11 problems related to brake disc have been reported for the 1999 Dodge RAM. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I have had 3 failures of my front brakes. The first time was within a week of purchasing the truck. The second brake failure was 6 months later at approx. 18,000 miles and the third failure was at approx. 34,000 miles on oct. 1st 2000. I have taken the vehicle back to Dodge and they have reported nothing wrong with the brakes. An independent mechanic looked at the brakes and said there appears to be something wrong with the calipers. The truck pulls violently to the left when the brakes are applied and I've also had the front brakes lock up.
Premature wear of brake pads. Pads have been replaced every 10000 miles. Consumer states front brakes locked up, causing a collision with another vehicle.
Heard noise in front brake system. Dealer turned rotors and installed new brake pads on front brake system.
Front brakes would pull vehicle to left when applied. Have taken to dealership, and mechanic replaced calipers and pads 3 times. Consumer states vehicle also pulls to the right.
Pulled and shook replace brakes. Pulled and shook replaced brakes again, shook replaced brake again. Now starting to shake agian. 16000 miles total.
Brakes started to fail at 8000 miles. At 18000 miles the brakes were repaired by the dealer. Tech found rear drums out of round. Front rotors were turned. The problem prior to repair was bad vibrations when applying brakes. Truck now has 37000 miles and the problem is begining again. Started to notice vibrations at about 25000 miles. Will dealer or mfg. Cover this problem at this point?.
Brakes pull to right at any speed. Requires significant correction by operator, increasing with speed.
Excessive brake pads and rotor wear. Vehicle always pulls to the left.
This is the second time I have had to replace my front brakes, the first time was approimately. 4 months before this time. While changing these brakes I discovered that the right side had worn a substantial amount more than the left, the left one didnt need replacing.
Problem: whole truck shakes or pulsates front to back while braking. Dealer replaced front rotors and pads in April. Problem still existed. Dealer replaced rear drums in September. Problem still exists and getting worse. Dealership does not know how to fix problem and waiting for reply from Chrysler's tech support. Dealtership won't attempt to fix until then.
Consumer stated while traveling at any speed and when depressing the brakes, the front end of the vehicle vibrated. Vehicle had been repaired six times, technician could not duplicate problem. The steering wheel also vibrated.
