Engine Exhaust System problems of the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500

Four problems related to engine exhaust system have been reported for the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Engine Exhaust System problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2016

On 9/9/2016 my wife entered our garage to get something and found the garage filled with exhaust fumes due to my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 engine running. Obviously, it was parked without anyone in it. However, no one had the keys in their hands and there was no key in the ignition. It randomly started on it's own. I filed a complaint before about it randomly locking and unlocking doors, and it randomly having all lights go out while driving. This one, a random start when parked in a garage could turn fatal. This is a dangerous issue.

2 Engine Exhaust System problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2011

2004 Dodge ram 4. 7l I was driving my vehicle from school, when without warning the engine stalled! was able to start it up and get it home! my mechanic has just informed me tht the computer went out causing a gas buildup in which one of my valves was bent. The truck has 98000miles and as ive read online its very common for this to happen! its very dangerous because when it stalls u have no control! not to mention very frustrating and expensive.

3 Engine Exhaust System problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2007

2004 Dodge Ram 1500 5. 7 liter. Last year I took it to the dealer after it stall several times they could not duplicate problem nor did it give them any error code. My truck currently has a noise that sounds like an exhaust leak will take to dealer.

4 Engine Exhaust System problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2005

I own a 2004 Dodge ram with the 5. 7 hemi engine. The engine in my truck has stalled on numerous occasions when slowing down and going into a turn. Once on the freeway at 65 mph! this happens most when turning on city streets or pulling into a parking lot. The dealer has flashed the pcm 3 times and it still has the problem. The last time it was in for this problem the dealer screwed with the timing, fuel air mixture and idle all in poor attempt to keep it from stalling. The results are poorer fuel mileage, occasional black smoke from exhaust, stalls at idle, the engine stumbles and soot build-up in the exhaust pipes. Oh, it stills stalls while turning sometimes. The dealer and the regional Dodge rep are both dragging their feet. The truck is unsafe to drive. It has 20" tires and wheels(factory)which make it even harder to steer when the engine dies and you also lose the power brakes too. Real waker upper.
