Speed Control Linkage problems of the 1996 Dodge Ram 2500

Five problems related to speed control linkage have been reported for the 1996 Dodge Ram 2500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Speed Control Linkage problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2002

Throttle cable hung up at 70 mph and could have caused accident!.

2 Speed Control Linkage problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2001

Contacted Chrysler@1 800 424 9393 and advised them there was manufacturer's 970 for this throttle cable. They advised me there was no recall on this cable ,and referred me to the warranty dept at which they advised me that it was out of warranty . Please help thanks.

3 Speed Control Linkage problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2000

Consumer stepped on throttle and it became stuck, consumer had to shut off ignition in order to stop car. The strands on cable became unraveled at cable housing, causing throttle to stick wide open. Throttle cable and linkage were replaced by Dodge dealer at my expense. New cable and linkage are of a different/improved design.

4 Speed Control Linkage problem

Failure Date: 10/06/1998

Accelerator cable broke under normal use.

5 Speed Control Linkage problem

Throttle cable was frayed to the point that only one strand was remaining. Nlm.
