Two problems related to front suspension lower ball joint have been reported for the 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
After I purchase this vehicle during my personal inspection of the suspension I noticed that the rubber boot on both lower ball joints were completely deteriorated. If this is not repaired the ball joints would fail creating an accident and possible personal injury.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 quadcab lwb. While driving 50 mph, one of the ball joints fell from the vehicle. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The vehicle was then pulled by another vehicle to a repair shop and eventually taken to the dealer. The dealer stated that all of the ball joints were dry rotted and needed to be replaced, however, the repair parts were unavailable. The contact is currently waiting for the parts to arrive. The current mileage was 66,427 and failure mileage was 48,000.
