I purchased a 200 Dodge Stratus ES in Jan 2001 from a Toyota of new orleans dealer. After purchase, I started having recurring problem with the vehicle. Brakes, heating system replaced, brake drums. At this moment something called sway link bars have gone bad on the car. I had a accident in April 2002 but according to the Dodge dealer in gretna louisiana the accident had nothing to do with the problem I've had or having with the car. I notified the Chrysler company of my problem and was told that this car was not on the recall list. It should be. I'm having continuous problem with the brakes as swell. This does not make sense being that the vehicle is of a new model.

1998 Dodge Stratus 2. 4 dohc, on 7/15/2000 started hearing a low rumble/gear noise coming from the front of the car. Took to dealer on 7/24/2000 and was told that both front wheel bearings were shot. Total estimated bill was $510. 00. I told dealer that there were 2 TSB's and he said that there was no additional warranty available. TSB #'s were sb054434 and sb6088758.

About 3 weeks before the problem was realized, I heard a very loud whirring sound. I had taken it to feeney Dodge in palatine to have the front brakes done. They did the brakes but I don't understand why they did not notice the left wheel bearing noise. I took it to goodyear in mt. Prospect for regular maintenance and they noticed it right away. They said that the left wheel bearing needed to be replaced. I had an amoco station I know well do the repair. Why did a car that is only 2 1/2 years old need a wheel bearing replaced? I have never had a car have this problem. Why wasn't this under the three year warranty? I contacted feeney and another dealer in the area and got told that no, that is not under the 3 year warranty. This repair should have been paid for by Chrysler not me. The part had to be defective for this to have happened.

At 42000 miles right wheel bearing failed dealer would not cover under warrenty . At 66500 miles left wheel bearing going will have to cover all cost again. Must be a problem for manufacturer. Doest seem as I should have to replace a manufacturers defect.
