Travelstar ecopath a/t size lt265/70r17 a large bubble developed on sidewall. About 3 inches in diameter. Tire only had about 5000 miles on it. I was on a trip with my truck camper mounted on bed of truck. Returned from trip and noticed the bulge. Truck is single rear axle with one tire on each side. Travel speed was 55 to 60 mph. If tire had blown out truck and camper would have flipped over. I called manufacturer of tire, was told to contact walmart where I purchased tire. Contacted walmart, was told to contact manufacturer. 4 Tire Sidewall problem of the 1998 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 04/29/2012

Driving on hwy880 north bound just past 238 junction pulling my boat. My boat weighs approx 7000#. I had just merged onto the highway and I was going about 50mph when I noticed a severe vibration. The vibration got worse and all of a sudden a huge peice of tread seperated from the rear drivers side tire. I can say this because I saw it fly past me in the lane to my left. Following the tread seperation the tire exploded and my truck started to fishtail. I was able to signal and make my way to the right hand shoulder. The tire had 3/4 of the tread missing and had a huge hole in the sidewall. I was able to remove tire and replace with spare. When the tread detached it did some damage to the rear quarter panel. The 2 sidebody support rods in the wheel well where completely torn free. Also the wheel well trim was completely torn loose. The metal behind the tire in wheel well was crushed up against the underside of the bed. I brought tire back to 4wheel parts and was told it was just a blowout and that they can be pretty nasty sometimes. I purchased another tire from the same manufacturer. Move forward one year to 5/4/13 I have another tread seperation while traveling on highway. This time it is the right rear tire. Speed is approx. 60mph tire starts to vibrate badly. I immediately start to move to shoulder from number 3 lane when tread seperates from tire I see it pass me in right lane. This time the tire does not burst. I replace tire with spare. There is exptensive damage to wheel well area. Crushed metal, bent and detached support members and the tread when it detached flew up a long the passenger side of vehicle and left deep scratches in paint and black tire marks. Returned to 4wheelparts and was told to contact cooper tire. I am currently waiting for complaint package from them. Purchaed a new set of 4 tires from 4wheel parts. They gave me credit for 2 defective tires and made me pay for other 2.

8 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 02/02/2008

A routine visual check of my tires resulted in finding that the outer sidewall rubber is degraded on all four tires. The nature of the degradation is that the sidewall rubber is separating from the core. This is apparent around the entire circumference of the tires. The separations shows as if they were a "fine slice" through the rubber such that the rubber is easily lifted away from the core. There have been no normal (or otherwise) driving incidents or vandalism where such "fine slice" type degradation would have resulted. The "fine slices" appear to start from where the main tread is on the side of the tire and is in a radial shape towards the tire center. These slices range from 1/2" to 2" in length at this time. The tires have been replaced with new tires. The worst case tire has been retained and is in my possession. Digital pictures have been taken and are available. The tires are bf goodrich lt265/70r17, rugged trail t/a with dot code m3ah dr11 4005 load range "e".

17 Tire Sidewall problem of the 1998 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 10/21/1998

This is a "load range e" goodyear tire problem. At 30081, 30805, 35213, and 38060, miles one each of the original equipment tires failed due to sidewall separation and was replaced at varying charges by dealers. Now, at about 50,612 miles, one of the replacement tires has failed for the same reason. Goodyear is giving me a "run around" as has been the case in all previous occurrences variously claiming that the tire is "no longer avaailable" "on backorder" "no longer manufactured" "not adjustable" etc. It has now been two weeks since the last failure was shown to goodyear, and they claim not to be able to locate a replacement. I have complete documentation of each of these situations, dealer names and locations, and am ready to assist you in whatever way is appropriate. (dot number: mk11 tiresize: lt24575r16).
