Dashbord crack.
Severely cracked dash board. Parts falling down into the electrical wiring including airbag area. Continues to crack in different areas. Major portions of the dash is caving in. Could cause gauge, lighting, airbag and heating/cooling problems.
Have had a cracked dashboard for quite some time now, I have filed a complaint before and could not get a resolution from Chrysler/Dodge. My dashboard has cracked to pieces causing a safety hazard. Finally my electrical systems have started to malfunction due to the pieces of my fallen dashboard falling on electrical components, there was a small short/fire that caused my cruise control to stop working and my dash lights also. I feel it has been long enough and something needs to be done before, someone not as lucky as me, gets really hurt from this safety hazard issue that has haunted us Dodge ram owners for a long time. We need to get our dashboard replaced ASAP.

2002 Dodge Ram 1500. Dashboard has cracked and is continuing to not only crack but to disintegrate. It has large holes in it where the plastic has fallen off leaving very sharp irregular sections. Some pieces have fallen off, and some have fallen in,. . . Into the ducts and cavities under the dashboard covering. I believe it is a danger to driver and especially to passenger of the vehicle in the event of an accident, crash or even a sudden stop. It affects the working of the front window defroster as some of the pieces have fallen into the ductwork. I have searched the internet and this is a widespread problem in all parts of the country. Replacement of the dashboard is over $1000. I think that Dodge should held be responsible for the shoddy materials used in the making of this dashboard.
Dash cracked, cut finger on it and the cracks are getting worse. Pieces could fly up and hit me in the face while driving.
2002 Dodge Ram 1500, dash cracking. This truck stays covered up in the driveway most of the time. 81k miles on the truck. I beleive this to be a manufacture defect.
I have 2002 Dodge ram the dash has been cracking, it has fallen apart and is getting into electrical wiring and as well as falling into parts of my a/c. The pieces of the dash have fallen into the a/c fan causing my a/c to not work properly.
My dashboard is cracking and falling apart in on itself I have tried blowing but it continues to crack apart and it is falling in on the dash afraid if its ever in an accident classic will fly everywhere and cut or kill someone. It started doing this in two thousand and ten after I moved to florida. And the paint on the vehicle hood quarter panels front and upper doors and around the lower doors is fading away.
The contact owns a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 . The contact stated while entering his vehicle he noticed cracks on the dashboard. The manufacturer had not been contacted about the failure. The contact has found other complaints about this failure on the NHTSA website. Updated evoq 03/22/11.
Main dash began cracking in multiple places. Forward dash panel has now cracked and split into many separate pieces creating loose, sharp, plastic materials which pose a safety hazard in the event of a crash. Some of the pieces have cracked away and have fallen behind the instrument panel and some have fallen into the duct work as well. Having occurred on many Dodge rams, this creates a wide-spread safety issue and not just an isolated incident. I strongly feel that a recall should be issued on the affected years and the faulty dash panels should be replaced by the manufacturer to prevent any unnecessary injuries or safety concerns.
For two years my dashboard has been crack in my 2002 Dodge ram pick up truck. Within the last two weeks the dash board is falling apart. I went online to see how much does a dash board cost and I find out about thousands of Dodge ram owners with the same problem which ended up in electrical problems. I will like to know what can be done about it. I hate to keep driving the truck and end up in an accident. This is really a safety hazard to say the least and nothing has been done about it.
2002 Dodge Ram 1500 dash is cracking. Has potential to come dislodged in the cab and produce a flying object in the event of a crash, or to cause an accident if the dash falls apart while driving.
Dashboard cracked.
I have a 2002 Dodge ram with cracks all over the dash. Recently a car pulled out if front of me and I had to slam on brakes. My young niece was riding in the passenger seat and extended her arms out in front of her. The seat belt worked but her hands and wrist were cut by sharp edges in the dash plastic. One cut was pretty deep and required 12 stitches. The crash exposed other sharp edges and some fell into the vents. They rattle when I go over bumps in the road. Dodge needs to recall and fix this problem. I have a 74 silverado with original dash.
Dashboard is cracking in several places and falling apart. I took the dash cover off to glue it back together and seen that the dash body is also cracking, after gluing the top dashboard back together, less than a month later cracks appeared next to the cracks that I glued together. It is only a matter of time before the dash body collapses.
Dashboard has two very large cracks all the way thru it from the front by the windshield all the way to the back of it, and a third crack is now starting to form. I've owned this truck since it was new and have taken good care of it and believe that Dodge installed an inferior product in their 2002 Dodge ram pickup trucks.
The dash in my 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 began cracking in January 2010. It is now September and the rear trim section has four cracks which have allowed the center grill to fall inside the dash. The front or main dash has a crack perpendicular to the windshield over the glove box area. The center of the dash is cracked from the rear edge to the front leading edge and appears to be getting wider. What once appeared as a hairline crack now has widened and appears as though it is becoming very unstable. This type of dash while attractive should never have been used. The edges of these cracks are a very hard plastic and feel sharp. God forbid coming in contact with this material in a wreck. A padded type dash should have been used. Did not do enough research before buying this vehicle. A recall by the manufacturer should be ordered.
Dashboard cracking apart. Making me wonder about how safe vehicle will be in a crash. Am I going to have projectile, possibly sharp, pieces of plastic flying about inside the vehicle? will air bags operate properly? will air bags blow back into the dash instead of out to protect occupants?.
My 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 has a cracked dash. There were no adverse conditions or abnormal events prior to the dash falling apart. After researching this issue, I have come to the conclusion that hundreds if not thousands of Dodge owners are experiencing the same problem. I opened a case directly through the Chrysler group llc. To correct the issue and they refused to help me. I find it hard to believe that a plastic dash that is cracking so badly that there are sharp exposed edges around the airbag is not a safety concern. I would like the NHTSA to follow up with Chrysler about this issue and see what needs to be done to ensure that no one is injured by shrapnel from a defective dash.
Severely cracked dashboard.
Dashboard started cracking in 2010 and has progressively gotten worse. It now has open holes and completely cracked. And since the last few months it is causing electrical failure and dangerous to drive. This situation I have now found out to be very common for my truck and now realize that this is not common wear for this or any other vehicle. Chrysler has told me they are not excepting any responsibility for the product failure and that it's up to me to pay for the costly repairs. This is unacceptable as this problem is clearly a product defect that they are aware of and should at no cost to the consumer be fixed.
I have a 2002 Dodge 1500 and the dash board is cracking and falling where the defrost blows and last winter I turned it on and a sharp piece of the dash cut my face. I ain't sayin it was bad but if it would had hit me in the eye and made me wreck and die then my family would own Dodge. Yall say its not dangerous and I would agree if that wouldn't had happened to me but it did and its extremely dangerous and I think yall should recall them and make Dodge replace them and start making them better. I had a 98 GMC and it had no problem so they need to make them like GMC does and stop making everything so cheap before they kill everyone.
Cracked dash board on a Dodge Ram 1500 im concerned that if I were to get into any type of accident no matter the speed and the air bag deploys that the pieces of the dash will also fly off causing injury to my passengers.
I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 truck my dashboard is cracking and falling apart. It wont be long before the dash falls into the truck.

I wanted to know what could be done about the dashes that are in Dodge rams? you can browse the web, and I'm not the only one, but all the dashes in Dodge rams from 00' up to 02' are cracking, and Dodge refuses to do anything about it. . . Here recently, they released a recall for steering wheel columns, but still not even the slightest budge as to a dash recall. It is happening in Dodge rams all across the u. S. Proving that it is not just the southern heat that is causing this, but rather a defect in the material. The dashes crack without the slightest sign of sun damages, spots, or fading. . . Please investigate this. . . The dash also covers major wires that are the key for the vehicle, and if they melt or get wet, it could cause major malfunctions of the vehicle and could cause serious injuries.
My 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 dash board has been cracking and steadily getting worse over the past year. I took it to my local dealership and they told me they would only pay $500. 00 towards a $1200. 00 repair.
