Two problems related to vehicle speed control have been reported for the 1996 Dodge Ram 2500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2001

Consumer received NHTSA recall 01v037000/manufacturer's recall 970 5 months ago and called dealership for an appointment. Consumer kept calling dealer about parts, and dealer stated parts were not in. They could not get the parts. Consumer states that all 4 failures occurred while accelerating to get onto the highway, on three occasions the consumer had to turn off the ignition to correct the problem, consumer still has not received recall repairs.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2000

Fuel metering failure. The engine ran away and did not stop when the key was turned off. I had to stall the engine with my brakes and had no steering because the key was off. I consider this to be a very serious incident and if my wife had been driving the truck, she would likely have wrecked it or blown up the engine!.
