The manifold bolts rusted away which caused the manifolds themselves to warp. In June of 2015 I had repaired this vehicle because of the same exact problem.

At 70 mph the engine turns off as if a switch was flipped. This has happened multiple times, always on the interstate and always with cruise control on and active. It occurs more frequently in the hot summer months (110+ f). The warning light for the throttle control circuit sometimes illuminates. While still moving, selecting neutral, turning the ignition off and then back on allows the engine to restart. This can occur as frequently as every 60 miles, but the average occurrence would be around 150 miles.

Pcm has been replace for the 2nd time since the original one. The dealer has sent out the pcm for reprogramming. It was returned and the pcm does not function properly. If they can not find a used one, the truck is totally worthless. Dodge had stopped producing the pcm. Because of this Dodge is forcing me to replace a perfectly good truck except for the pcm. Because the truck was driven in California except for the last 4 years, there is no rust. There has been no recall. I don't feel I should have to buy a new/used truck because Dodge does not want to make the pcm. They are producing vehicles knowing the vehicle can't be fixed after a certain amount time.

Truck has a 53 block which has cracked below the #5 cylinder freeze plug at 74,000 miles. First noticed overheating with loss of coolant that didn't go on the ground, then found 53 on block and found crack. Dodge will not even acknowledge the problem of the 53 block exists, and have been somewhat rude in their denials and lack of info. Cummins will at least acknowledge the problem, but has offered no solutions for a problem caused by poor block design. Estimates to fix are about $9,000. Which I can't afford. This problem should be covered under a Dodge extended warranty, however Dodge refuses to accept any responsibility. This issue can cause the truck to overheat, which could leave driver and passenger(s) stranded or even cause a fire.

2nd time in 3 years power distribution module box caught on fire causing engine to die the keep running starter until we removed battery cables first time vehicle was parked. This time going down highway in traffic.
No indicators of any issues to this - while driving between 65 and 75 mph the truck begins to smoke not only out of the back end of the truck but underneath the body as well as under the hood of the truck, and we began to smell fuel. The cel light then comes on. We had the whole family in the truck and a small fire extinguisher. This is really nerving since Dodge/Chrysler as well as cummins knowing this line is a problem and has not done a darn thing about it to rectify any compensation. I hate to say this but I guess it is going to take someone getting really hurt but your attitude of not wanting recall such a fire hazard! look at all the forums and see that this is a common issue with the fuel line! line to 4th injector now major repair because of it all the fuel lost under the hood and all over the engine and firewall!.

Engine caught fire while driving on a rough gravel road at a 10% grade with no load in the bed and no trailer, destroying the entire truck and sparking a 150 acre wildfire.
The vehical was being reapired at a dealer and it has been in 3 times to 3 diffent dealers to fix a check gauge light and they have not been able to reapir it. I also boguht in for the tie rod recall inspection and was told the vehical did not have a defective part. I dont belive them since they have not been a honest dealer. The truck is part of the main recall but I was told though Dodge that its not being covered because they fixed the truck which I dont believe happened. I dont feel safe driving the truck with all the issues with Dodge. I also just had the turbo replaced and now im getting desiel fumes coming into the truck. Dodge is not willing and will not work with me to get these issues resloved.

Dodge has issued a recall from October 7 2014 for recal p65 / nhtsa14v-635 stating that the diesel fuel heater may overheat leak diesel and cause smoke under the hood or catch fire. After having service at the dealer they stated they have no fix yet or parts for this safety issue which may cause a fire, here are their words from their website under recall status for my VIN incomplete but repair parts are not available. This is the second safety issue where Dodge ram has had a safety issue but no parts the first was the left tie rod where they had no parts available. Why are they allowed to issue safety recalls and have no parts to fix issues that could cause the vehicle to catch on fire or smoke this places people on the road at risk.

Recall p65, received notice in oct. 2014, contacted Dodge day letter was received. Asked if vehicle was safe to drive at which time they stated "we can not tell you if your vehicle is safe or not", asked to schedule service and informed no parts at this time. . . Fast forward 5 months. . On the Dodge website it clearly states my vehicle must be inspected for fuel leak on this recall. . . So I call Dodge and once again I'm told no parts yet, they don't even know what parts are needed, so I once again asked if the vehicle was safe to drive and that I won't have an engine fire and received the same response as last time. . . I asked if at least my vehicle can be inspected to see if it has a fuel leak so I k ow if it's safe to drive and the response was no, since no parts, "its a liability issue if they inspect and don't have parts". . . . . Nor will they provide a rental and guess what if it catches fire they won't pay for it. . . I didn't spend over 50k to have a lawn decoration, I bought the vehicle to drive!.
My 2014 ram diesel has what people call throttle lag. Mine is more severe than the other safety complaints filed. My truck sometimes will die when the throttle is slightly depressed then you coast to the side of the road and the truck is idling, after a few seconds you can drive off with the engine missing, then with the engine light on it will run fine for a while. It has set at the dealership going into the fourth week. This is the fifth Dodge 2500 diesel I have owned, with no problems on the others.
I was in a left turn lane waiting for oncoming traffic to pass before commiting to my turn at a stop. I gradually depressed the accelerator to make the left turn. The truck rolled forward at a rate of about 1mph. With oncoming traffic approaching, I then fully depressed the accelerator pedal with no results. There was no change in rpm, no change in acceleration, or speed for an estimated 3 seconds. The truck then slowly accelerated and I narrowly missed being t-boned by oncoming traffic. This unsafe condition will also happen during highway speeds after returning the pedal to the idle position and then accelerating to pass traffic or enter another lane. I have lost 10-20mph at highway speeds with my foot fully depressing the pedal. There seems to be a total disconnect at times between the accelerator pedal position and engine rpm's/power. I would estimate the occurrence of this issue at 10-15% of accelerator inputs. The truck now has just over 9,000 miles and this has happened numerous times, some nearly causing an accident.
While driving the vehicle I needed to change lanes and speed up. A vehicle was to my right and infront of me. I had to let off the throttle for a second to let the vehicle next to me pass. As I pressed the throttle to accelerate and pass the vehicle in front of me there was no response from the vehicle. There was at least a two second delay before the vehicle started accelerating. This has happened several times. Sometimes from a stop when trying to turn into traffic. Other times while moving. It seems to happen when the accelerator pedal is depressed and then pressed again within a short period of time.
When driving this vehicle there is a very strong smell of diesel in the cab and coming from the ventilation system when stopping. The fuming is very strong and extremely worrying. I have been sickened during these fuming events. The smell is not unlike charcoal lighter fluid vaporizing but not igniting. I believe that these fumes are deleterious to health and pose a serious danger to public safety. The common unqualified wisdom is that it is a 'regeneration process' taking place, but it does seem to be a dumping of raw fuel and this is vaporizing into the ventilation system, the only things that helps a little is to turn off the a/c off, and switch of the fresh air, use the recirculating air system, open windows. This is the only thing that can be done when you cannot stop the truck and get out for fresh air. My research found many reported cases of this. It seems to be a concern among many Dodge (Chrysler) ram owners. The manufacturer will not admit there is an issue and the dealers hold fast that its not a problem and is 'normal'. Whatever this is, it is not 'normal'. The suggestion of just using 'recirculated air' is a nonsense. This must not be allowed to go on, someone is going to get seriously injured, or themselves and someone else killed from this gassing issue. This issue should be subject to a redesign and a recall on these affected trucks. Irrespective of the processes taking place under the hood, higher egt's, regeneration mode etc. These processes should not affect the health and wellbeing of the vehicle operator. I am imploring the odi to investigate these issues and reported cases, Dodge must respond to odi and they must be made to resolve these issues to the satisfaction of the odi and owners alike. Chrysler and the Dodge ram marque are responsible and liable for their products and faulty engineering. .

I own a 2014 Ram 2500 crew cab with a cummins diesel motor with <5000 miles. I purchased the vehicle brand new from a ram dealer on 5. 28. 14. On 8/24 I put the vehicle into drive and the rpms immediately climbed and the vehicle accelerated completely on its own. I was not pushing the accelerator whatsoever. I was able to slow the vehicle down, but it was difficult to do and strained the brakes. Immediately after I let off the brakes the vehicle immediately accelerated again completely on its own. Within 7 or 8 second the vehicle was traveling 50 mph and was accelerating at full speed--completely on its own. I slammed on the brakes to stop at a red light and was almost unable to stop. While stopped at the red light the vehicle was still lunging forward as the rpms remained high. When I left off the accelerator, the vehicle took off on its own again. At this point I was extremely concerned as I was not sure if I would be able to stop it again. A message appeared on the screen that said "service electronic speed control. " I was finally able to stop the vehicle again and I could smell the brakes when I turned it off this time because of the strain trying to stop the vehicle. Obviously, I am not driving the vehicle at this time. My son was in the truck and we could have been easily killed or killed someone else. I have not yet contacted the dealer (will do so today), but wanted to report this ASAP because of how serious of an issue this is. I hope this is taken seriously. I don't want anyone to get hurt or killed.
