Dodge Ram 3500 owners have reported 67 problems related to equipment (under the equipment category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I got a letter last year 2014 about the recall and went back a month later, and they verbally said that there's a recall on the recall. The recent one, I took it to turlock Dodge and they put me on the list and I'm at the bottom and it has been a year, but I want it fixed ASAP. The recall says: "the problem is the left tie rod ball stud on your truck may fracture under certain driving conditions. This could cause a loss of directional control and/or crash without warning. The dealer will repair your vehicle free of charge. To do this, your dealer will inspect the steering linkage on your truck and replace steering linkage component/s if required. The inspection will take less than 1/2 hour. If linkage replacement is required, the work will take an additional 1 hour to complete. . Etc" this was copied from the recall notice. So when are you going to fix it?! fix this ASAP, I'm frustrated since it has been a year and no one has gotten back to me except the letter!.

My vehicle has a recall n49/NHTSA 13v-529 and when I called to get the recall work done I was told that the recall parts have been recalled because they are failing too. This is a very serious problem and if the tie rod breaks all steering control is lost. This is my only "reliable" vehicle to get to work, grocery shop, etc. Now I am just supposed to risk my life each day I drive it? the dealer (chapman Dodge of las vegas) was not able to give me a date as to when the parts would be in to fix my car or any other information. This is unacceptable. My CO-woker already had his tie rod break while driving on his 2008 Dodge Ram 3500, luckily he had just come to a stop or who knows what could have happened. Please get Dodge to do the right thinkg and repair these vehicles that they already know there is a problem with.

I received a recall notice in the mail in January 2014. Made an online appointment to have the defective parts repaired/replaced at fort collins Dodge February. I was informed that the replacement parts would not be available until March 4, and an appointment was made by jesse. Jesse subsequentlyl called an said the appointment would be canceled as further information regarding the recall was needed. Jesse just called again today and said that the repairs/replacements couldn't be performed until after April 15. I need to use my truck to pull trailers and haul loads. What is a reasonable time to expect to have this defect resolved? what should I do next?.

Changed lanes at approximate 65 mph the truck began to shank ( wobble) so bad it was hard to keep control of it. Had to come to complete stop to get it to stop . Felt it was unsafe to drive. After researching online there are other post with the same issue they have called the wobble as the death wobble. It has happen 4 times with this truck at different times you don't know or have any indication that it's going to happen. Had the tires balanced and rotated suspension checked all is good according to the repair garage.
Received safety recall around March of 2012 n49 left tie rod ball stud may fracture. Contacted hunter Dodge in lancaster, CA and was told that the parts are not available due to high demand and hunter Dodge would call me when they part comes in. I have called 3 times with the same results. I just received a second recall telling me to have the service done. Contacted service department and got the same run around with no promise that the part would be available. I contacted haddad Dodge in bakersfield and an appointment has been set for 7-27-14 at 7:30 am. Some one needs to investigate hunter Dodge and find out why I have to drive an unsafe vehicle because they cannot get this tie rod ball stud. It has been 5 months since my first contact and they still can't service this recall.

Sometime after receiving my recall notice I called to schedule the appointment for my recall (n49/NHTSA 13v-529) at the wyatt arp Dodge dealership in seguin, texas. I was told that Dodge had called back all those parts for fixing the recall problem and they didn't know when they would get more so I would need to just call back regularly to check if they were in yet. I asked if there was a waiting list I could go on and she said yes but it was 5 pages long. I asked to be put on the list anyway. Some time later I made an appointment for an unrelated problem and asked for the recall to be taken care of. At the appointment she said there was a list and I asked her to look and see how far down we were and she couldn't find our name anywhere! so then she said she would just add my name to one of the pages in the middle of the stack. I have yet to hear from them! this is terrible service from wyatt arp and it makes Dodge look bad too since the parts to fix the recall were called back from Dodge. I was able to make an appointment today to take my truck to bluebonnet Dodge in new braunfels, texas for a couple of weeks from now so hopefully we will remain safe driving our truck in the meantime. I had to send this complaint because it is terrible to receive a recall notice and not be able to get it taken care of for 6 months!.

Recall notice on my truck for a tie rod. Spoke to the dealership on several occassions and have been told the part was on order, then part was backordered, then part that was supposed to replace the recall part was also recalled, then the new part was ordered, etc. . . Excuses, excuses. This not only affects my truck but my husbands and my fathers as we all purchased seperate new 2012 Ram 3500 4x4 crewcab duallys (3 trucks total) on the same day. We haul horses and other livestock commercially as well as heavy equipment so safety on the roadway is of the utmost importance not only to us but to the owners or agents of the horses/livestock (sometimes the horses are valued at more than $100,000 each), and to the general public sharing the road. Our close friend, who has horses as well and hauls her trailer often, purchased a new ram truck 3500 just prior to our purchase. Her truck was effected by the recall and she was having the same issues with the dealership and parts as we are, including her recall part was put on someone elses vehicle prior to her scheduled appointment, so she submitted a call or letter to corporate and the situation was resolved immediately. We have been overly patient with this and request that this issue be resolved in a timely manner without additional excuses. This is a safety issue as well as a liabilty issue. Please respond to this request as soon as possible. We love our ram trucks and would hate to look to other manufacturers in the future simply for the lack of customer service received from Dodge. We have had excellent customer service from the Dodge dealership in kernersville, nc, however that is approximately 3 hours away from our home so having our trucks serviced there is inconvenient. The dealership we deal with is john heister Dodge in lillington, nc as it is a 20 minute drive, however the customer service is disappointing.
The tpms (tire pressure monitoring system) quit reading the tire pressure on my truck within the first few hundred miles of ownership. My truck has been in the shop for a total of 6 times for 8-10 days for this issue. The dealer could not figure why the system quit. . . . They have replaced the sensors, the rf hub, etc. I have just over 7,000 miles on this truck and they finally got it to work correctly about a month ago. This week, it has stopped functioning again. If the nhsta requires these systems to be on vehicles for safety, then Chrysler/mopar/Dodge should be held accountable to address the issue.

This has happened before back in 2010 and I put an extra stabilizer on the front and upper and lower ball joints and a few more pieces all made by moog but the front end still shakes almost uncontrollable and I have to slow down real fast before I cause an accident I'm afraid it's going to make me wreck.

We went to the dealership on August 4th, 2013, and they told us that we do need this recall fixed. However, they also said there was a shortage of the replacement parts. Fast forward over a year, and we are still on the waiting list for a replacement part. This is unacceptable!.

The right front tire,a general ameritrac 235/80r/17,which is the original spare tire that was put on just a couple of months before, started to shake. I went to local tire store to get a new one installed. They did not have any so I was on my way home. Its about 8 miles each way to this store from my home. On the way home, this tire blew up like it had a bomb in it! the disintegrating tire destroyed my running board, fender flair and dented the trucks fender. I didn't have a spare,so I used the trucks tire tools (another issue)and took one of the rear duals off of the back and put in on the front to get home. After a trip to the tire store, they would replace or adjust this tire,so I had to buy a new one. Well just the other day that tire started to shake too. After running 70 mph on the interstate, and having tire issues with the same general tires,I was quick to get off an exit ramp to see what was making my truck shake. I quickly noticed that the left front tire was coming apart like the other one had done. So I did the same as before,I took a dual wheel off and put in the steer position. This tire was coming apart and I caught it before it blew too. Upon removal I about fell over when I seen a bulge in this tire on the inside where the tread and sidewall meet. This bulge was the size of a large grapefruit!these tires have 16/32 tread when new. The one that was coming apart still has 13/32 tread. Barely worn. The dealer has offered to pro rate the tire. Thats ok. But what about the damage the other had doen to my truck? I guess im out of luck??these general tires obviously have safety issues that need looked into. The tire dealer and general tire (and myself) are lucky there weren't any injuries as when the first tire blew at 50 mph,I had my hands full keeping my truck under control. Had I had my trailer behind me with a load on it going 70 mph, there would have been one hell of a wreck.

Vehicle continues to exhibit extreme and uncontrollable front-end vibration when turning over a bump or groove in the road at speeds over 25 mph ("death wobble") subsequent to the n49 recall finally being performed on said vehicle on 10/9/14. The vibration continues until the vehicle is slowed to a stop. This vehicle is used to tow a fifth-wheel trailer in excess of 18,000 lbs, which is understood to exacerbate this defect and cause a loss of steering control and crashes that would affect numerous other vehicles on the road at the same time necessarily resulting in serious injury and/or death to the occupants of those vehicles.
There was a horrible death wobble in the front end. The truck had to be brought almost to a complete stop in order to remedy this event. This is beyond unsafe. It is not only unsafe for my family it is a danger to others on the road. Buying a $50,000 + truck safety for my family was not a concern, I was highly mistaken. My fear is not only for my family but for the other motorist on the road. We had stopped driving the truck unless there is a major need, yet we continue to make our $850. 00 a month payments for our yard ornament, because that is what we agree to do. At 42,333 miles we had the front end worked on hoping to fix the problem the temporary repair lasted until we reached 68,482 miles and its back!! so like I said it sits in our driveway in the last 4 months that truck has only driven 256 miles. This is not acceptable!!.
Dash board falling apart.
We have tried since the recall to get this fixed. We pull a forty foot fifth wheel that is our home. We do not like riding in a dangerous vehicle. We have tried in yuma az. And joplin mo. Soon we will be heading for middlebury indiana. I would like to know my ride is safe.
Dash board starting breaking apart voluntarily several years ago and has been getting continuously worse to the point that entire dash has crumbled. . Dash board pieces are hard sharp plastic material and could come back and injure someone in the event of an accident. Dodge dealerships state that all ram trucks have this problem but no recall has been issued.
While towing a fifthwheel trailer I noticed smoke in the cabin and stopped the truck. Upon opening the hood I found a fire at the firewall on the right side behind the engine. Failing to be able to extinguish the flames I seperated the truck and trailer and pushed the truck away from the trailer and dialed 911. The truck was a total lose and after contacting Dodge I was told that my truck had already had the recall preformed (08v641000) and that they had never had any further problems with these vehicles. Clearly the recall failed to correct the problem at the very least in this case. Chysler sent an inspector (neal matheson) out to investigate and inspect the truck, his report stated that there were no material defects found. I have a copy of that report if you need. Chrysler has refused to honor the warrany on this vehicle as well. I have a video of the incident taken by my son who was with me at the time. The vehicle is still being held at insurance auto auctions 2299 w. Broadway, phoennix arizona. There was a police report taken as well as a statement to the fire department. Police report #04-10-011564 navajo division of public safety department of law enforcement.
Power steer/brake fluid master cylinder leaked into cab of truck saturating the carpets before it could be discovered. Safety fear of carpet soaked with power steering fluid.

I was passing a truck on the highway and when I pushed the throttle to the floor to kick in passing gear, the throttle stuck to the floor and would not release. I kept hitting the pedal but it would not release. I was lucky enough to have a semi clear road ahead of me or it would have been disastrous. I had it towed to a dealership and they could not locate the problem. I took it to a second dealership and was in contact with Chrysler corp. And opened up a case, case # 18964704 and have been in contact with brandon but nothing has been resolved. This problem happened on sept. 16, 2009. I did an internet search and found listings of the same problem. I feel this is a serious problem and should be reported. I am looking at trading in the truck at this time because it is such a safety issue. I have only driven the truck 2 times since the incident. Once to the dealership and one time to work. Please help. Chrysler is not returning my phone calls anymore.

Sharp parts and peices keep falling off the dash of my truck and most of not all have either hit my passenger or myself while driving.
1997 Dodge Ram 3500 truck has a problem with the trailer hitch. Consumer states that the trailer hitch is defective and wants to be reimbursed for the cost of the replacement hitch. When the consumer applied the brakes, the hitch on the truck literally broke and the trailer hit the ground. The consumer was told about a recall, however when she contacted Chrysler, they told her there was no recall for her vehicle identification number.
A/c - blower housing, keeps breaking so passenger side gets hot air, has been repaired every year until 2011. And needs it again this year. Happened so often that Dodge put an extended warranty on the a/c unit, but as soon as that expired, housing broke again. Blinkers- sometimes they come on and others they don't move the tilt or turn and miraculously they come on. Drivers side seat belt will not latch, takes numerous attempts to get it to latch.
: the contact stated while towing a trailer on a clear day traveling on a dry paved highway, the rear of the vehicle began to bouncing. The road was smooth and without potholes. The vehicle was pulled onto the shoulder of the road immediately. Upon inspection the trailer hitch assembly of the truck was observed to be fractured. The service dealer and the manufacturer were notified.

: the contact stated while in reverse with the driver side door open and wearing the seat belt the out-of park alarm sounded. The out-of park alarm was installed on the vehicle under NHTSA recall # 05v462000. When contacting the manufacturer it was determined the out-of park alarm should not sound when the seat belt is being worn.
Have a 2002 Dodge Ram 3500 that I bought new and the dash has disintegrated. The plastic is defective and has crumbled into a multitude of pieces. These pieces fly out of the air vents into your eyes and are sharp and will cut like a knife. This is a danger not only to my eyes but it I was to have a wreck they would fly and cut you. Have had to remove the pieces from vents that won't blow out that have gotten into the ac/heat door flap. I have never had a dash on any car or truck fall apart like this. If you just touch it it falls apart.

The dash is completely fractured and broken into shards of sharp hard plastic that should the takata airbag ever deploy will be propelled like shrapnel through the passenger compartment at explosive speeds. It's like driving a car with broken class covering the dashboard. This issue, the dash fracturing and splitting into pieces as a result of sun exposure and age seems to be a known problem on almost all of the online forums I went to to discover if this was unique to me. I cannot understand how such an obvious and common hazard experienced by so many, is allowed to persist.
When the trailer was used, it bent the main springs which supported both the truck and trailer in the opposite direction. If the spring were to break it could cause an accident.
Dash is no good breaking up if airbag is inflated the parts of dash would put out your eyes could even do more all the Dodge dashes are breaking they need to be fixed.
