18 problems related to wiper have been reported for the 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Abs sensor comes on over 55mph. Exterior lighting keeps blowing bulbs and sometimes the tail lights completely shut off, sometimes brake lights inoperable. Windshield wipers work when they want to or only at the highest frequency. All occurs while vechicle is being driven in city street conditions other than on highway when I have to go above 55mph.
The contact owned a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that the damper door, which housed the vehicle's heater cord and defroster control, detached and caused the defrost to no longer function. The contact's visibility was impaired. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the damper door failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
Turn signals work sporadically. This is a daily issue. Signal left and the right signal comes on. Signal right and maybe the left turn signal comes on, or maybe not at all. Sometimes turn signals randomly switch back and forth between left and right on their own. Many times turn signals don't work at all. Once the wipers did not work. Hazard lights sometimes do not work. I have had the multi-function switch replaced twice under warranty and twice again since. Still have the issue. I believe this is a safety concern as the turn signals are telegraphing the wrong information to other drivers. Also possibly related the oil pressure gauge in my instrument panel will not work 3-4 times a year. Next time I start the truck it works fine. All this happens when the vehicle is in motion, and when stationary, forwards, backwards, straight, or turning.
Intermittent wipers do not work or work erratically when raining.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving various speeds, the windshield wipers only operated on high and low speeds, and failed to operate on intermittent speed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 70,000.
Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while in park, the contact noticed that there was power steering fluid leaking underneath the front of the vehicle. In addition, the contact stated that the wipers were activated but failed to function. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was also taken to a dealer multiple times who diagnosed that the wiper motor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14v796000 (power train) however, the part needed to repair the vehicle was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000. Oo.
The wiper delays don't work and shut off on their own. They will turn on when the switch is turned off. They will sometimes work on the delay and other times go full speed only. I live in bellevue washington where it rains frequently so I rely on my wipers to work properly so I don't get into an accident. I have tried to replace the relay switch (no luck). I have read may posts in forums for Dodge Ram 1500 owners and there are thousands of owners with the same issue but no fixes have been found. Many owners have brought their trucks to the dealership to repair with no luck. This is a safety issue and it needs to be investigated. It is obviously not a simple fix and Dodge should be looking into a solution for all the owners of Dodge Ram 1500 trucks.
The blend door on the 2005 Dodge ram goes bad easily. When this happens the ac/ and heater re-circulation is damaged. This causes visibility issues. This is a very common issue. I'm surprised this has not been recalled yet or even looked into.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 4 mph, the windshield wipers malfunctioned. The contact also stated that the windshield wiper motor was no longer working. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 09e009000 (visibility:windshield wiper/washer). The failure mileage was 101,000.
The wipers randomly turn on and off or can't maintain lower speeds.
The turn signal/wiper/lights assembly appears to have failed. When attempting to make a right turn signal, nothing happens. When making a left turn signal, the right signal happens instead. Now, everything has failed. No brights, no turn signals, no wipers. Researching on the internet, especially on the Dodge truck forums, it seems to e quite a common problem. In fact that is where I got the link to this form to fill out.
Intermittent windshield wiper function, also intermittent blinker and lighting function.
My windshield wipers do not work properly - I only turn them on in the rain, in western washington state. I turn wipers on, and have to pull ove because they will not work, and I cannot see. This happens daily because of the amount of rain.
2005 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab. The blinkers don't operate properly, they blink on both sides whenever they want and now the wiper blades work inconsistently. This has been going on since September, 2010, approximately 4 months. Need to replace the blinker handle on steering column.
Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6) I was driving my 2005 Dodge 1500 truck in rain, wipers just stop working, then after a few minutes would start working again. It did not cause accident ,but could have if raining harder. Now I don't want my spouse driving the truck with my little girl. The dealer says no recall on 2005,but there is a wiper recall on 2009. The dealer also said they have seen the problem many, many times, and have parts in stock to repair, but I will have to pay for repair. I've contacted Chrysler and have a complaint [xxx] , all they told me was to have it repaired and keep invoice in case a recall is issued so I can be reimbursed. This is not acceptable to me. Seems like someone has to die to get something done. Thank you.
I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. The windshield wipers work incorrectly. They may work fine or they may stop half way and quit, or not even work at all! I had the same issue with my old 1997 chevy s-10 truck, and it was fixed under a recall. My Dodge has the exact same issue.
I can not see out of my windows on my pick up the tint from the manufacture is horrible for visibility.
The windshield wipers randomly stop while in intermittent mode. I have been able to restart the wipers by selecting a non-intermittent position on the control wand. This has happened more that 50 times over the last nine years and each time it was mentioned to the dealer, they said that they have to see it happen before they can find a fix. The original dealer (timberline Dodge, portland, or - out of business due to recession) tried to see it happen and the latest servicing dealer (ron tonkin Dodge - gladstone, or) said they did not know of a problem or fix. Most recently, about a week ago, it happened while driving on interstate 5 while driving at 65 mph in light rain. Once you switch to non-intermittent mode, you can reselect intermittent mode and they work until the next failure. The only common denominator is the failure occurs when it is raining.
