The multi function switch was defective in my vehicle. This caused the following safety concerns with the vehicle: 1) the windshield wipers did not work, 2) the turn signals did not work, and 3) the hazzard lights did not work. I have two problems with the situation: 1) while driving the vehicle during a rain storm on 9/26/2011, the windshield wipers did not work. This caused a safety concern and could have caused a potential accident and 2) while driving the vehicle, the turn signals did not work. This caused a safety concern and could have caused an accident. After taking the vehicle to the local Dodge dealership, I was informed that the multi function switch was on back order. To be exact, four thousand multi function switches were on back order per the local dealership and Chrysler group customer assistance. Neither the local dealership or the Chrysler group customer assistance had any idea when the part would be available. I asked both parties why the part is on back order since this is a matter of safety. No answer was given. After further research via the internet, it was determine that other Dodge Ram truck owners had the same type issue with their multi function switch being defective. It would be great if Dodge would notify all owners of the problem with the multi function switch and have them reviewed and/or replaced if needed. This could potentially save someone from serious injury or death from the the multi function switch being defective while driving. My hope and prayer is to have other Dodge Ram truck owners understand the importance of this problem. It could potentially save their life.
While traveling on the highway I-90 one of my pro comp all terrain tires 33/12. 5/r17 lost all the tread, oit peiled off like a retread (they are not re traeds) they had about 50% tred life left on the tires and I had just checked the tire pressure as I was hauling a horse trailer. As the tread came off the tire it made a couple rotaitions and completely distroyed the side of my truck bed. I was able to maitain control of the vehicle and pull to the side of the road. The tire still had air in it just no tread. The tread completely seperated from the tire. I have read a number of posts on the internet with others having the same issue.
Cracked dash.
Trying to signal a turn left and the right turn signal comes. Also when its raining outside my wipers only run at intermittent speed and if I signal right or left while wipers are running the wipers will stop until signal has been turned off. This is very dangerous when raining out are when driving in traffic and trying to change lanes and I can not change cause the signal says im going right and im really trying to go left. Please consider this a safety issue I can not belie it hasn't been already.
I noticed a very small crack on the passenger side dash, by the door, last summer and didn't think much of it. Now it is completely cracked, front to back, to the middle of the passenger seat.
The dashboard in my 2003 has alot of cracks and now pieces are falling into the vents. This is a safety hazzard to have pieces of the dashboard breaking off,it's just a matter of time before the entire dashboard caves in.
Crack in dash panel started about Aug 2009, it has now became a full blow mess as large pieces have fallen into the wiring harness inside the dash. This could be a hazard if you roll down the window and some smaller pieces fly up into your face, or could set on wires and catch fire. I know of at least two other 1500's that are 98 and 2000 models doing the same thing as mine.
1) electrical problems. Lights kept going in and out 2) dash cracking and crumbling. Pieces falling into air vents and preventing windshield from defrosting! dangerous! could cause an accident. Dash is in such bad shape that if passenger air bag were to be deployed it could kill someone due to flying pieces of hard plastic all over the vehicle. Make Dodge recall this product! what are you waiting for? you already have thousands of complaints for this problem!.
The dash was fine no events until sept. 2008. Opened the truck up one day to reveal a huge crack in the dash. The dash is cracking in the rate of 2 cracks in 2008 and one in 2009 ,one in 2010. We are up to 4 cracks now. Hasn't been fixed. I am hearing horror stories of this causing serious problems. I do not let my kids ride in it. The more it cracks the less safe we feel driving it.

To whom it may concern, we recently purchased a Dodge quad-cab pickup from east tulsa Dodge in tulsa, oklahoma. We purchased it at night, the next day we noticed blemishes/flaws in the paint. We brought it to the dealership's attention they admitted that it is in fact a factory defective paint job. The daimler Chrysler district rep. Looked at the vehicle and he too admitted that it is a factory defective paint job but he only belittled me and insinuated that I was only being picky. His words were those blemishes aren't going to do anything as if to say why can't you just live it?? if you can do anything at all to help us we would be so grateful! thank you so much for any help, clifford b. My 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 truck has severe paint delamination that began in 2001 and continues to get worse every year. I am in the process of going through small claims court because Chrysler refuses to help me. They say that my vehicle is out of warranty. I understand that Chrysler had paint problems with a defect at that time. Can you please send me some info on this? a manufacturers paint job should last more than five years. Please help.
I purchased brand new, a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 quad cab truck. The trucks dash has so many cracks in it, that they now have ran into each other and large areas have fallen out. This is a manufacturing defect that Dodge refuses to do anything about. These cracks have been in my dash for years. It is not heat related because I purchased the truck in washington state and was there for several years before coming to California. This is an electrical hazard and a flying object hazard, should I hit someone or they hit me and pieces start flying from the dashboard. This is a nation wide problem with the dashes from Dodge, it's time they do something about it. These cracks have gotten worse and worse over the years.

Ram 2500, our 12 year old son was riding in the back seat of this extended cab pickup truck and was securely fastened into the 3-point seatbelt behind the driver's seat. When we hit a large pothole, his head snapped back and hit the glass rear window. There is no head restraint or head protection of any kind for the rear seat passenger. He suffered a mild contusion. If this was a more severe episode, or an accident, the injuries would have been severe. We need to have head restraint protection made available to us for rear seat passengers immediately. This is a very dangerous situation that we were unaware of when we purchased this vehicle. Our dealer tells us there is nothing available through Chrysler to fix this problem.
Sent email from same e-mail address.
