One problem related to gas recirculation valve (egr valve) has been reported for the 1997 Dodge RAM. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The weld that holds the egr crossover tube came apart causing a melt down in the wires. The weld was replaced by the dealer in December of 1998, and then was replaced again. The mileage on the truck was 31,424 miles.
