Differential Unit problems of the 1996 Dodge RAM

Three problems related to differential unit have been reported for the 1996 Dodge RAM. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2002

While driving, could hear noise coming from rear of vehicle wich sounded like suspension was out of place. Had taken vehicle to dealer, and they had to replace rear pinion bearing on differential. Please provide more informatinon.

2 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 10/09/1999

While traveling at approximately 55 mph, a nut fell off from center of rearend that holds yolk, this caused driveshaft to fall out of vehicle, and rear end to lock up.

3 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 07/19/1998

Whinning noise while traveling, noise increases as speed increases.
