Six problems related to defogger have been reported for the 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving in a snow storm at speeds of approximately 5 mph, the defrost system suddenly became inoperable. The vehicle was moved off the roadway and left at the site because the defrost system would not clear the windows. The vehicle was not inspected by a dealer or an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was contacted and a report was filed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were approximately 87,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Ventilation no longer will change from top vent to lower vent.
Driving at approximately 35 mph one of the defroster vents broke and fell into the ductwork. Later that day noticed the dash had cracked. As this problem has just started on my truck I have seen from other Dodge rams where this will progress and the dash will fall in, damaging wires and circuits. This is a potential fire hazard as well as possibly causing systems such as headlights, etc. To stop working when needed most. Dodge informed me that if they looked at the dash, and I decided not to pay to fix the dash, they would charge me $85 for their time. That is not acceptable on so many levels. Dodge should be forced to do something about this.
The blend door on the 2005 Dodge ram goes bad easily. When this happens the ac/ and heater re-circulation is damaged. This causes visibility issues. This is a very common issue. I'm surprised this has not been recalled yet or even looked into.
I just bought a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 the air control box door broke so the air only blows out the vents no defrost it gets hard 2 see when it rains and is humid.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving approximately 30 mph she turned on the air conditioner and noticed that there was a minimal amount of air coming out of the vents. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where she was informed that a flap within the air vents was blocking the air flow. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure continued to occur. The failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 100,000.
