Two problems related to sway bar have been reported for the 2004 Dodge Ram 2500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
2004 Dodge Ram 2500. Consumer writes in regards to tie rod ball stud recall notice, heater controller unit, front end steering control and suspension issues. Consumer seeks reimbursement for repairs. The consumer stated the steering box and power steering pump were replaced. The source was metal shavings in the steering box. Also, it was noted the sway bar links were worn out, and the dealer was unable to perform a full alignment, because the upper ball joints were loose. The consumer had to manually move the heater blender door, in order to turn off the heat. The check engine light illuminated, which was traced to a frayed wire, and eventually fixed. The consumer stated a service advisor informed him, nothing needed to be done to the vehicle, as far as the recall was concerned, after only looking at the vehicle for a few seconds.
The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500. If the vehicle would hit a small bump between 35-65 mph the front end of the vehicle would shimmy. Some occasions the wheels would lift off of the ground. When the failure occurs steering and braking becomes difficult. The exhaust manifold was fractured because of this condition. The manufacturer stated that because the warranty expired they could not provide any assistance. The u-joints, new shocks, steering stabilizer, sway bar end links and bushings were replaced. None of the repairs have remedied the failure, the current mileage was 88,000. The failure mileage was 60,000.
