I took my truck in for an oil change and to have the air bag light that was coming on intermittly. After the diagnoises was done I was informed that the clock spring was broken. I asked what this spring contrroled and was informed of a varity of things including the air bag system. I asked if the air bags would deploy if I was to get into an accident and was told no they wouldn't. So I had it repaired at a cost of almost $400. 00. After talking to other people I found out that this was a common problem with a varity of vehicles. I thinking that there should be a look into these clock springs. It sounds like this is a common item that fails.

The first time he was informed that the air bag failed and new parts would be ordered to replace the entire unit; however, the parts never arrived to make the replacement.
