to pay $500 out of pocket for a mistake that Dodge made. Please help get these vehicles recalled for the fuel tank because it is definitely a major safety hazard!!!.

Everything falling apart on this car. Now the horn goes off when its off, on the freeway or just at a stop light, the other thing, when I fill up the gas tank the gas shoots back up.

Every time that I fill up, the gas comes out of the tank. I was told that this is a know issues and it is a part inside the gas tank and the entire tank would need to be replaced. I have researched online and it look the piece in question of the malfunction stops the gas from igniting in a roll over. How is this not been recalled?.

I received a letter from Chrysler customer assistant center which stated the fuel tank inlet check valve in cars like mine were defective and they would repair it at no cost to me. I seduced an appointment with my local Dodge/Chrysler shop. They found that my car was originally owned and registered in canada. I contacted the company who sent me the letter. The person I talked to said they have no record of the letter that was sent to me. He asked if I could fax him the letter, which I did. He said there should be no problem after that. He later left a message on my phone after he received the letter and said their company was not going to pay for my repairs because my car was originally purchased in canada. I called canada and updated the information they had on my car. I bought the car about 4 years ago at my local Dodge dealer and I'm financing the car. If I received a letter stating they were going to pay for the repair of the problem with the check valve they need to honor that.

2010 Dodge Nitro spills fuel out of fuel intake every time you attempt to fill up the tank. This causes about 1/2 gallon of fuel to spray all over the vehicle and the operator.

Every time I fill the tank the pump at the gas station shuts off but I have fuel that burps back out. From what I understand about these cars is that there is a fuel shutoff valve on the gas tank to prevent fires/explosions in the event of a rollover accident that is defective. My vehicle is out of warranty and this causes me concern for my and others saftey. I would like Chrysler to fix this problem as I don't believe I should have to pay for this out of pocket as they know that this is a common problem with these cars.

2011 Dodge Nitro gasoline fill spout and fuel tank is affected part. Every time I fill up the vehicle with gasoline it spews out of the gas tank all over me and the side of the SUV. I've contacted Dodge and they say there is no recall. I contacted the dealer I bought it from and they claimed to have fixed the issue and yet it persists. This is dangerous and hazardous to my health. There needs to be a recall fixing this issue.

I just purchased a 2007 Dodge Nitro with 57334 kms. On my first refueling I was almost soaked in gasoline because of what I determined later as a factory faulty rollover valve in the gas tank. The hose clicks off as the tank is full but then the gasoline goshes out all over the vehicle & ground. The anount is considerable. This is a very dangerous fire issue. On my 2nd refueling was the same thing & each additional fill. Hasn't there been any recalls or forceable fix to get the manufacture to correct this issue?.

At full tank the pump shutoff fails every time and fuel spills from filler when pumping at any pump at any rate causing fuel to run down the side of the vehicle and puddle on the ground. I have seen more complaints of this than most other problems. This is a dangerous and common manufacturing defect that should be dealt with by a recall.

Vehicle has a new transmissio now. Fuel backfires out the tank everytime I go to fill up the tank. Then,my insurance gave me a recall list to have it taken in. Took it to the Dodge dealership numerous of times and same problem occurs and they say in they're database its not showing anything on my VIN number. Air bag light goes on and off allday. Car beats and airbag light blinks on and off and is very annoying. A/c compressor is now out and working on getting it replaced but other than that everything is going perfect.

When refueling this vehicle for the first time the gas pump did not shut off when the tank was full, resulting in gas overflowing onto the side of the vehicle and spilling on the ground. This same kind of malfunction continues to occur every time it is refueled unless the person refueling it manually stops the pump before the tank is completely full. Sometimes the pump shuts off as gas begins to overflow, and other times the pump does not shut off at all. This condition is very hazardous, harmful to the vehicle's paint, and wasteful.

I just bought my Nitro but every time I fill up the gas tank it will click off at the nozzle but then I get gas spewing back out! it has happened to me twice now at two different pumps at two different gas stations. It scared me very much and is a huge safety hazard! my Nitro is no longer under warranty but I know I am not alone with having this issue. The only fix I know of is replacing the gas tank at my expense. I feel as this is a well known and prevalent issue Dodge should address it ASAP!.

Gas tank overflows everytime I allow the pump nozzle auto stop. I have tried different gas stations with different pumps to see if it made a difference. Made no difference, it overflows every time. The pump does kick off and stop, but the gas comes pouring out about a second later. Not only is this a personal hazard as gas is extremely flammable, it is an environmental hazard when the gas pours on the ground.

Updated 3/14/13 the mechanic at the dealer informed the consumer it was the same problem Jeep had with the roll over valve in the gas tank being defective and it needed to be replaced.

Problem with the gas overflowing when attempting to fill the tank - most likely caused by a valve in the gas tank that is there to prevent an explosion in the event of a rollover accident. The valve is defective, and thus the gas spills out, and could possibly explode in a rollover accident. I have read that this is a manufacturing defect, and that Chrysler knows about it. I am possibly driving a dangerous vehicle. This is about more than gasoline spilling at the gas station !!!!.

Purchased 2008 Dodge Nitro sxt used with 61,500 miles on it. Gas tank fill tube overflows every time you fuel up vehicle. It does not matter how fast or slow you add fuel it overflows every time. Contacted my mechanic and he stated to contact dealer as it is a safety issue. Called dealership and they checked for plugged vent and said if not that must be tank itself. Tons of complaints and Dodge seems to sweep it under the rug,very dissappointed. Called the 1-800-992-1997 for Dodge and filed a complaint. Meanwhile still dealing with tank overflowing with every fill. . . . . . . . . . .
