38 Equipment problem of the 2003 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 05/15/2015

Takata recall was informed early last year via recall notice about the issue, when I contacted Dodge to get service they informed me that the parts were not available. I inquired about the safety of driving and they commented. . If you don't feel safe you should not drive the vehicle. That is a poor answer for a $40. 000. 00 vehicle. Another issue that is a real safety matter even though denied by Dodge is the dashboard on the truck is a hazard due to chunks that fly at you due to the breakdown of the inferior plastic that was utilized. . . According to a former service manager @ Dodge. I went to Dodge and they stated it was poor maintenance and had I asked during my warranty would of covered a portion of the repair. How is this poor treatment when you google the issue and thousands of comments appear on this matter? below it requests the date, I am unsure of the exact date just recall it being early last year.

Started with tail lights on right rear side not working. Replaced the circuit board for the right rear lights, replaced all the bulbs on the circuit board. Still having problems, now the right rear turn signal won't work. Into the shop again,no short in wiring harness, took the turn signal switch apart cleaned all the grease off everything and still not working. A friend toke it to a dealership where he works, hooked it up to there diagnostic computer and found that the tipm needs replaced for $1,000. 00.

40 Equipment problem of the 2003 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

The dash is all broke up and pieces fly around when you have the windows down or could if you had a wreck. This is a bad problem with the Dodge pickup trucks the dash just breaks up all over the place.

41 Equipment problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 04/02/2015

Tipm is defective causing the air compressor not to engage. How do I know the airbags will work?.

42 Equipment problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 03/24/2015

I was getting my pickup serviced at a shop (not a dealer) and they advised me of the front end problems and the danger of continuing to drive it and I could see the problem with the front end. I had the repairs made as I was unable to get to a dealer which would be 40 miles away. Dodge is refusing to pay anything on the repairs because they were not made at a dealership. We live in montana and there is not a dealer on every corner and I was unable to get to one. It was not safe to drive it.

43 Equipment problem of the 2000 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 03/10/2015

Dash board has desintegrated due to faulty materials. Dash has been covered since about 2 weeks after date of purchase which was Dec 31st 1999. Truck was ordered straight from the factory an I am the only owner of the vehicle since day 1. Set papers on dash and when I picked them up realised a soft spot in the dash mat. Lifted mat to find large hole in dash.

44 Equipment problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 03/04/2015

When driving at highway speeds and hit a bump in the road the truck shakes violently, causing loose of control to a degree, while trying to slow the vehicle down. At approximately 30 mph mark the shaking stops and driving can continue as normal until the next bump, at which time the process starts over. This is a major hazard if anyone is behind you the potential of being rear-ended is great as you have to greatly reduce speed to regain control of your vehicle.

45 Equipment problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 01/29/2015

Otherwise known as the "Dodge death wobble". The approximate incident date is the last time it occurred because I can't remember when the first time was. I attempted to have this issue resolved/ repaired by Chrysler multiple times just to get the runaround every time. This last time 02/16/2015, they had me driving 30 minutes to their shop, in treacherous driving conditions caused by 5 inches of sleet and snow received the night before. Then they ended up wasting over 3 hours of my time/day by not doing any work at all to my truck the whole time it sat in their shop and tried to make me pay in excess of $575 for any work they was going to do. I had already rebuilt the entire front end in mid 2013 and in 2014 I dumped $10000 into rebuilding the engine because it blew 4 of the 6 compression rings for some reason, I can't afford to rebuild the whole front end. . . . . . . Again. This is a seriously dangerous issue and has had hundreds of complaints about it. There is even a class action lawsuit over it. Chrysler knows there is a problem and has the parts to fix it, so why won't they just do it? doesn't Chrysler care about the safety of their customers?.

48 Equipment problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 11/18/2014

I was driving my 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 5. 9 diesel truck to work during rush hour morning traffic at approximately 25 mph when the check engine light came on and a few seconds later the truck suddenly accelerated on its own to about 3500rpms. The roads were iced over from a previous snow storm. Due to the sudden acceleration on the ice, the rear tires broke traction and started sliding sideways before I could react to the sudden acceleration. I immediately applied the brakes with no results. Truck continued to slide sideways into the oncoming lane of traffic when as sudden as the acceleration happened, the rpms dropped down to an idle and I was able to get the truck under control. Luckily, there were no other vehicles in the oncoming lane. Dealership has truck now and is telling me the fault code indicates a bad acceleration pedal position sensor. If there would have been any vehicles in the oncoming lane of traffic at the time the truck accelerated on its own, it would have absolutely caused an accident and could have killed someone. I have never felt so panicked when the truck took off on its own. I cannot describe the feeling of helplessness I felt when this happened. If it hasn't happened already, this will certainly, at some point cause a tragic accident with the loss of life if not addressed immediately. I have read several online blogs where this seems to be an issue in other 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 5. 9 diesel trucks. These trucks need to be recalled immediately and parts re-designed to not allow a sudden increase in acceleration.

49 Equipment problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 11/17/2014

2006 Dodge ram power wagon, first the truck started when it wan't to, we would hold the key several times and it would start, then after about a week the truck would not turn on at all: replaced battery replaced started replaced alternator check the electronics in the steering column a friend came and check it on his computer and it said over voltage he reset the computer and it started. Now I can not keep the battery charged, I have unlooked any extra lights I had added my remote start. I read last week that there is a fiber optic line that would disconnect if there was an extreme shaking, I got new tires and they were bad so the truck shook ever bad. What are your thoughts?.

50 Equipment problem of the 2013 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 11/03/2014

Upon opening the back door of the truck after a heavy rain, we noticed the seat and carpet were wet. The under seat storage compartment had an inch of water. We assumed the door hadn't been closed completely, until it happened again when nobody had opened the door. We assumed it was a leak around the window or door seals and made an appointment with the dealer. When we arrived we were told it was actually a leak from the rear brake cab light and "it happens all the time on many models. We don't know why ram won't fix it. ".

51 Equipment problem of the 2009 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 10/24/2014

I have a 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel. This truck has approximately 47,000 miles on it - completely stock version. I was sitting at a red light when my windshield fluid started to spray by itself. When I let out the clutch on the green light I lost all power to the vehicle. I attempted to re-start the vehicle and realized I had no power at all. I put on the emergency brake and put my keys in my pocket. I popped the hood and could see smoke coming from the tipm box under the hood. I opened the cover exposing the fuses and could see a massive electrical short occurring. After about ten minutes the tipm caught fire, the vehicle attempted to start itself, horn activated and began to slowly lurch down the road without a driver. I was thankfully able to stop the vehicle, but the engine red-lined as the tipm had a literal melt down. A passerby stopped with a fire extinguisher and helped me put out the fire and get the battery cables disconnected. As it turns out there have been multiple reports of this failure on several makes / models but Chrysler is not addressing it. This is a major safety hazard that could've resulted in death. Nhtsa, cas and Chrysler is aware of the issue but nothing is happening except customers having to repair this at their own cost. I am a loyal Dodge customer and once repairs are made to this vehicle will be switching brands as this is unacceptable for any year / condition of vehicle but especially one this new and with only 47,000 miles on it. I would like something done to address this so other people aren't affected by this too.

52 Equipment problem of the 2014 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 09/09/2014

While driving the vehicle I needed to change lanes and speed up. A vehicle was to my right and infront of me. I had to let off the throttle for a second to let the vehicle next to me pass. As I pressed the throttle to accelerate and pass the vehicle in front of me there was no response from the vehicle. There was at least a two second delay before the vehicle started accelerating. This has happened several times. Sometimes from a stop when trying to turn into traffic. Other times while moving. It seems to happen when the accelerator pedal is depressed and then pressed again within a short period of time.

53 Equipment problem of the 2013 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 09/08/2014

When driving this vehicle there is a very strong smell of diesel in the cab and coming from the ventilation system when stopping. The fuming is very strong and extremely worrying. I have been sickened during these fuming events. The smell is not unlike charcoal lighter fluid vaporizing but not igniting. I believe that these fumes are deleterious to health and pose a serious danger to public safety. The common unqualified wisdom is that it is a 'regeneration process' taking place, but it does seem to be a dumping of raw fuel and this is vaporizing into the ventilation system, the only things that helps a little is to turn off the a/c off, and switch of the fresh air, use the recirculating air system, open windows. This is the only thing that can be done when you cannot stop the truck and get out for fresh air. My research found many reported cases of this. It seems to be a concern among many Dodge (Chrysler) ram owners. The manufacturer will not admit there is an issue and the dealers hold fast that its not a problem and is 'normal'. Whatever this is, it is not 'normal'. The suggestion of just using 'recirculated air' is a nonsense. This must not be allowed to go on, someone is going to get seriously injured, or themselves and someone else killed from this gassing issue. This issue should be subject to a redesign and a recall on these affected trucks. Irrespective of the processes taking place under the hood, higher egt's, regeneration mode etc. These processes should not affect the health and wellbeing of the vehicle operator. I am imploring the odi to investigate these issues and reported cases, Dodge must respond to odi and they must be made to resolve these issues to the satisfaction of the odi and owners alike. Chrysler and the Dodge ram marque are responsible and liable for their products and faulty engineering. .

54 Equipment problem of the 2014 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

Tpms does not allow setting tire pressures to the recommended tire setting from the tire manufacturer without triggering warning light and nag screen on startup. Constant warning light and nag screen correction will lead to driver complacency, negating the purpose of tpms alerting the driver to a potential problem with the tires. Tpms required over inflation results in potential loss of vehicle control due to loss of traction. Abnormal tire wear due to tire over inflation increases risk of hydroplaning and loss of control of vehicle. Ram customer service has been contacted and confirmed that this problem is systemic, by design, and can not be corrected at present time. Potential fix is to reprogram bcm, allowing dealers to reset tpms to appropriate setting for tires and actual load with appropriate documentation.

55 Equipment problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 08/18/2014

We received a safety recall notice n49/NHTSA 13v-529 regarding our Dodge 2500. We begin the process to have it repaired in January with our local dealer. In April we finally got in to have it inspected. We do have the faulty left tie rod ball stud that needs replacing. Our local linwood Chrysler dealer tells us, in several attempts to have the work done, that they have only received 2 parts from Chrysler. When we contacted the 2nd dealer they told us a similar situation. We have went from # 7 on the list, to # 31, and now are # 41. When we contacted Chrysler we were told that 5-6 of these repair parts are shipped weekly to each dealership with waiting list. We have found that Chrysler is shipping one part every 21 days to some dealerships, sometimes. They repeat the same "fair distribution" line to us, the customer, and I have no idea what they are telling their dealers. We have not drove this expensive, faulty truck for 8 months because of this safety issue. We are unhappy about the lies of "parts on order".

56 Equipment problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 08/15/2014

Continuously leaking power steering gear box. This is the 2nd replacement in less than 3500 miles and 3 months. When the vehicle is turning, it will squirt power steering out of the adjustment screw on top of the gearbox. Going 15-19 mph, the front end begins to vibrate; I can feel it in steering wheel but do take notice in the front end shaking. Not bad now but seems to be getting worse. The sound of coins can be heard in the ashtray/coinholder. Is there something going on here that needs to be looked at. Dodge dealership advises I need to buy a new steering gear box. How many do you have to buy? I am getting ready to buy my 3rd one in 4 months!!!! does this help steering? Dodge will not even look at this; I feel all they want to do is sell parts.

57 Equipment problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 07/23/2014

Owner had a head on collision with a tree. Although there were brake marks, there seemed to be a loss of steering control. Alchol was not a factor in the incident. The vehicle was deemed a total loss and remains on hold for inspection by Dodge (which will hopefully done in a timely manner-ASAP). There were many documents of repairs to the vehicle which I disposed of before finding this recall notice. It was purchased in 2014 by current driver.

58 Equipment problem of the 2003 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 07/23/2014

The dash on my 03 Ram 2500 5. 9 diesel has literally has fallen in on itself. Very large sections of the dash have broken off and have become a safety concern. For example, if an accident were to occur causing the airbag to deploy, pieces of projectile shrapnel would be thrown all over the cab of the truck. I've been in contact with Dodge, and nothing will be done about this issue because the truck is "out-of-warranty" and is considered "normal wear and tear". The particular customer service representative I spoke to copped an attitude with me and refused to connect me to a supervisor, citing that it "is not a supervisor issue". I do not know where to go from here. Does an accident have to occur in which people are maimed by pieces of the dash in order for Dodge to do anything? I really would hate to see my wife with pieces of plastic sticking out of her face and skull because this problem was not handled in an appropriate manner.

59 Equipment problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 07/18/2014

Vehicle went into the dealership for repairs/replacement of the gas tank straps and also the exhaust straps. Was notified by dealership that the frame was rusted and they were able to put their fist through the hole. Car was never in a situation were rust like that could have occurred. At this time they are stating that straps are not covered due to rust. The dealership repaired the frame by welding a plate over the hole. Not sure how safe that is.

60 Equipment problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 07/11/2014

In July 2014, travelling along a 2 lane highway, we hit a bump in the road and the truck started to violently shake to the point where we had to come to a complete stop on the road. Scared the entire family as we got out to see if we had a tire failure. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Continued on the vacation and had it occur 3-5 more times while in the truck. While on vacation, had the steering damper(stabilizer) and rotated the tires but that did not fix the problem. Upon return home, took it to a non-Chrysler service center as the local Dodge dealer was 3 weeks out on getting the truck in. They replaced both upper and lower tie rods joints, wheel bearings and aligned the vehicle. $2000 approximate cost plus the steering stabilizer and no fix. Took the truck on another extended trip on 4/3 and had it occur again. When I called Chrysler dealer today (4/6), the service advisor was unaware of any problems with this truck and advised me to bring it in which I will do next week. It still has the passenger air bag recall out on it. All previous recalls have been inspected by Chrysler service centers. This is a very dangerous situation and I fear that allowing the truck on the highway dangers not only me and my family but other motorists traveling near us.

61 Equipment problem of the 2011 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 07/06/2014

August 2013 we bought aftermarket wheels for our 2011 Dodge Ram 2500. July 6, 2014 while washing truck, we noticed six (6) lug nuts and stems/bolt missing. Two missing on rear tire and two missing on both front tires. Contact our tire company to get the problem repaired and he stated that Chrysler has that part, the lug nut bolts/stems, is on a nationwide back order and did not have an estimate to when they would be available. Now, I don't feel safe driving a truck with 6 lug nuts missing and cannot get it repaired. Also, when I get it repaired, will it happen again? probably, that's why the part is on back order.

Failure Date: 07/01/2014

65 Equipment problem of the 2010 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 06/23/2014

In March 2014 we received a recall notice for our Dodge Ram 2500. We took the letter to our local Dodge dealer, marshall motors, in salina, KS to verify that our vehicle needed the repair work indicated. The employee said it did and that she would keep our notification letter and a phone number and call us when the part came in to schedule an appointment. We've waited and waited and I called again on June 23, 2014 and was told that the part/parts needed were still on back order from Chrysler and they would call us when they received them to schedule an appointment. I find this ridiculous as it has been 3 months since we received the first notice of recall. If there is indeed something that needs fixed on our vehicle we feel it needs to be taken care of for the safety of our family. What happens if this part does cause an accident while we're waiting for the back ordered part? concerned and frustrated. Thank you.

66 Equipment problem of the 2014 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 06/14/2014

I bought a new 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 (diesel) in June 2014. After a short time of having my vehicle, I noticed it leaned to the left side. I measured the wheelbase of my vehicle and found the right side was one inch higher than the left side. When looking at my vehicle on level ground, it appears there is a flat tire when if fact there is not. I checked the tire pressure to ensure it was even on all tires and it was. I reported the problem to dch Jeep Dodge Chrysler of temecula where I bought the vehicle. They inspected the vehicle and stated the vehicle does in fact lean, but it only leans 3/4 of an inch on the left side and it fell within their guidelines of a max lean of 3/4. I told them it was not 3/4 of an inch and was one inch. Frustrated with this dealership, I took my vehicle to another dealership who inspected the vehicle and they confirmed my vehicle leans on the left side one inch. Dodge will not fix this problem for me or explain to me the reason my vehicle leans. My vehicle does not appear safe to drive nor do I feel safe driving it with my family because it leans so much and it seems as if my vehicle will crash.

67 Equipment problem of the 2010 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 06/09/2014

I was driving west in road TX-375-loop heading the i10, I took an exit for i10 east wich is a bridge. I took it and then I heared a sound on the rear wheels so I slowed down, after that the sound stopped and I continued to incorporate to i10-east. After I took the i10 I was driving around 60 mph when suddenly I heard the sound again but this time after a few second a different sound appeared and the rear wheels stopped resulting in completely lost of control. My vehicle started to go with no direction and than took me out of the highway, once I was on the side of the road the vehicle make a 180 degrees turn and I stopped heading wrong way. I was so lucky because there were some traffic signs and I didnt crash any of them and also because even though that highway is always full with traffic I didnt crash with any other vehicle. Once I took a look of my truck I saw that the driveshaft was separated from the rear axel. I didnt filled a claim before beacuse Chrysler told me they were going to fix it since that incident happened because of a recall they didnt fix before. The recall number is m34 and its been 3 months and after I could have died in that accident they havent helped me at all. My vehicle is still in the dealer and Chrysler wont authorize to fix it.

68 Equipment problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 06/08/2014

My truck would not crank over when I went to drive it. Dodge dealership has had it over a week and thought it was the tipm module. The got one 4 days later and now it wont allow programming so it is still not fixed and I am left without a truck while they learn how to fix it at my expense. So far I have been quoted $920 for the part and $260 for the labor. The service manager said he would take the master mechanic from the fleet department to start another diagnosis process.

69 Equipment problem of the 2014 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 06/03/2014

A week after I bought the truck the problems began, the steering started rattling every time I turned left and on a few occasions it got extremely hard to steer the truck, they rebuilt the front axle once then finally replaced the whole front axle assembly and wiring. The truck shakes bad at 65+ with the factory firestone tires I replaced them. The a/c vent controls stopped working the motors and heater core had to be replaced. The accelerator/throttle is extremely delayed almost to the point of being dangerous and when you let off the throttle the truck violently bangs into gear. The service def light came on yesterday 12/2/14 with 3/4 full tank. I just reached 8500 miles and these trucks are dangerous I hope Chrysler fixes these nightmare problems.

70 Equipment problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 06/02/2014

Steering has horrible vibration and wobble at 19 mph. Seems to be getting worse. Have already replaced two steering gear boxes on 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel. Still not fixed. With recent news on Dodge rams; I am surprised they have not looked at this model years as well as many model years are having same issue. Beginning to be nervous driving the vehicle and the history of this issue with other models and really afraid the shaking is so serious it will eventually cause a wreck or loss of life. This is the 3rd report from me already. Also taken it to Dodge service center and they just peered under the truck and said everything was good. Didn't even attempt to test drive and see for themselves. I have even attempted to notify Dodge corporate last year when it started and not even a return call or message. Feel trapped and lost. Please look at these model years as well. Already had recall h46 conducted and they just told me it was not a problem. Now I have another recall n62 and never got a notice for it; just happen to look up recall notice. VIN is 1d&ks28c36j214020 I think this steering is more widespread and would want further investigation. I am going to take Dodge in for n62 and r25 recall and I bet the dealership will just peek at it and tell me nothing is needed, as always. No more trust in Dodge, please help.
