Failure Date: 09/23/2009

I have a 2007 Dodge Nitro that I purchased in 2007. Within a few months of owning I took it too the dealer to have the below recall item fixed. I have had problems recently (3 to be exact) when driving down the road at 50-60mph the engine will shut off and all the lights on the instrument panel will come on. Once the engine stalls I am unable to steer or brake. I have notice on the web that there are several other 2007 Dodge Nitro owners experiencing the same issue. Please let me know what action I can take in this matter with Chrysler Dodge. I have yet another service appt set with my dealer. 2 Software problem of the 2007 Dodge Nitro

Failure Date: 12/03/2007

2007 Dodge Nitro with serious electrical problems. Consumer states that the vehicle is having problems with the transmission and has stalled due to electrical problems. They want a full refund for the vehicle. The consumer stated while driving, the vehicle lost voltage. The instruments dropped down unreasonably once the warning lights illuminated. The headlights started dying out. The gear shift had to be wiggled to get it to move, there was a knocking noise while going from first to second gear. The dealer informed the consumer an internal short had occurred with the 12 volt battery. The consumer also stated the steering would drift, there was abnormal traction and the doors would lock up. The abs was not working correctly because the vehicle would drift while driving. The consumer stated the dealerships were using 2006 Jeep liberty software to troubleshoot the problems with his vehicle. The manufacturer did not send the specific software to update his vehicle. The manufacturer agreed to a settlement rather than continuing the arbitration process. Updated 05/20/08.

3 Software problem of the 2007 Dodge Nitro

Failure Date: 02/20/2007

My complaint is in regard to the new Dodge Nitro. On three separate occasions while driving , twice at speeds of approximately 70 mph and once while going approximately 30 mph, I lost power for a few seconds. No steering, no brakes, no control. Luckily, within 2-3 seconds it literally turned itself back on. When I complained of this to my dealer's maintenance shop , arrigo Dodge on okeechobee in west palm beach, they dismissed it as some type of glitch, and didn't see how they could simulate a 5 hour road-trip. Which was the situation when this first happened, and it would be up to me to leave the car there for as long as necessary, find my own replacement transportation and pay to have them inspect the new vehicle. "this I found not only to be horrible customer service, but a potentially huge liability to the daimler /Chrysler corporation. Just this week I received a safety recall notice in the mail stating that this same thing has been happening in several Nitro models, and that I need to bring the car in as soon as possible. Personally, I didn't want a brand new car that was already posing some potentially deadly defects, and wished to file this formal complaint not only against daimler/Chrysler, but also for arrigo Dodge. Thank you.
