The dash on this truck has cracked and fallen in, exposing the wiring inside the dash to the sun. The wiring insulation is not rated for exposure to direct sunlight (uv exposure) and is decomposing, putting the truck at risk of a fire initiating inside the cab at highway speeds, due to exposed wiring shorting to ground. Dodge refuses to remedy it, despite numerous attempts to resolve the issue with them. It is my understanding that this is a widespread issue, yet the nhtsb has not forced Chrysler/fiat into a recall, claiming that it isn't a safety issue. Do you need to see death before you act?.

Cracked dash ~ so bad the whole dash has caved in and it is causing the air conditioner to not work properly.

My 2002 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup dash board is cracking. First it started as a small crack and now it has become a crack almost a foot long. There are other cracks in the dash as well (around the gauge cluster). At times my low beam lights flicker on and off while driving at night. Nothing has been done about the cracked dash, I contacted my local Dodge dealer and they said that there was no recall on the item and they could do nothing. A new dash quoted $455. 00 just in parts. That is far to much for a dash that should have not cracked in the first place, and for a truck that is not that old.

Dashboard cracking around airbag and has sharp splinters and holes causing electrical problems.

I own a 2002 Dodge 3500 1 ton dually and my dash has started to crack. I called my local Dodge dealer in claremore oklahoma ( melton Dodge ) and they gave me a number to contact the manf. With which is 1-800-992-1997. I called them and they told me my dash would have to be inspected by a Dodge dealer to verify that the crack was not caused by me and then led me to believe that they would make good on it. I took my truck to melton Dodge in claremore oklahoma and they did their inspection and found out the defect had nothing to do with me and it was in fact a Dodge defect. I called the manuf. And they told me that since it was not hindering the airbag and I had a 140,000 miles on it they refused to do anything about it. This would not bother me so much except for the fact that they have replaced other customers dashboards with more miles than mine and older ranging from free to the customer paying part of the bill. I work with a gentlemen that has a Dodge that is older with about the same miles as mine and they replaced his for free. I have owned my last Dodge truck they have an inferior product that they wont stand behind. If not for the cummins engine I would have already traded my truck in for a chevy or a Ford super duty. You don't see there dashboards cracking or caving in. I pull a trailer alot and I have several friends that have Dodges the same year as mine or in that body range and all of their dashboards are cracked as well. This is very upsetting.

We own two 03' Dodge rams a 1500 and a 3500, both of witch are experiencing cracks in the dashboards.

I feel that the cracked plastic dashboard on my 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 laramie goes beyond a cosmetic issue into the realm of a possible major safety concern. The dash pieces that break off could fall down and pinch wiring, cause the fan to jam, etc which can cause a potential fire while driving down the road. This did not personally happen to me but I have read about Dodge trucks catching fire with no definite cause determined through investigation.

Dodge 3500 dash cracking into pieces, con cern of sharp edges if in an accident and pieces falling through the dash onto gas linkage or brake preventing them from working.

Even though I have taken care of my vehicle, the dashboard has several cracks in it. The dealership will not help me. They say I must purchase a new dashboard for about $700. I have other friends with the same type of vehicle and they also have cracks. Shouldn't there be a recall? my dad's 93 chevy is fine.

I have a 2001 Dodge 3500 and a 2002 Dodge 1500 both of them have extremely bad cracks in the dash. The 3500's dash is the worst of the two it is starting to cave in my fuel level gauge and a/c doesn't work because of the pressure on the connectors. It continues to get worst and Dodge should be held accountable for this.

2003 Dodge Ram 3500 quad cab - severe dashboard cracking in several places. Not under warranty.

The contact owns a 2002 Dodge Ram 3500. The contact stated that the dash board had developed a crack and the electrical wires underneath was exposed to the view. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 150,000.

The top of my dashboard started cracking and stick out, it snapped of easy as it was very brittle. I have approx 40% of my dash missing. If the florida sun did this- what will it do to the wiring that is showing this I believe is a material defect and Dodge needs to do something about it.

Dash board cracked up and broke in to sharp pieces very dangerous could cut or stab a person. " a known problem".

The top dash cover is cracking and falling apart into triangle shaped pieces. In frontal collision, I am concerned about the possibility of these pieces posing a danger to the passengers.

Dash board cracking/collapsing, electrical problems secondary to dash problems. Broken plastic pieces of the dash are now projectiles for me and my family if there was an accident, or air bag deployment.

2003 Dodge cummins 3500 4x4 dash cracked in several places several owners I know have the same problem, this could break out in an accident an injure someone.

Events are that the dashboard began to crack, crumbling small pieces into the electrical wiring, air bag vicinity, and even into the floorboard. Eventually, huge chunks of plastic has fallen into the cavities, impeding braking, and causing concern of fire under the dashboard area. Care must be taken not to touch the dashboard or your hand will go through what remains of it.

I bought a 2002 Dodge 3500 brand new in 2002. 4 months later the dash cracked. I brought the truck to the dealer ship several times with my warranty and they refused to fix this issue. Since then to now we have continued to contact Chrysler corp. And the dealership with this issue to just be put off time and time again. You pay 33,000 for a truck within 4 months the dash cracks and Dodge tells you its cosmetic your bumper to bumper warranty will not cover it. I feel it is a safety issue because pieces of the dash can come loose and the dash itself is loose.

Dashboard cracked in vaious spots, parts falling into electrical area, loose headlights sometimes while driving at night.
