Check Engine Light On problems of the 2014 Dodge Ram 1500

Three problems related to check engine light on have been reported for the 2014 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2014

Check engine light came on. That was 9/24/14. The check engine light has been through a myriad of "fixes". It is now 02/03/15 (5 1/2 months) - the check engine light is still on and the dealership has it in for "repair". The warranty requires that the vehicle not be driven when the check engine light is on, thus denying us of the regular use of the vehicle, which is critical in our cattle operation. The full nature of the complaint may be obtained by faxing or emailing a request to us.

2 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2014

While driving at a speed of appproximately 25 to 30 mph, the engine stalled. This happened three times in the same day. It continues to happen at random up until the present usually when coasting or turning. The check engine light came on at 2,307 miles and codes p0171 and p0174 were found and both oxygen sensors were replaced. Three days after repair truck continues to stall. Has been in for service five times and no other repairs made because they say they can't duplicate the problem and the check engine light has not come on again. Invoice shows that there is a stored code, p0884, but since it is not active they will not be authorized or paid to repair the truck. The description of this stored code is exactly what I have been complaining that the truck does, stalls when turning or coasting at a speed of 20-30 mph. I guess money is more important than customer safety.

3 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2014

Vehicle is a 4x4 Ram 1500 express with 5. 7 hemi and 8-speed transmission. I purchased it new. The first incident occurred at around 200 miles on the odometer, on the third day after I purchased the vehicle. It stalled when approaching a stop sign near my home. It did not restart and run well immediately thereafter, but after 3 tries I was able to keep it running and after that it began to run smoothly for the remaining short distance to my home. I was worried that it may be a loose gas cap, so I removed the cap and re-installed it. Then less than a week later, the vehicle stalled again on 2 separate occasions during the same outing. First time was in a parking lot, and the second time was in a busy intersection. In each case, I was able to re-fire after a few attempts. The vehicle did the same thing again twice yesterday. Today the vehicle stalled again near my home. Every stall has been when slowing to stop or to make a turn. I do not feel comfortable with my family riding in a vehicle that stalls unexpectedly. It is an accident waiting to happen. I have contacted the dealer and have an appointment for a diagnostic test on this Friday. The check engine light is not illuminated, and the dealer has already indicated during a phone conversation that it will be difficult to do much if there are no obd codes to read. I have contacted other dealers to inquire if other customers may be having a similar situation. None have heard of this issue in this model year.
