Front Suspension Control Arm problems of the 2001 Dodge Ram 1500

Three problems related to front suspension control arm have been reported for the 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Front Suspension Control Arm problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2018

The fabricated attachment points that hold the control arms, track bar, damper and springs to the front axle rust to the point of being unsafe. I have replaced my front axle once, and will have to do so again shortly. Fortunately this problem was detected before the axle fell out of the truck, and that is what would have happened! the manufacturer simply did not protect these critical parts from corrosion.

2 Front Suspension Control Arm problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2004

While getting an oil change and tire rotation the technician noticed rubbing on the inside front tires. Upon further investigation he noticed where the tires are rubbing against the lower a-arm. Needed to replace tires.

3 Front Suspension Control Arm problem

Vehicle failed annual inspection as a result of lower and upper ball joints being bad. Contacted dealer. This was a common problem.
