6 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 09/01/2008

Problem 1) the engine has a exhaust manifold leak. This is due to Dodge using inadequate bolts on the head and the bolts broke. The removal of the exhaust manifold requires the bolts to be drilled and tapped out. Dodge should have corrected this problem but would not. Problem 2) the vehicle leaks profusely in the cab. Ever since I bought this vehicle the cab has leaked. It leaks under the rear seat and it leaks from the front visor as well. I have tried to seal with rtv since Dodge could never fix the problem. It still leaks. Problem 3) the passenger front window works intermittently at best. Problem 4) the rear doors will not release the child lock function. I have tried numerous times but apparently the switch in the door does not work.

7 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 04/11/2007

03 Dodge ram, 2500 quad cab, 5. 7 hemi engine, auto transmission. Truck had done this since new in December of 2002, 6 to 10 times. Engine would start to shake, shaking the entire truck mostly at start up and/or at idle. Would shut key off and restart would be fine. Driving back from indianapolis 4/11/07 truck started shaking violently. Drove for less than a minute, pulled off to the side of road and truck died, would not restart. Towed to a rochester indiana Dodge dealer. This was what the rochester dealership told me over 3 weeks. Spark packs were corroded and split replaced. Compression low in cylinder 5 and no compression in cylinder 8. Found broken valve springs in cylinders 5 and 8. Note: many truck forum web sites noted that Dodge was aware of this in many early 03 models. In hind site it, explains a lot. Lot of carbon in the throttle body. Catalytic converter replaced, replaced pcm, replaced heads, replaced intake manifold. Picked truck up on 5/2/07. The dealer said truck running a little rough because of the additive added to the gas to clean carbon. Said to be sure to fill the tank, this was done. Driving back home to michigan truck ran very rough. No engine light was on. Taken truck to dealer where purchased. Service manager said sounded as if it had a miss, asked if engine light was on, I answered no. He took it for a test drive and said that engine light came on before he got it out of the building. My Dodge dealer told me cylinder #7 is dead. Will have to remove the head to see what is going on. My dealer said that the rochester dealership had forgotten to the rocker arms over the push rods. Got the truck back and it seemed to be ok. After driving for about a week and feeling uneasy about it, I traded. The saving grace to all of this was just the fact I had bought the extended warranty and it was covered.

10 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 1998 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 08/16/2004

My 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 truck's engine, with just over 56,000 miles on it, exploded internally. My mechanic, colonial auto repair of danbury CT. Stated the bolts on the intake manifold loosened and allowed air and foreign substances to leak past a gasket into the cylindars. The result was my engine piston literally exploded in the cylindar, which resulted in my having to purchase a new engine.

11 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2003 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 11/30/2003

The engine misfires and almost stalls. I have to pull into safe area and rev engine to restore power. This is not always convenient, like when it happened going up the mississippi river bridge on I-10 in heavy traffic with an eighteen wheeler behind me doing 70 mph. I have reported problem to dealer but they unable to help because no codes are generated by the computer. They claim that they are not familiar with this type of problem and my experience is unique. On a related/unrelated matter, the muffler has turned blue from overheating and they have told me that this is normal even though it appears like there is a restriction/obstruction in the muffler.
