Front Air Bag Problems of Dodge Stratus

Traveling at approximately 25-30 miles when vehicle infront of me made a sudden stop without warning claiming that the sudden stop was due to another vehicle that was parked at the curb of all a sudden open the door and I rear-ended them.

I have 2 large cracks in my dash, my car is well taken care of and does not sit in direct sunlight, one crack appeared over a year ago, I was driving and all of a sudden a loud cracking noise, now again the same thing only the newest crack is much larger and still getting bigger I also hear other cracking noise while driving so I imagine it is just matter of time before I have more cracks. I am concerned that this may cause safety issues. Dealer says nothing is covered to fix this problem.

Hello,my name is carlene boyd. I was involved in an motor vehicle accident on August 1 of 2008. I was driving a 2005 Dodge Stratus. My vehicle collided with another vehicle. M y car sustained major front end damage. The damage was so severe my vehicle was totaled by my insurance company. My speed limit on impact was between 35-40 miles an hour. I was shocked my air bags didn't deploy. Luckily,myself and my mother was wearing our safety belts. I feel at the speed I was driving my air bags should have deployed. I called the manufacturer of the Dodge Stratus on Friday August 8,2008,still I haven;t received a response. Please assist me with this matter. Thank you.

2004 Dodge Stratus. Ltr forwarded from fmcsa requesting investigation of consumer complaint re non-deployment of the airbags in her Chrysler vehicle. The consumer hit a utility pole. The consumer suffered injuries to her face. The manufacturer denied the consumers claim for any assistance. The manufacturers inspection revealed that the threshold for air bag deployment was not met. The impact was absorbed by the vehicle's crush points. Also, during the electronic testing, no fault codes appeared that would have indicated any malfunction at the time of the incident.

Car was involved in a frontal collision and the airbags didn't deploy causing person to hit head and have to have emergency treatment at the hospital. The whole bumper was crushed in along with the radiator being shoved into the engine. According to emt/police, the airbags should have deployed.

I was driving on the highway 6:40 a. M. And crashed with tow horses, I was driving at 150 km/hr and the tow air bag do not open, I ask the dealer why the air bags do not open and the answer was because I pushed the brake, the damage in the car was a lot but the air bag do not open.

Car hit twice by deer. Once on the left front and once on the right front. Both times going about 55 miles per hour or less and neither time did the air bags go off. On 10-31-2005 I was in an accident where my car went off the road, at less than 55 mph, due to rain and a curve I was going around. The impact broke my rear axle, then the back of the car side swiped a tree and tore off the rear bumper and flipped the car on the passenger side, flipped back right side up and then into the side of a small hill. None of these times did any air bags go off.

Consumer's vehicle was involved in head on collision, whereby the seat belt did not secure the consumer, causing him to strike his head on the steering wheel, then, the air bags deployed only because his head hit the steering. Consumer broke his nose, and had other multiple injuries. The vehicle was totaled.

I was just pulling out of my driveway going less than 5 mph when I heard what sounded like a gunshot. I put my foot on the brake and looked over my right shoulder and saw nothing. I paused approx. 5 seconds before deciding to pull forward and to the side of the road to investigate. I took my foot off the brake and as the car began to roll forward there was a tremendous explosion and the passenger airbag deployed, shattering my windshield. I have asthma and have been having significant breathing problems since the occurrence.

While driving 35 mph vehicle was involved in a head on collision. The dual airbags deployed without air. As a result, driver sustained severe facial injuries.

This is the 2d same vehicle in total loss crashes in 2 weeks where airbags didn't deploy.

Consumer rearended a pickup truck and front airbags didn't deploy. Rear brakes didn't grab. Front end dipped down. Dealer gave consumer an estimate for repairs, and they stated that vehicle was hit in the center. Vehicle had to hit at an angle to deploy.

Airbags deployed at 5 miles per hour collision. No damage to other car but our car had a blown out windshield, side window, blown apart dash and steering colum. Only damage to car was in the interior.

While driving 50mph noticed cow in road, slammed on brakes to avoid hitting cow, but hit the cow. Upon impact with the cow, neither air bag deployed. Entire right front was damaged. The windshield was broken. Vehicle was declared totalled by insurance company. Five individuals received emergency room treatment due to accident.

30mph frontal crash, driver's/passenger's airbags didn't deploy, brake pedal went to floor, but car didn't respond.

For no apparent reason while sitting at a traffic light, the air bag on the driver's side deployed. Vehicle was taken to dealership for repairs. Please provide any further details.

Traveling at 20 mph vehicle was involved in a frontal impact where neither airbag, driver's or passenger's, deployed. Two shoulder injuries occurred to driver and passenger. Dealer contacted and was not aware of the problem. Problem still exists. Effective current. Provide further information.

Consumer's wife was involved in a front-end collision. During the accident, the airbags on the driver's and passenger's sides failed to deploy. The wife was not seriously injured, but suffers from sores and bruises. When the consumer contacted the manufacturer, an investigator from Chrysler came out to view the vehicle, but failed to give the consumer any information pertaining to vehicle.

While driving approximately. 60-65mph, Stratus rearended another vehicle. Upon impact, neither air bag deployed. Driver sustained minor injuries.

Violent deployment of air bags caused swollen wrist/hand, laceration to eye, bruises, and shortness of breath.

The brakes locked up and did not stop the vehicle properly resulting in vehicle collision, no deployment of the air bags during collision resulted in injuries.
