2 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 06/28/2014

Last Saturday on June 28 2014 I was leaving my residence when I observed a small leak dripping out of my rear differential where the pinion gear goes into the differential. I ordered a pinion seal at my local auto parts store. On my way to the parts store I noticed a very faint whine coming from the rear end. About 1 to 2 miles after the whine was first noticed it quickly became a roar for no more than 20 seconds and then the pinion gear snapped at the differential locking both my rear tires up sending my truck sideways. With my son in the back seat it was a very frightening experience for a 2 year old. I couldn't move the truck out of the middle of the street so I sat helplessly and waited for a tow truck. The next day I looked underneath the truck and realized that along with my rear end being toasted so was my drive shaft which had damage from spinning freely. Then I observed my gas tank with a dent so big I have no choice but to purchase a new tank. So far I have been quoted for a used rear differential at several salvage yards from 800-1400. It's ridiculous that this problem continues with Dodge trucks and nothing is being done about it. Is it going to take someone loosing there life because negligence from Dodge to get these problems fixed and hold Dodge accountable!!!!.

3 Tank Assembly problem of the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 12/14/2013

When filling my vehicle with gas the tank gets full and the pump stops but only after spitting fuel all over the ground. This recently started happening but now happens every time I fill up no mater what octane and no matter what station I choose. I would estimate up to a half gallon of gas spills on the ground. This seems super dangerous.

5 Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 09/02/2013

When fueling the vehicle approximately 10 seconds gas starts shooting out of the gas tank, all over the ground, all over myself, and all over the vehicle. I have been told that it could be a vent issue in the neck of the fueling path. This is a definite safety issue. There have been multiple complaints about this same situation happening in other Dodge vehicles. Could you please contact me to discuss. In my opinion, this should be covered under a recall defect.

6 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 09/30/2011

While refueling truck, gas nozzle at gas station kept triggering off and causing fuel to spray out. This happened at a number of different gas stations. I brought the truck to Dodge dealer and was advised today that the gas tank has to be replaced because of bad check valves. Truck is not under warranty nor there is any recalls on it for this. I heard of this problem with other Dodge cars and trucks. I beleive and want an investigation and a recall for this because of the fuel spraying out and possibly causing serious injury, fire and maybe even death because of their faulty fuel tanks. The truck is only 5 years old and has only approx 43k miles on it.

My 2004 Dodge 1500 ram truck has a defective valve on the fuel tank . 12 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 10/19/2009

Roll over valve is cracked in 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck gas tank. The check engine light came on at about 75,000 miles (8/09) but the cracked roll over valve was not identified until 4 visits later, about 79,000miles (10/09). Computer codes do not readily identify the cracked roll over valve. The gas tank has to be replaced because the roll over valve is built in. Dodge will not cover a new gas tank under warranty. It is not a usual procedure to replace gas tanks and I wanted to report this defect in the roll over valve. A quick search of the internet found recalls on 2006 model 2500 and 3500 series gas tanks for pickup trucks but none for the 1500 series trucks. Have other complaints for cracked roll over valves been file? I am in the process of scheduling gas tank replacement with in the next week. Do you want the old tank for inspection or have a representative look at it when it is removed from the truck?.

13 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 09/01/2009

Occasional use of vehicle. Nothing has changed about how or when the vehicle is used. When filling truck with fuel, the pump will shut off after very little time and fuel sprays out of the filler neck and onto the ground and/or person filling the tank. If the fuel is pumped extremely slow, the pump will still shut off every few seconds and fuel will still spray out of the filler neck. The problem occurs every time I put fuel in the truck, no matter what gas station I use. My internet research has shown a recall for Dodge durangos of the same era. There have been several complaints on internet message boards with the exact same problem I am having. Fuel spillage is extremely dangerous as well as bad for the environment.
