general problems of the 2005 Dodge Ram 1500

I was driving about 45-50 mph and pushed on my breaks. When I pushed on my breaks, I had no power steering and was unable to accelerate. No warning lights. I pulled over and restarted the vehicle and it was fine. Was just purchased used and driving home from dealer.

When wet or in heavy rain, the battery will shut off and the truck will lose power steering. The truck speedometer will still work and the engine will run, but the battery voltage gauge drops to 0 and the radio and power steering turn off, dangerously, leaving you to have to steer without power steering for the truck.

In March 2015 I received a letter stating that my truck had a recall involving the rear axle. As soon as I received this notice, I stopped driving my truck. In addition, while searching my VIN # on your site, I found that my truck had another recall. This recall involves the air bags. My truck is my family's only means of transportation. Since I don't have another vehicle, I have been forced to borrow my parents and siblings vehicles. I even have been forced to take the bus. I feel that these recalls should have been resolved already. Is there anything that can be done to help me with this situation? While driving vibration in the front proceeded to lose control lose control with out knowing I was off the road into a guard rail through a small building from the highway department storage I proceeded to go through the building and into to park cars after being told they were told it was a complete wreck I was brought to the hospital in exeter new hampshire please run the scenes no airbags failed to inflate and vibration and I could not stop nor steers vehicle I had no frenchy's and I use my vehicle for business and had to close my account as of right now I've been denied right rental fee nor rentals at all and that vehicle is now at foss motors in exeter new hampshire I've had it towed three times and have a total of four calls to Chrysler about this matter and have yet been informed about any compensation or what I'm gonna do about my vehicle.

While driving down the road the truck just stalls for no reason. I lose all control. I almost hit a car. I went over the curb into someone's yard. I have seen hundreds of complaints from Dodge owners with the same exact problem. There is something wrong with that model. The rpm's jump and the truck just dies. Steering almost completely locks up when not accelerating. Left wheel does not move as much as right wheel as if it is separate.

Driving down interstate towing lightweight enclosed trailer. Saw smoke and oil coming from the rear end. Rear differential locked up, causing all 4 wheels to lock up. Drive line came completely detached and flew across highway. Transfer case cracked in half. Truck and trailer skidded to a stop on side of highway, after crossing additional lanes of traffic. No injuries and missed guard rail by a few feet.

When I slow down it just stalls out on me . Its always restart.

I just replaced the driver side wheel bearing, two years ago it was the passenger side. I have spoken to three other ram owners who have had the same experience.

Engine stalled without warning while traveling at slow speeds causing loss of brakes and steering control. This has happened numerous times while both traveling straight and turning. It has been a very dangerous issue to deal with.

My 05 Ram 1500 has now stalled out twice in the 2 months I have had it. The first time I was stuck in rush hour traffic so I was at a stand still but now this time I was turning into a school and the truck stalled and steering wheel locked. . . I almost hit 2 teachers because of this. . . The lights and radio was still on though. . This is a major problem that needs attention before someone gets seriously hurt. .

While backing out my driveway I went to turn the wheel and there was a shudder ,I went to put the brakes on ,no brakes then the engine died. Making me hit a parked vehicle . This happens on and off and should be addressed ,before there is an injury or death . Come on Dodge fix this!!!!!.

The front brake will lock up on one side causing the rotor , caliper hub and wheel to become so hot it starts smoking . After it cools of it will release the locked up caliper and become drivable again. This will be fine for a while and then the other side will do the same thing. . This has to be very dangerous overheating all the front end components to these very high temperatures . There have been others with this problem on a forum ( vtcoa. Com ) I am a member of . There needs to be a Dodge recall on all the effected overheating parts before it causes a major accident if it hasn't already. The other problem is the power steering hoses keep leaking or blowing out . This is another real hazard to safety . Have you ever tried to steer a 3 ton truck with no power assist , not easy by any means . These two things are an accident waiting to happen and should be corrected by Dodge before someone gets killed.

2005 Dodge ram developed severe front end wobble at all speeds known as death wobble. Truck was purchased as certified pre-owned and bought extended warranty but they will not fix it. They told me shocks were bad and I replaced them at my own cost and it still continues to get worse every mile more.

Vehicle steering shudders/shakes when making slow turns as well when maneuvering forward/reverse when parking unit. Feel the shudder on drvr. Side primarily. Steering wheel & vehicle itself shudder. Does this continually when driving every time vehicle is used. Does it when you turn from a complete stop.

While driving with the air conditioning on when I slowed down to stop behind a stopped vehicle my 05 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab with a v8 stalled out. I had to put the truck into neutral to start it back up & continue going. This has happened so many times while slowing down or stopping that I no longer can keep count. It has also happened when making a turn which caused all loss of power steering & power brakes. So far I have not wrecked when this happens but it scares me or my teenage driver to death. I have reported it several times over several years & nothing is being done. I also know this happens with the 2004 model of Dodge trucks as my nephew own one that I have drove & it happened the only difference in trucks is his 04 has the hemi. And this only happens when the air conditioning is on. I guess someone is going to have to wreck & die before Dodge recalls & fixes the problem. But until then I will keep reporting here & to Dodge.

Since I first bought this truck in 2005 its had a pretty serious problem with stalling out when coming to a stop, and even worse, sometimes mid turn while moving. This is a very dangerous issue since loss of control is eminent in this type of incident. Along with this stalling out, the truck has a rough idle/surging idle issue when at a stop. Ive tried all types of repairs, and spent alot of money trying to fix this issue with no avail. I took it into Dodge after I first bought the truck and they said they could not recreate the problem and everything was fine. I took it in again and they cleaned the throttle body. Still same issue. Now ive replaced, out of my own pocket, the egr valve, throttle body itself, evap purge valve, and have tried a list of other remedies. Still not fixed. After a quick search of many different Dodge ram club online forums this is a very very very common issue with these trucks, and all of us owners are fed up. Dodge wont take responsibility for this serious issue, and unfortunately people may die because of this. Please help us!.
