Wheel Bolts problems of the 1996 Dodge RAM

Five problems related to wheel bolts have been reported for the 1996 Dodge RAM. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Wheel Bolts problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2000

While driving the left front wheel fell off of the vehicle, resulting in damage to vehicle. (ohio traffic crash report).

2 Wheel Bolts problem

Failure Date: 10/20/1999

When the tires have to be rotated & the lugs: nuts need to be removed. They would break off. Contacted dealer & was informed the lugs: nuts were torqued too tight. Not using a 4 way wrench to torque lugs: nuts.

3 Wheel Bolts problem

Failure Date: 10/19/1997

Lugs:nuts broke in half, causing the wheel to fall off the vehicle.

4 Wheel Bolts problem

Failure Date: 05/25/1996

Wheel lug bolts broke, on the left front tire while driving.

5 Wheel Bolts problem

The front left side bolt that holds the wheel, keeping it from falling off, disconnected. This happened for the third time . Please describe .
