Dash board totally destroyed lights and a/c switch won;t work properly radio is attached only by 2 screws I am afraid that the lights will not operate at nite anymore and became unsafe to drive. Contacted local Dodge dealers, indicating they don"t have any recalls on this item and there is nothing they can do to help. This is a serious problem with defective material, but Chrysler refused to knowledge the problem.
The dashboard in this vehicle started to disintegrate at about 70,000 miles, even though it had a dash cover and window sun protection in at all times, since purchase of the vehicle. It was like a sinkhole opening up in dash. It is now causing wiring problems to the point I have it in the shop. Called Dodge to see if there is a recall as the mechanic said he has the same truck, with same issue, and every Dodge 2001 truck he works on has the same issue. Dodge would not comment. I have a Dodge Ram 2500 1992, and the dash looks like new. It is a defect that needs to be recalled. It can cause the headlights to short out while driving.
The dashboard started to disintegrate almost immediately after purchase. At 70,000 miles it had opened up a giant sinkhole and started causing electrical shortages, like headlights going out occasionally while driving. Now every time the fan is run, small pieces fly around the cab. A piece got into my eye while driving, it was a bad situation. I had to be treated with antibiotics in eye for a cut. Now I am seriously concerned for my safety in the event the airbags deploy. Sharp shards of shrapnel could be forced into my body by the airbag deploying. It is a very unsafe situation for driver and passenger. I am having the whole dash replaced at my own cost because of this. Dodge refuses to help. Unfortunately my mechanic says he replaces these all the time because of this issue, but in two years new dash is disintegrating again. This is clearly an unsafe situation that needs to be dealt with, before fatalities occur.
The contact owns a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that the dashboard started to developed cracks. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 84,000.

(lights, brakes, air bag, god only knows) the dash problem is so widespread, that after contacting numerous aftermarket and salvage suppliers, I have learned that there are no dashes available for my truck. I contacted Dodge and learned that my truck is "out of warranty". They do not believe the dash is a safety issue.

I have a 2001 Dodge 2500 4x4 and the dash is falling apart rapidly. I had two small cracks a week ago and now I have a new one that extends from my windshield to my radio. Now I'm worried its going to sink in and cause electrical problem that could potentially lead to a fire.
The dashboard and the instrument trim bezel have severe cracks in them. I did not know this was a widespread issue and Dodge should replace the dashboards at no cost to the owners. This is clearly a manufacturing defect.
Dash & inner structure started cracking in my 2001 Dodge ram. I think this is a safety hazard to me and my family. If in a accident where airbag was deployed shrapnel could explode in to the air and cause injuries to occupants. I own a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 cummins truck and within three years my dash started falling apart. I approached the dealer with this issue but unfortunately my warranty was up 1000 miles ago. I didn't want to pay the 600 bucks for the replacement dash installed so I purchased one from the dealer and installed it myself. I take very good care of my vehicle so I couldn't stand having my truck look like crap. Well my new dash is now even worse than the first dash. I just cant believe Dodge would let such an inferior product be used on their trucks. I thought they were supposed to be ram tuff??? I have had vehicles that were over 20 years old and the dash was fine how could a 7 year old vehicle go through 2?.

The dashboard of the vehicle has completely cracked and busted leaving a giant hole in it. Leaving all the wires and heater vents exposed. This happened just with normal driving of vehicle no crashes or anything ever hit it to cause the problem.
The dash on my 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 is cracked. It has progressively gotten larger. I vehicle is kept in a garage so there is no sun damage. I can hear it vibrate sometimes. The dealer was informed about this problem two years ago and they said it was normal wear and tear. I don't believe I should be responsible for something that is not normal wear and tear.

2001 Dodge Ram 2500 truck. Complete dash failure, cracked, broken and caved in. Plastic material is brittle and chunks break off at slightest touch. Plastic edges are very sharp and could cause injury. Total replacement is only fix.

My dashboard in my 2001 2500 Dodge ram pickup truck began to crack. This crack continued to grow until finally large chunks just collapsed into the inside of the dash. I keep my truck garaged most of the time so this really shocked me. I worry about pieces falling inside that may cause other problems.

About 2 months ago the dash on my 2001 Dodge 2500 pick up split apart over the passenger air bag and the glove compartment, then today the dash split apart over the driver side gages. Entire dashboard crumbling, cracking, falling apart, disintegrating on 2001 Dodge Ram 2500. I believe this to be a significant safety issue as vehicle wiring is exposed and entire support structure of dash especially around the passenger safety air bag is falling apart. I believe this issue has rendered the air bag useless. Plastic shards are razor sharp and dangerous.

While sitting in the vehicle a fire developed under the hood. Consumer stated that the rubber moulding that seals the back of the hood at the fire wall had no way to secure it and it slipped off, hanging down on top of the turbo charger and cught fire.
