I purchased my car used from a dealership in April of 2016. I leased the same model previously with no problems. I went out of town for an extended time and came back to find the battery dead. I was surprised, as I often travel and had no problems like this with the other C-max. I called a service, they got it started (with some difficulty) I drove it for about 45 minutes and it seemed fine. Several months passed and I went away, came back and car was dead. Aaa started it. I drove it for some miles, then stopped it . It wouldn't start. I had it towed to the dealership. It was Sunday, so they were closed. They went out the next morning and it started. They went through my car and could not find any problems. It drove fine for several months, and I went out of town again for extended time. Came back-car wouldn't start. This time I had purchased a battery charger, in case this happened again, but it was not powerful enough to get the car going. Called aaa and they started the car. I drove the car for about 1 hour, on the freeway, came home and everything seemed fine. Dealership told me that "something must be draining the battery" but could not find a problem. Today, 2 weeks later, my car is once again not starting. I noticed yesterday evening, that everytime I got in the car, it would not start. A message would come on saying it was shutting down to save the battery. A blue line would appear and when it had "loaded" all the way, I could start my car. Today it is totally dead, and wouldn't start even with a "jump". So I am stuck until Monday. Even if I get it started, I don't trust that it won't start the next time I turn it off.

I was going to back into my driveway. I put the car in reverse then all of the electrical went haywire. Everything turned on( windshield wipers, radio, all the lights. Etc. ) then I put my foot on the gas to go in reverse and it went forward. Then I tried turning the car off and it would not turn off, so I was stuck in the middle of the street. I then moved the stick shift back and forth, put it in reverse again and it went a couple of feet, then wouldn't move anymore. All the electrical components remained on, but I couldn't turn the car off. I then had it towed to the car dealership with all the electrical components still on. They couldn't get it turned off either. They have it there and have no idea what to do. Now they can't get it turned on because the battery died.

The audio system of the vehicle stopped working - will not turn on, link to phone, etc. Performed a hard reset of the audio system and the system worked. Next day 12v battery was dead. Jumped started the car and took to the shop where the battery was replaced (original battery). System was tested and battery was reported as fine. Since it was the original battery I had them go ahead and replace it and no other issues were identified. Car sat in garage overnight with everything off. Next day car is dead again.
I bought this vehicle used in March of 2018. The 12 volt battery has completely drained numerous times the first month I owned it. About 10 - 12 times. Finally in April of 2018 I replaced the 12 volt batter to the tune of $155. 00. I thought this would take care of the problem. It did for a few weeks. Then I would get up to leave for work and my battery would be dead again. I have been averaging 3-4 jumps a week to get car running. The battery was replaced yet again in July 2018. This week I have had to jump my car a total of 6 times in 5 days. I have been late to work twice. And two of the mornings the car did start it had been on the battery charger overnight. I was able to get to work these two mornings, but 4 hours later when I went out to go to lunch the battery was dead again. I am typing this on my lunch hour as I sit at my desk. Car is dead again and I can't leave. I read all the issues other owners are having that are just like mine and do not know why Ford has refused to issue a recall. I have to carry around jumper cables and a battery charger in my car and hope someone comes along to assist me. This car is unreliable. Then November 17 when we were in branson, mo for thanksgiving the rear tailgate latch failed. It has not worked since. I understand another of Ford's issues. We have adjusted the rear bumper pads per Ford's recommendation for that issue. It did not help. Now I have to take it in the Ford dealer on 12/15 and have that replaced to the tune of $358. 00. How can they get away with issues with no accountability?.

The 12-volt battery will die without warning or reason. No lights left on, or anything that may drain the battery. This leaves you without access to your car as there are no keys. Parked the car at night, and woke up the next day to a completely dead car. After getting a jump start, the car will be fine for a month or two; but then have the same problem again. Has happened at least 4 times in the year I have owned the car.
I have had a continual problem with my car battery going dead. It happens randomly every 4 or 5 months. I use my car every day, the battery drains overnight. The battery tests fine at the Ford dealer. This last time the battery died, we trickle charged it and after gaining back power noticed we lost all power functions to all doors on our vehicle. After a week of diagnosis at the Ford dealer it was determined that two of the door modules went out at the same time. Ford ordered new modules and one came to them defective. I have to go in yet again next week to have them change out that module for lack of the auto up feature. I think Ford has a problem with these modules, I think they are causing the battery to drain overnight, and leading to expensive diagnostic/repairs bills at the vehicle owners expense. This issue is not caused by a vehicle owner, this is faulty parts from Ford. I am not confident that the new oem parts will last long, this problem needs to be corrected. My 2013 Ford cmax only has 48k miles and is taken care of and maintained regularly.
Car goes dead and 12-volt battery is being drained because faulty computer programming leaves electrical modules on even when the car is turned "off. " unclear if items that remain electrically "hot" pose direct safety problems, but consumers risk being unable to start/restart the car in emergency or normal situations. Ford declines to pay for reprogramming this faulty design beyond the normal warranty time (even when the car is covered by a Ford extended "premium" warranty). In my case, the car was parked at my home and the battery failed - twice in a few weeks - overnight in warm summer weather. I urge you to examine what systems are being left on and to urge or require Ford to correct its design deficiencies. Thanks.
Vechile and electrical components do not shut off when ignition is turned off and key removed. Radio volume can not be turned down creating a distraction while driving. Car battery dead after several hours. Nhtsa campaign id #: 15v436000 is for same problem on like cars, but not for this particular manufacturing date. (not a vechile condition, but as luck would have it, I was stranded in below freezing blizzard conditions).
We purchased this car used in September, 2016 and it had 33,000 miles on it. One week after we bought it we returned to the car from dinner and found it wouldn't start. Had it jumped and continued on our way. One week ago we went to start the car after it sat in the driveway overnight and the same thing: battery was dead. We had it jumped. This morning, after sitting in the driveway overnight, it wouldn't start again, battery dead. This is the third time in just over a month our battery has gone dead. This site is full of reports of this happening, and Ford dealers are unable to fix the problem. Why hasn't this car been recalled? Ford needs to offer replacement vehicles to anyone unfortunate enough to have purchased one of these lemons.
My "regular" battery died and needed to be jump started on 16 Jul 14. I noted that my clock/date on the dashboard had stopped working at the same time. The dealership checked the computer but didn't find the cause. The same thing occurred on 16 Nov 14. This time the computer showed that the battery was bad, and the dealership replaced it under the warranty. I am a very low mileage driver. I was very careful to make sure that the car was locked and electrical accessories were shut off after the July incident.
Car will not start, nothing left on, car jumped with jumper, took place again yesterday 5/27/2014. Unable to jump start this time, Ford road side assistance applied a jumper able to get electrical system up, but car will not run. Ford dealer received car, stated that their road side assistance did not know how to jump car. Also stated battery was dead, but tested fine. Asked why this would happen, could not tell me. They stated that all power systems like lights or phones are automatically turned off after 45 minutes. Have called Ford customer care and given a case number. When battery is dead, gear shifter cannot be moved to even push the car out of the carport to be towed.
Battery fails to charge on early model 2013 C-max ses. Ford recognizes problem and has applied 3 firmware updates which do not work. Blames problem on low-mileage drivers. Yet problem has occurred after 2 previous days of long distance driving and in both hot and cold weather. No longer own the car because it could have left my wife or me stranded.
