Engine problems of the 1998 Dodge RAM

Four problems related to engine have been reported for the 1998 Dodge RAM. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Engine problem

Failure Date: 04/29/2002

Engine blew a rod, causing engine to rattle.

2 Engine problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2002

Oil changes were done every 3000-5000 miles. The third and fourth piston rods were worn down and then broke. ******dims 11 ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis*****7757169.

3 Engine problem

Failure Date: 05/21/1998

Truck vibrates between 30-67 mph. Dealer has changed the torque converter, drivershaft, replaced ring and pinion, yoke, bearings and seals. Truck has burned 1/2 qt of oil per 1000 miles since new.

4 Engine problem

Consumer states while driving at highway speed the engine will shut down causing lost of power steering. Please provide any additional information. Ph.
