I was driving my truck to work one morning. I was traveling at a steady speed of 70mph in a straight stretch. All of the sudden my steering wheel started to wobble and I had the low tire pressure warning light on my dash. After no more than 2 seconds the truck pulled extremely hard to the right. I knew that I had a flat tire. After attempting to safely pull off and avoid the tractor trailer from slamming into me I was able to pull over. After inspecting the tire, I noticed that I didn¿t have a valve stem in my front passenger tire. I attempted to change the tire on the side of the road in the rain but broke the cheap lug wrench that is supplied with the vehicle. Apparently the dealership over torqued the lug nuts. I had to get a ride to work, being 1. 5 hours late and leave my truck on the interstate all day. My father in law works for a tire and lube center. He professionally inspected it. The threads completely stripped out of the tire pressure sensor and valve stem. This is what caused it to violently eject from the wheel itself. By gods¿ good graces I was able to pull over that day and not crash or die due to the high speeds. I have had many other issues with the truck as well that I will file separate complaints on each issue. (transmission shift solenoid, staying in 4th gear, tipm electrical issues/no power to anything on the inside of the truck, rear power door locks not unlocking/locking with key fob or front door lock controls) this truck is a safety hazard to my families life as well as my own.

Driving home on 5/27/2016, hear hammering and assume local construction. Drive a little further and hear hammering again. 3rd time, I realize it's coming from my truck and in time with tire rotation. Pull over, but tires and wheels look fine. Drive further, hammering continues. Pull over again, but nothing being dragged underneath. As I slowly drive 2 blocks to closest garage, some guy says he can see my front wheel moving. Pull up in front of garage bay. Mechanic says front wheel rusted to point of near collapse. Try to move truck into bay but turning the wheels stresses it too much, so it¿s jacked it up in place. Only immediate remedy is spare tire, but spare tire winch rusted frozen and they had to cut cable and box. Mechanic said front wheel may not have endured if gone further, showed other 3 wheels were similarly rusting, and apparently because of the cover they put on the chrome clad steel wheels. Good thing I was moving slowly and on residential roads; if wheel had come off on faster roads it could easily have ended up in windshield of vehicle driving the other way. Chrome cladding separated completely. Wheel had chunks of rust 2-3"x1/2" + flakes falling off, complete separation in large areas. Major safety issue - apparently result of a design flaw made worse because the chrome cladding hides the rusting from view ¿ that was known or should have been known to manufacturer (junk yards are aware of it,) and that could have resulted in loss of life. Thankfully, I believe it was broken sway bar link pin (rust) that caused hammering and alerted me to check wheels. Had to purchase 4 new wheels, and have link pin replaced. Fc/ram unwilling to address, based on year of truck and mileage, but no one should ever have to worry that their wheels may rust off where you cannot see it. Saved 1 wheel and cladding for verification; others discarded.

While pulling my RV trailer, I noticed a growling noise and vibration coming from the front of my truck. The closer I got to home the noise got louder. Took to my mechanic and he had to replace left front wheel bearing hub, steering knuckle and alignment. It fixed the problems. Only 45594 miles. Cost $800. 00. Is this a recall for this vehicle? can I be reimbursed for my cost of repairs from Chrysler?.

The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving at approximately 40 mph, the rear wheels seized and prevented the vehicle from functioning. In addition, the wheels unlocked independently. The contact mentioned an abnormal noise was heard from the rear of the vehicle while driving. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the pinion bearing was loose and the rear axle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was serviced under NHTSA campaign number: 13v038000 (power train) before the failure occurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.
I was driving 40 mph (normally 55 as it is a downtown corridor) down a main highway in my area, where there was on-going road construction and felt a slight "shimmy" and then a drifting, similar to hydroplaning. I exited off the highway, onto my pre-planned exit and drove another mile or so. I was then going around a traffic circle (in a bearing curve to the left), at approximately 15-20 mph, and began to feel a hard "shimmy". Within seconds, it progressed to a lurching and shaking. . . As I watched my rear drivers-side wheel and tire spin around in the road/traffic circle behind me. I pulled to the side of the road and discovered that the rear drivers side of my truck was sitting on the rotor. The tire was approx 25-30 feet behind me, and all 5 lugs were found at the location that I entered the traffic circle.
Rear pinion nut, drive shaft recall. In novembe while driving the rear pinion nut came a loose sending the drive shaft into the transfer case completely breaking the whole thing ripped the rear gears and locking up wheels. After 2 mos. Of trying finally got a Chrysler Dodge dealer to accept my truck under the recall. After almost a mos. In shop $1100 worth of repairs that I had to pay for that werent there prior to the incident, I got my truck back 2 weeks later it happen again. This time it was just the transfer case that was damaged. Towed it back to dealership, this time I had to pay $400 because 4x4 sensor was bad and because of the year of my truck its sold with 2 other switches and they werent going to warranty the work if I didnt pay to have switches changed by them. Mind you the light wasnt on prior to this happening the 2nd time. I called chryler corp explained to them what was going on and they told me that there is nothing they can do and they dont get involved with there dealerships. Now here I am 2 weeks later took a road trip to georgia and boom it happened again while im driving I just see smoke coming out from under my truck, I manage to pull over and the transfer case explodes again. I get it to Dodge dealership in gwinnette they find out the drive shaft is bent and was never replaced from when it exploded the first time. It took Chrysler a week to respond to the dealership in gwinnette on how to procede. Its been 3 weeks havent gotten a return call from Chrysler. No accommadations have been made for me. Im stranded with no vehicle wasted my whole entire vacation. Vehicle still not repaired.

The spare tire cable snapped quite possibly causing my spare tire to fall out on the road while driving. I do not know where or when this happened. I last checked the spare tire in Nov 2015 and noticed it gone in April 2016. All that remains is a splintered cable. In talking to people in the automotive business they tell me this is a common occurrence. In my case if it did indeed fall out while driving I can only hope that no one got hurt. I do not know if newer vehicles are still equipped with these cables. I think there should be some sort of secondary system to prevent the tire from falling out should the cable snap as I have now come to understand to be a fairly frequent occurrence.

In 3/8/2006 I was driving my 97 Dodge ram and suddenly I felt a shaking in rear tires and after that I tried to slow down braking but I lost the control of my truck and I saw my left rear tire passing beside me. The nuts were missing . I can see now that it's a manufacturer problem. How it can be corrected?.

The hub went out on the vehicle and was replaced immediately with a new one. Drove approximately 10 miles and the brand new hub did the same exact thing. I can not figure out what keeps causing the issue nor can I afford to keep replacing them. I have had several Dodge rams over the years and while the hub does go out on them I have never had one go out right after putting it on. I have done my research and noticed this is a very common occurrence with this year model truck. Something needs to be done.
I was driving on the interstate with my family enroute to south carolina when I started hearing a noise and felt a little vibration on the pedal at first I thought I may have ran over something. Then all of a sudden I just heard a boom and the truck just started fish tailin. Luckily there werent any vehicles around me at the time, I was able to get to the side of the shoulder. When I looked under the vehicle the drive shaft had come completely out and there was smoke and oil leaking. When we got the truck to the shop and they looked it over the pinion had come completely a loose the seal was shot and chunks of the gears inside was mangled, the transfer case was cracked from the impact of when the drive shaft came apart. I also learned that the truck had a recall on it for this same problem. I managed to get the truck towed back to NY to my mechanic shop. Where we have been trying to get Dodge to do something enregard to the repairs. What we have been told was that the recall doesnt include my month! my year make and model but not my month. Yet I have the same issue as what is stated in the recall.
Driving down the hwy at 65 mph the right front tire blow out the side wall let go it happen twice with firestone tire.
While driving the retainer that holds the valve stem in place cracked and caused the tpms sensor to fall into the tire causing the tire to go flat. After checking I found all the other retainers were cracked and corroded. After checking into the matter, I found that other Chrysler vehicles around that year are having the same issue. I also found that Chrysler stop using those particular tpms sensors after only a short time. I called the dealer and they stated that there is no recall and that I needed to contact corporate. I was driving at a slow rate of speed when this happened, if I was driving on a highway I may have crashed. This is a dangerous issue that needs immediate attention.
On 04-02-2015 I experienced a rapid loss in pressure and a flat rear passenger side tire while driving 35 mph in rainy conditions. I found that the valve stem was missing when I went to change the tire. I brought the tire to a chain tire store and was advised that the valve stem nut had broken causing the failure. I was forced to replace both rear tires because the short distance driven to get out of traffic destroyed the flat tire. The other nuts were examined at that time and corrosion was noted but no cracks were observed. It is now 10-29-2015 and I'm noticing that one of the other valve stems is cracked on the older tires. I need to have the stem replaced before it fails catastrophically. I'm also experiencing a tpms failure but do not know if it is related. The tire repair cost $400+ and in reading other complaints this seems to be an all too common problem. Please investigate this matter further and determine if a recall is necessary.
Severe noise in rear pinion area, possible damage to rear differential; from previous problem when rear pinion nut backed off causing rear pinion flange & drive line to fall out of the rear end. This occurred less than 300 miles after incident associated with conformation number 10763197. As well as I forgot to mention this at the time of filing the other incident, when in the middle of the road I was unable to move the vehicle forward due to a locked differential, we had to push the vehicle in reverse to get it safely off the side of the road, if I hadn't of had help I wouldn't have been able to move the vehicle safely to a safe location to wait until road side assistance arrived. I had complete loss of controlling the acceleration speed of the vehicle. The same part issues were associated with prior and latter year recalls, 13v038000, 14v796000. I was lucky with my son to have not been on the freeway if the drive shaft had fallen out at faster speeds, it could have caused a bad crash to my vehicle, or another person who would have been behind me in the same lane due to a loose drive shaft.
While driving down the highway, I experienced a blowout on the front passenger side. The aluminum valve stem had blown out completely. I inspected the remaining three tires and all three of the other valve stems had cracked. I had to find a service garage as quick as possible to have this repaired. It seems to me that this could have been much worse, especially if all four tires would have blown at the same time.
While driving and getting ready to make a right turn the passenger side front tire made a noise and fell off from vehicle, causing me to skid on the axle. Tore up frame, axle.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving 20 mph, the turn signals, brakes, and tails lights failed. In addition, the contact stated that the wheel hubs failed causing the vehicle to shake. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the body control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 10e040000 (wheels). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 118,000.
Tl-the contact owns a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that the front drivers side tire was deflated, and the tire pressure monitor system sensor was inside the tire. The tire was replaced with a spare. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. Both front tires and the sensor was replaced. The failure recurred. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 mph, the rear drivers side tire blew out, and the tire pressure monitor sensor was misplaced. The tire pressure sensor and tire was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000. Mf.
Tire air valves are metal and split causing a blowout on I-57 at 65 mph. And as of today 09/03/2016 I have noticed the tires (all 4) are starting to loose air and 3 out of 4 valve stems are cracked causing the air to rush out of the tire as the crack gets worse ,this is very much a safety hazard. At this point I have no way to scan in the paperwork from the repair shop, but I do have it.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 70 mph, the rear driver side tire blew out as the low tire pressure warning sign illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000.
Vibration and bouncing- wobble feeling with loose steering at speeds 55-70, from front wheels through steering wheel. Tires have been re-balanced several times as the possible cause but truck continues to have vibrations in front wheels at speeds 55 or higher. Continual brake noise, rattling sounds at all speeds after brakes have been applied 2-3 times under normal traffic conditions.
The contact owns a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle shook abnormally and a grinding noise was heard. The contact stated that the wheel hubs became detached while driving at a low speed. In addition, the contact stated that the rear glass shattered after being involved in a minor rear end collision. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The VIN was invalid. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.
I was driving in heavy rush hour traffic at 55 mph when my left front tire rapidly went flat do to the tpms valve stem failure causing me to take evasive action in order to avoid a multi vehicle collision. This driving on a flat tire caused extensive side wall damage to my new tire with only 6000 miles on it, $233. 00 to replace it low cost to avoid a major accident.
Driving west on state route 32 at approx. 66mph in the passing lane with 1 vehicle to my right in the right hand lane and 1 vehicle behind me in the passing lane. I accelerated my vehicle to get clear of vehicle to my right in order that I could move over into right hand lane, immediately at acceleration point I got a low air pressure warning on instrument cluster. I stopped as quickly and as safely as I could. Inspection of vehicle found left rear tire completely deflated and upon closer inspection noted that valve stem assembly was missing from tire rim it had unseated from rim and blown inside the tire causing rapid deflation. This is a serious safety hazard that needs corrected now!.
The contact owns a 2002 Dodge rams 1500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 mph, an abnormal sound emitted from the front driver and passenger wheels. The failure recurred constantly. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 10e040000 (wheels). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 253,000.

My sister was in a fatal car accident June 23rd 2015. About a week and a half after her death we received a recall for the trucks rear axle pinion nut. Then a week after that we received another recall in the mail regarding the driver airbag inflator. During the incident her trucks right rear tire was snapped at the axle leaving us to believe that the pinion nut was loose and caused this rear axle to seize and break. In the crash all of the airbags failed to deploy. The pinion nut recall was issued in February of 2015 and we are questioning why it took Chrysler 5 months to provide us with this information.
Grinding from left wheel. Vibration from left wheel. Front left bearing hub assy. Bad.

Was driving at about 25 mph had just made a left turn, and out of no where my truck went side ways heard a screeching tire sound then a bang, then the whole truck started to shake very violently. I braked immediately and the banging continued, I was in the middle of the roadway and tried to give it gas to get to the edge of the street but the banging go worst, turn off and exited the truck, noticed a big piece of metal in the middle of the road along with a lot of oil , ran up to it to only notice it was half of my drive shaft, it had snapped in two still attached to a piece of the rear end, along with fragment pieces all over the floor of the differential housing, seemed like something blew up in the differential. I looked under the truck and noticed the banging noise and violent movement was coming from the other half of the drive shaft that was still attacked to the transmission that was still spinning when I had it in gear. The car behind me had to avoid the drive shaft that snapped off since he said it flew out the rear of my truck as I was driving. Had to get towed home and have the differential oil cleaned of the road way. I went home and notice there was a recall for this very same thing at it covered trucks manufactured January 28 of 2004 through August 3, 2005, my truck was manufactured April 2004 so it should be covered but the dealer and manufacture are giving the run around. Please help.
My son was driving home from work turning left and the right front tire just came off. After looking at the part itself the medal just snapped off, broke clear, this is dangles.
The contact owned a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving approximately 35 mph to exit the highway, the rear driver side tire completely fractured. The vehicle spun around and crashed into a wall. The vehicle was destroyed. None of the air bags deployed. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that there was extensive rust and corrosion on the frame. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and then towed to a repair shop. The manufacturer was not notified. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.
The wheel hub separated from my 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 due to the wheel bearing seizing up and exploding from the spindle assembly.
System warning went off that we were loosing air in the tire. Within seconds, we pulled over and the tire was flat. Received roadside assistance so we could drive the truck home. Stopped at a gas station to check the air in all the tires. Couldn't put air in one of the tires because the nut holding the tire sensor rotted off. While trying to put the air in, the stem was getting pushed into the tire. The mechanic told us that's what happened to the first tire (the nut rotted off). Had we been traveling at a higher speed, this could have caused a serious accident. We feel this is a dangerous problem and should be looked in to.
Driving down highway and truck started to chime for a low tire pressure. I immediately stopped and found the valve stem was inside the tire. I took the tire off the rim and found the nut that holds the tps sensor in the tire or the valve stem nut was broke. I looked at the other tires on my truck and all of the nuts on the tps sensors are cracked. This now is the second time this has happened in roughly a year. The first time it was serviced at a tire shop and now it happed again and I knew what it was right away and serviced it myself.
